I would absolutely recommend people who have read the books, to not skip this. You learn of a new cute couple, which was sweet. You finally find out about Arriane's past and why she is burned so bad. Oh so sad! You'll read about Roland's past, and how he loved and lost. I liked this it was cute.

I wasn't big on this one- it was four stories that are back stories about characters (parts of which come chronologically after "Passion," so don't skip ahead to this). It does answer a few questions, and reveal a bit more about some of the characters, and the stories eventually all weave together. I didn't like the first story which was all "OMG! He touched my arm and I'm blushing! I must be in love with him!" It did get better, but I still wasn't as interested as I was in the other novels.

Quick Review: Such a nice break from the craziness that is Luce and Daniel's romance. We see some of it in this, oh yes, but also see stories about the secondary characters.

After sitting through Daniel and Luce's game of 'tag' through time in the last book, this was such a welcome addition to the series!!!! I didn't find myself hating (or, to be fair, really disliking) any of the characters, even stubborn Daniel! And the length? Loved it. We got a complete story in just the right amount of pages.

My suggestion? Don't skip out on this novella!

    Longer review:

I didn't know Lauren Kate was writing a novella for her 'Fallen' series and for that reason I devoured it as soon as I got my hands on. Again, the cover designer has crafted a beautiful cover, a theme in the 'Fallen' world. It has that same soft feel to the binding, a feeling I've come to always connect with the 'Fallen' series.

In past installments of the 'Fallen' series, I have had issues-- major issues-- with characters. For example, half my time spent reading 'Torment' was spent hating Daniel or in 'Passion's case, I got really tired of the game of hide and seek *very* quickly. 'Fallen in Love', I'm glad to say, didn't leave me with any pent up anger regarding the story or characters! Hallelujah!

I don't normally like short stories, but loved how the stories in 'Fallen in Love' had their own plot, but still lead to one big bang finish. The other thing I loved about the short stories? We weren't hit over the head with Daniel and Luce drama. And the best, best, best thing about 'Fallen in Love'? Short story 'Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles'. I've been a fan of Miles and Shelby since they were introduced and LOVE that they got their own story in this novella. Thank you, Lauren Kate, for giving those two their due!

In a sentence, 'Fallen in Love' was such a nice break from the craziness that is Luce and Daniel's romance! Now, bring on 'Rapture'!

Once again, Lauren Kate had my attention from the very first page. Picking up where Passion left, Fallen in Love tells the background stories to some of the main characters that are in the series (Miles and Shelby, Roland, Arriane, and Daniel and Luce). A useful and well written insight to the series, I definitely recommend this book.

Oh deary me. Billed as a romantic collection of love stories from Kate's Fallen universe (slotting in neatly between Passion and Rapture), for me this was the Valentine that didn't deliver. The date that brings you hazelnut chocolates even though you have allergies. The one who gives you a book of cuddly dog pictures even though you're a cat person. The one that tries, but somehow manages to completely and repeatedly miss the mark. The lovely-as-ever cover pretty much sums up the premise with the tagline, 'A Fallen Novel in Stories'. The book is made up of four interlinking Valentine's Day tales, two of which were good, and two of which weren't so good (hence the 2.5 star rating - half good, half bad!). The first, that of Shelby and Miles, was pretty good. They're such loveable and amusing characters already, and the story takes the spark we saw in Passion and gently fans it into a sweetly romantic flame. The second, Roland's story, was a duff one for me. He's such a cool and confident character, it was a bit of a disappointment to see him turning into a fawning stalker over a girl from his past. Arriane's unexpected angel-demon lesbian love story was a pleasant surprise at first, until I realised that three pages in she, too, lost 90% of her humour and energy, and became some kind of melodramatic Wuthering Heights-esque wench instead. Finally we returned to Luce and Daniel, where the book picked up again with their familiar brand of true love, eternal longing, and grand romantic gestures (and the return of the deliciously acerbic gargoyle Bill). At least we started and ended on a high note, right?Ultimately I think Kate made the same mistake here that she did in Passion - she tried to tell too many stories in one book, and it ended up falling flat. I also can't understand divesting her most brilliant characters - the ones who offer light relief to counterbalance the intense romance of Daniel and Luce - of so much of their strength, humour and charm. Instead they get dragged down into heartbreak and overly dramatic confrontation, their tales becoming a jumbled torrent of clunky philosophy and highly-strung emotions. Not exactly a happy book for Valentine's Day! Oh, and one more thing - this quote bothered me: "Why, I was younger than Lucinda when I was a mother made... Seek happy nights to happy days..." Is it just me, or is that Shakespeare's Lady Capulet, then the Nurse, quoted pretty much word for word? This Romeo and Juliet fan was not amused.I guess in the end, this is probably one of those books that you're better off reading for yourself. Personally, I was very disappointed, and would have been even more so had I splashed out on a hardback copy for some romantic Valentine's Day reading. I think it's more of an add-on to the series than a vital part of it (though I haven't read Rapture yet, so please correct me if I'm wrong!) - perhaps it's one for die-hard fans only? Despite all this, I'm still really looking forward to Luce and Daniel's grand finale, where I've heard Kate is finally back on the top form she displayed in Fallen and Torment. Fingers (and wings) crossed!

This series has been very hit or miss for me. I enjoyed the first two books in the series but was disappointed with "Passion" as I didn't like all the time travel. I was disappointed right away to discover that "Fallen In Love" all takes place as yet another trip into the past via announcer. I did like the fact that all four of these short stories are linked together...they take place during the same Valentine's day and one story feeds into the next. I thought that was pretty unique and enjoyed that aspect of the book. Miles and Shelby have a very cute story to kick things off and I think ultimately it remained the best of the four shorts. It sort of reminded me of O.Henry's story "The Gift of the Magi". Roland is one of my favorite characters and his story gave some new insight into his past. Arriane's story had the biggest twist and should have been the best of the bunch but it ended up being disappointing and forgettable. The last story is of Luce and Daniel and it also was a lot of nothing. I am a fan of these extra short stories and novellas authors write for fans. Most of the time these show up as free on the author's websites or are offered for free or cheap as a digital book. "Fallen In Love" is one of these little bonus stories wrapped up in a nice, expensive hardback and its just not worth it. Readers can easily skip this book and not lose a thing as far as reading the rest of the series goes. I look forward to reading "Rapture" and concluding this series.

I found these short stories interesting to read--you really get some insight into some of the characters in the Fallen series. But, I found when I was finished, my overall reaction was merely, "meh." Surprisingly, the best part was Roland's short story. If I were rating the book just on that story, it would have gotten 5 stars. I loved seeing how Roland's past choices consume his present self, and after choosing Lucifer, he can still feel love, shame, and sorrow. Hopefully we can see more of this Roland in Rapture! What bothered me?I got bogged down in all the details again--just like in Passion. There were entire pages that I just skimmed because it was description after description after description. There was a point I wanted to yell, "Get to it already!" Nonetheless, if you like the Fallen series, you should still check this out, just for the sake of seeing a little deeper into the psyche of the angels.

Fallen in Love provides insight into the Guardians and what makes them who they are. I enjoyed the Valentine's Day concept and how Lauren Kate chose to weave the story amongst all the characters. As a sucker for true love, Luce and Daniel's story made me smile. Looking forward to Rapture. :)

Just in time for Valentine's Day, it's FALLEN IN LOVE, four wholly original new stories collected in a new novel set in the Middle Ages by Lauren Kate. FALLEN IN LOVE gives fans the much-talked about but never-revealed stories of FALLEN characters as they intertwine with the epic love story of Luce and Daniel. The stories include: Love (Synopsis provided by goodreads)When Fallen first came out, I was drawn to it by the cover. I loved it! When Torment arrived I could hardly contain my excitement. When Passion was released this past summer, I met the UPS driver in the street to get my copy and it was open before I got back in the house. So you can imagine how excited I was to receive this book.Unfortunately, I was let down by this one. I knew it was a collection of short stories and the book was only 201 pages, and the rest of the pages where the sneak peek at Rapture. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best either. I think this one is my least favorite in the series.I am pretty sure my "issue" with the book is that we never really learned anything new. (At least about Daniel and Luce's fate.) In a way this felt like a companion novel to Passion since it was set in the Middle Ages. Which I liked that part and the descriptions were great, I think I was just hoping for something more then this offered. I did not read the sneak peek for Rapture. I never do just because it makes the wait so much worse, I plan to read it when it comes out. I am very excited to see how Daniel and Luce's story ends.I did like this book, just not as much as I'd hoped. I didn't know until the fall that it was even coming out, which was a great little treat. Overall if you are a fan of the series, pick it up and give it a read.

This book contain several short stories of love with in the world of the Fallen series. I admit that I didn't like all of the stories. But there was one that stood out to me that I loved. The stories in the book were:Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles , Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland; Burning Love: The Valentine of Arriane; and Endless Love: The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda."The one that I loved the most is The Valentine of Roland. His story is so heart aching beautiful! I fell in love with what he did. His selflessness to protect and love her even from afar. This story took my breathe away. The other story was Endless Love. This is another story of Daniel and Luce just trying to be together again. I really like how all of the stories revolve around different characters in and out of Daniel and Luce's life. Ms. Kate created a different setting with each character. To see them in another time, another place was really neat. If you enjoy the Fallen series, you will enjoy this book! All the stories are great in detail and leave the reader even in more in love with Daniel, Luce and the other great characters in the Fallen series.*homosexuality*

Read the full review here. The idea of this collection if stories intrigued me when it was first announced, and I have been waiting to get my hands on it. I think that the stories told by different characters were enlightening. I feel this book could improve on its execution. The love stories seem haphazardly thrown together, and I had hoped for more connections between them. Overall the book was a nice read. It was interesting to read about Luce and Daniel’s Valentine’s Day, to get to know all the characters a little better. I enjoyed the excerpt of Rapture at the end and look forward to reading it. I think Fallen in Love should have been released as an e-book, it seemed to me that I had spent a lot of money and dedicated shelf space for a book that took me just over an hour to read, which I will probably never read again.

To me, this book felt unnecessary... I don't know, I had this feeling in Fallen of Gothic beauty and mystery of angels, but the series has lost this depth by each book. I hope the ending (the last installment) redeems the series.

This book was a nice filter book between Passion and Rapture. It made it easier for me and probably for other readers too to understand most of the main characters better. Also nobody can deny that there's always something so romantic about Valentine's day even if there were some unfortunate and sad events on this valentine's day.
This book also helps in filling the cap between Passion and rapture quite nicely. It was also very quick to read because of the short stories in the book. It never got boring so you just had to read it all the way the end on one-sitting.

A great side story to the Fallen series. Everyone deserves a little happiness in their lives.

I was glad that Lulu is mentioned very little in this. The story of Shelby and Miles through the announcers and finding comfort in each other is good. You sort of feel sorry for Miles and the way Lucy toys with his emotions. We get to read the softer side to Shelby. They both strip away the barriers and share with each other.

I want to read more of Cam though. I have read Rapture reviews and it sounds like I will miss out on knowing more. I'm sure we will learn even more of Daniel in Rapture.

I love novellas. They normally give you a short piece of a back story in a series that you are reading. This sweet tale fills us in on the current attractions that take place other than Luce and Daniel. All in Medieval England on Valentine's Day.

Okay, this book takes you back to the plot line in Passion. You are taken back to Luce’s past in medieval times. You follow the lives of Miles, Shelby, Roland, Arriane, and of course Luce & Daniel. Each of these stories take place on Valentine’s Day.

When I finished this book I thought to myself, “That’s it?” I liked the fact that we were able to take a peak into the lives of some of the other characters. But I was left wanting more. The story of Miles and Shelby was kind of dull, and expected. Reading Roland’s story made my heart break. That little snippet of time in Roland’s life allowed us to see why he started acting the way he does in present time. I think Arriane’s story was the most touching, and shocking, part of this novel. I felt the pain just as she would, and could never imagine having to go through what she did. I was not impressed with Luce and Daniel’s tale. It was the same thing we’ve heard before. I was happy that they were able to share at least one Valentine’s day in one of their lives together. So that was the only thing I loved about that story.

There is also a preview of the final book of this series, “Rapture.” I, of course, had to read it. Now I wish I hadn’t because I definitely cannot wait until it comes out in July. Cam’s smartass comments are bounding just in the first chapter.

I only give this book 3 stars because while I was bored with some of the stories, I loved being able to see other characters lives. If you’re a fan of the series, you will like this book.

Loved it! All four stories were really good, I loved learning the backstory of Roland and Arriane, that was a treat! And Shelby and Miles' story was super cute and of course Luce's and Daniel's story was awesome! It's great how it continued the story from Passion and that it ties into Rapture.

I know this book is not technically part of the series, but it is the best one so far. She focused on some of the other characters, and did not drone on and on about Daniel and Luce. It was a series of different love stories on one Valentines Day. Some worked out some didn't. I love stories like that.

A lovely little book with strays from the path of the main story revolving around Daniel and Luce. It adds back story to the characters of Miles, Shelby, Roland, and Arriane, and also lets us access a time when Daniel encounters Luce in a past incarnation that we don't see in the main storyline.

May Contain Spoilers, if you actually careEarlier this year I gave A Man Named Dave: A Story of Triumph and Forgiveness by Dave Pelzer the title of "Most Unnecessary Book Ever". I think this title needs to be divided into genres, because he still gets it for 'Memoir' but this book, Fallen In Love deserves it for 'YA Paranormal' or whatever you want to call this genre. So, I hereby give Fallen In Love the title of "Most Unnecessary YA Paranormal Book Ever."This book adds nothing to the Fallen series. Nothing. I don't even like the Fallen series that I am in the midst of reading, but this is the book I truly regret wasting my $16.99 on. What a ripoff! I'm not the first person to say it, but Kate's really milking the cash cow on this one.Timeline wise, this book fits in just before the end of Book 3, but I can't work out which life Luce came from before landing here in medieval England (not that it really matters). Shelby, Miles and Roland have all ended up there, too. And despite being told multiple times, DO NOT MESS WITH THE PAST. What do they do? They mess with the past, to give Luce and Daniel a 'Valentine's Day like no other'. But, if you think this means sexytimes, well you're wrong. It just means flowers and swooning and whatnot. As well as that, we get some backstory to Roland and Arianne, and then Shelby and Miles fall in love randomly, despite the fact that all they talk about is Luce and Daniel. Everyone is so obsessed with Luce and Daniel and I frankly don't understand the appeal. You do not need to read this book as part of the Fallen series. If you're reading the series just to read the series, I wouldn't bother with this one unless you too are obsessed with Luce and Daniel and you like their sappy romance and other sappy romances.I was glad to see the introduction of LBGT characters and also liked how emphasis wasn't placed on the fact that they were LBGT (does that apply to angels?), but more on the good vs. evil battle. I don't understand Tess' reasons for siding with Lucifer and I certainly don't agree with the 'you must choose' mentality. It was interesting but I felt like Kate ruined it with the rushed storyline.200 pages of crap is not worth the money I paid for it. Should have made it a cheap novella online or even a free ebook with the purchase of another title, for the diehards who are actually enjoying this series.
