- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I like heroics, I like that they befriended another tribe member, I do not know if Indians were as savage as portrayed, nor do I want to know about stupidly and so much death and painful dying...re buffalo hunts..re the animals or the humans ..etc..our lives are getting worse in this day and age, we have little to look forward to with terrorists and hatred and idiots running our countries,,( most of the countries) our earth suffering probably from the damage we have done testing nuclear weapons and disturbing the earth for miles and miles underground with mining..killing the earth with toxic wastes, killing the fish etc with waste and plastic..thank goodness that here at least, mobile phones are to be banned in Primary schools..should be banned everywhere...gives making all the rules how children now learn and then blaming the teachers for the gifts stupid curriculum when it fails the children..untrained nurses now caring for elderly and the sick ..a few hours a week for a couple of months and suddenly they can distribute medication, so hospitals and NH do not have to pay properly trained and experienced RNs..talk about returning to the Florence Nightingale days..Can’t we at least have some stories that give us a little peace, maybe something to think about and enjoy, instead of gruesome facts or fiction..where on earth do these writers come from? Don’t we have enough terrifying things happening without having to read about such gruesome times whether it’s true or not..do we continually need reminding how horrible real life is...even children’s fantasy movies and tv shows and books are full of horrifying things these days..is it really necessary to plant all that cruelty and horror in our children’s heads etc..no wonder there is so much hatred, fear and cruelty ..it’s drummed into them by our authors in f today..I must admit I could never read the Grimms brothers or even Hans Christian Anderson and a few other children’s authors work when I was young...even Daniel Defoe..etc etc..there were other wonderful stories from Enid Blyton and similar writers that gave you a reason for enjoying imagination etc, Ja Jance is usually tolerable though and similar authors but Mathew Riley...NO! Even Daniel Silva’s books are ok..and similar authors..books about the Amish, books about coffee shop and cake shop owners with murders..none are gory or other the top..trouble is I a, running out of nice non explicit and gory authors..so. Skipped half of this and others..every time something yucky is about to occur, I move on..am I the only reader that feels this way.?
