I have always enjoyed reading a Gerri Hill novel and this is not an exception. As you read you can see the damage done to children by parents and grandparents. This is not the main story line but is the cause of action taken or not taken by the two main characters. Hope you enjoy and if you do and have not read her other novels pick one and enjoy it also...

It was a nice love story but I wanted to shake the characters and scream" tell them how you feel!" Maybe it's just me but the sex sometimes seemed unnecessary as well

This was one of the first book I read by Hill and certainly not my last. When I first listened to the sample narration on Amazon I was really skeptical to getting it. When I saw it was available here I jumped at the chance of listening to it and I was glad I did. The narrator, though at times inconsistent with the character voices, did a pretty good job. I enjoyed the listen and didnt cringe nearly as much as I thought I would. I look forward to more of this nareator.

Very cute, oh so cheezy, at times cringe worthy,100% predictable, slightly smutty f/f romance ,set on a snowy mountain.

The two likeable MCs both had interesting backstories, but could have been more fleshed out in my opinion. I really liked the setting and the descriptions of the scenery. There were some funny moments, and a lot of angsty longing, and I'm not angry about it.

But it was kind of surface level and forgettable, and a bit to cheezy for me to really love it. I would have liked a bit more storyline and character building outside of the romance.

Still it was a fun, short, easy and entertaining read.

Would probably recommend reading the physical book, though, because while the audiobook production wasn't exactly bad or anything, it didn't do the book any favours either.

At first glance, the book looked like a good choice. It's fall and the temperatures are starting to get colder in Colorado, especially at night, so I was feeling like a wintry read. And what could be more perfect than a lesbian romance set in Lake City, which is only about a hundred miles away from me? I've never been to Lake City, but I've been to Gunnison and Blue Mesa (where the Lake City turnoff road is located), and the area is gorgeous. Plus those beautiful San Juan Mountains that Ryan keeps mentioning? I can see them to the southeast when I stand in my back yard. So I was excited to read this book. And, at first, it seemed like it was going to be good. The setting was gorgeous, and although the premise was a little weak, I could deal with that. But as the story dragged on, the plot kept lagging, and then toward the end, weird things that were never addressed or mentioned in the rest of the book were thrown in, like the author knew that the story was lacking in depth and SOMETHING had to happen. Combined with the huge font, I felt like the author was trying to stretch a short novella into a book-length novel.First off, I am not a big fan of "convert" romances - as in, one of the characters is a lesbian and "converts" the other to being a lesbian. Ugh. I get that Jen was raised in a super-strict and immensely repressed home, but I was also extremely sheltered growing up and I knew that I was into girls. (I thought that something was wrong with me, and I tried to dismiss it, but I still knew.) I'm not saying that everyone knows - there are a lot of stories of women marrying men when they are young and then realizing that they are actually lesbians later in life - but still, I just don't like these type of romances. And I thought that it was unrealistic that Brad, Jen's boyfriend, was perfectly okay with her breaking up with him. They didn't even have any emotional breakdown or pleading or anything - he was just like, "okay, let's stay friends though." What? And a lack of emotion was found throughout the book. There was minimal, if any, character development. There's also absolutely NO heat between Jen and Ryan. I just didn't find their relationship all that believable, and it certainly wasn't compelling. At the end, when Ryan briefly visits her family for her grandmother's birthday celebration, I found myself ready to throw the book across the room. Toward the beginning of the book, Ryan talks about Megan, a girl she cared about deeply when she was young (in her early twenties, I believe). Ryan was torn up because she genuinely loved Megan, but Megan was only after Ryan's money and the fame that came along with it. When Ryan wanted to escape that life, Megan moved on to Charles, Ryan's older brother. I felt bad for Ryan...until she went back home for the weekend. Then it was revealed that Charles, when he was twenty-one, had kind of "set up" Ryan with one of his girls, and HE HAD WATCHED RYAN AND THAT GIRL HAVE SEX WHILE HIDING IN RYAN'S CLOSET. Yes, you read that correctly: Charles watched HIS SISTER have sex with someone he brought home. How disgusting is that? And yet Ryan just kind of laughed it off like it was a joke. I can't even imagine. I would divorce myself from that entire toxic relationship at that point, but she acted like it was no big deal. Are you serious? And then it's revealed that Ryan sometimes poached Charles' girlfriends and slept with them, too. Suddenly, a character I thought was one way was revealed to be something totally different, something that I found totally repulsive. The small amount of sympathy I felt for Ryan was completely obliterated at that point. This is the second book I've read by Gerri Hill, and I'm reluctant to read anything by her again. I know that she is a "name" in the lesbian romance community, but I don't understand it. The first book I read by her, "Storms," also had unsympathetic characters and a creepy protagonist. And then "Snow Falls" has the same problem. Maybe these are the two worst books she's written, but something tells me that isn't true. To be honest, this book feels a lot like one of those Harlequin Presents novels. And I hate those. If you're looking to read something that lacks heat, passion, relatable characters, and something resembling a plot, this book is totally for you! Otherwise, I would recommend skipping it.
