About this audiobook

Veterinary intern Emily can't believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of in a Los Angeles clinic like she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.

Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn't just a laid-back doctor but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans.

Then Came You is an absolutely delightful addition to Jill Shalvis fabulous Animal Magnetism series. It is a fun, sexy, witty and poignant romance with an incredibly charming cast of quirky but lovable characters. The small town setting and close-knit community add to its appeal and fans will enjoy catching up with favorite characters from previous installments.

Emily Stevens has a Plan, but the small town of Sunshine, ID is not on it. Neither is finding out her new boss is none other than Wyatt Stevens, the über sexy veterinarian she shared a scorching one night stand with at a vet conference a few months back. She and Wyatt agree to keep their relationship strictly professional, but ignoring their simmering passion is easier said than done and they are soon indulging in some very steamy lovemaking. Their relationship is quickly complicated by their deepening feelings for another, but will the unresolved issues from their respective pasts (and Emily's Plan) prevent them from making their temporary arrangement permanent?

Living in Sunshine with her sister Sara, Emily is counting down the days until she can return to LA where she can have her dream job and help take care of their widowed father. She is a warm, caring and compassionate woman who pretty much says everything that pops into her head. When it comes to Wyatt, she has absolutely no willpower and she easily gives into her desire for him. Although Emily is beginning to fall for him, her inability to deviate from her Plan is a major stumbling block between them.

Wyatt is laidback, funny, loyal and so darn charming he is almost impossible to resist. Continually moving around while growing up, the only stability in Wyatt and his sisters' lives were the summers they spent with their grandparents in Sunshine. Now ready to put down roots, he is helping his sisters Zoe and Darcy renovate the Victorian monstrosity their grandparents left them before he begins building his house. Wyatt's feelings for Emily run deep but he stubbornly refuses to ask her to abandon her Plan and stay in Sunshine.

Wyatt and Emily are a wonderful, if sometimes frustrating, couple. The chemistry between them is off the charts and their sex scenes are deliciously steamy. Their dialogue is amusing but somewhat superficial since neither is willing to open up about their pasts for much of the story. Although they do eventually discuss some of their emotional baggage, they are not completely honest with one another when it comes to their future.

Then Came You is another entertaining and heartwarming installment in the Animal Magnetism series. It is a fast-paced and well-written story that is realistic and engaging, but it is the cast of characters that make it such an outstanding read. Intriguing glimpses of Darcy's rather tempestuous encounters with AJ Colten leave me hoping that Jill Shalvis plans to bring us their story in the near future.

Look out Lucky Harbor, this series is coming to take your belt for the contemporary romance series champion. Emily is a newly graduated veterinarian, who has been granted an internship in Sunshine, Idaho. She likes things planned out and is counting the days until she can go back to L.A. She let herself lose control once at a veterinarian conference and had a one night stand with a hot guy. I'll give you three guesses as to what happens next and the first two don't count.

Wyatt is pleasantly surprised when he realizes his hot one night stand is helping him deliver a lamb. He is a genuinely good guy and you're going to find him just as irresistible as Emily. Emily has a specific life plan and worries about her dad alone in L.A., Wyatt is solidly in Sunshine and doesn't want to get his heart broken by someone who seems to have one foot out the door. Due to growing up in a situation that left him never having a say in his life choices and rootless, he firmly leaves the ball in Emily's court as to how their relationship is going to progress. This doesn't mean he doesn't encourage her, in fact, your toes will curl at his encouragement. These two together are great, they're sexy, funny, and a pleasure to read about, you know, your typical Jill Shalvis book. Usually, I describe her stories as very fluffy but this one felt a little more solid. It's still a light read but I think it was the best of the series.

Shalvis books are smooth paced stories that you suddenly find yourself devouring in one sitting; this one is no exception. It drags a smidgen in the middle where Emily's denial to accept and admit to her feelings for Wyatt get a tad repetitive but that is a small complaint. There is also, what seems to be the required, heroine mini danger moment that all Shalvis books have. It was a little forced, especially with the baddie (I'm making a ka'razy call and saying the chocolate chip baddie will somehow be redeemed a'la Sebastian St. Vincent style) but nothing that will stem your overall enjoyment. This genre's backbone is the hero and heroine's relationship and Emily and Wyatt will have your heart melting. Don't miss this newest Animal Magnetism installment.

It also looks like I'm going to resume my stalking of Jill Shalvis as I eagerly (obsessively) anticipate A.J. and Darcy's story. This is a guess on who the couple will be but I'm going to call it an educated one.

I've read a few of Jill's books and she has become my go to author for a sweet read. I loved that while the two main characters obviously loved each other they never once let on to the other. It was like so may relationships that I felt entirely connected to both Wyatt and Emily. My heart broke for both of them, but I'm glad that Mrs. Shavis did not disappoint in the end

When Emily Stevens arrives at the Belle Haven clinic in Sunshine, Idaho, she is interested in one thing only - finishing her year-long veterinary internship and moving back to Los Angeles. Little does she know that the best laid plans are often sent awry when she meets her new supervisor, Wyatt Stone - the one-night stand she never thought to see again...

This is one of those rare series where the later books are better than the earlier ones. The characters are engaging, the romance is steamy and the small time vibe is charming.

Wyatt, aka Dr. Sexy, certainly lives up to his nickname and his chemistry with Emily is off the charts. The two don’t seem able to keep their hands of each other and their banter is only icing on the cake. The main difficulty lies in their inability to commit, but this is, thankfully, resolved without too much angst.

The mini-suspense plot adds an extra layer of tension to the story, which is, nonetheless, solidly in the contemporary romance genre.

All in all, a thoroughly entertaining read and I’m looking forward to reading AJ and Darcy’s book next.

Then Came You is the fifth book in the Animal Magnetism Series and a lot of fun to read. I enjoyed Emily and Wyatt's passion, but watching the two veterinarians work with the local animal population, in and out of the vet clinic, was my favorite part of the book! Pets are the fastest way to my "feels" button and Shalvis seamlessly took me from chuckling with humor to gut-wrenching tears over the plight of the pets and creatures of Sunshine, Idaho. It was a neat way for the couple to bond and eventually fall in love. The series is taking a pretty steamy turn, which is okay, but I do wish there had been more talking between the couple in the early stages of their relationship. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book!

Each time I read one of the books in this series I think "this one's my favorite!" So not to disappoint this one is my favorite!! The beauty of these stories is how real the characters feel. Wyatt and Emily are perfect together but each have their baggage. Neither wants to be the one that states their feelings first, each waiting for the other until it's too late. Thank goodness they came to their senses. Bring on the next one, I'm sure it will be my favorite ..... hehe

This is the fifth book in the Animal Magnetism series but it can be read standalone, but really, why would you want to?? I definitely recommend this one.

Then Came You by Jill Shalvis is a 2014 Berkley Publication. What a cute story! I enjoy most anything this author writes, but I don't get to read as many of her novels as I would like with my review schedule. However, I'm hoping to feature the author on my blog in the near future, so I used that as an excuse to check out some titles I have missed. This one was miraculously available on the Overdrive app, so I quickly snatched it up. Now, I see why it was so popular. Emily winds up in Sunshine, Idaho to fulfill her internship at the veterinarian clinic, which wasn't exactly where she was hoping to land. To put the cherry on the cake, the guy she had a one night stand with at a convention a few months back, just happens to be her new supervisor. Could things get any better? Wyatt is firming rooted in Sunshine while taking responsibility for his two sisters, who still need a little guidance. The last person he expected to ever see again was Emily. Despite all attempts to remain strictly professional, to pretend they never had that one mind blowing encounter, to keep their hands off one another, fails spectacularly. While Emily and Wyatt aren't total opposite , life's hardships have shaped the way they approach challenges and change, and how they deal with problems. Emily is decision maker, and sometimes, not only for her own self, but for other people as well. She's also an organizer and a planner, and her plans do not include Sunshine, Idaho. She's hot to get back to LA , almost to the point of having a little tunnel vision in that area. Wyatt on the other hand likes to give people space to make choices for themselves without his input or influence, if possible. “His smile faded and he stroked a stray strand of hair along her temple, tucking it behind her ear, wondering what it would be like if they were even halfway suited for each other.”For those who haven't gotten around to reading this one yet, I predict you ladies will fall for Wyatt, who has all the qualities anyone could possibly ask for in a hero. “ He was strong. He was strong, inside as well as out. He was smart and funny and protective, and incredibly sexy. But more than just about everything else, he was rock solid steady and unflappable. A guy you wanted at your back. Emily could be one dimensional at times, but she could be pretty funny too. “The beer loosened her tongue, two beers separated it from her brain. So naturally she had two.” At first I was a little concerned about the lack of build up between the couple, since of course we know they've already hooked up, but the two can't stop going at each other, so there is no suspenseful 'will they or won't they' in that regard, so the question really is whether or not they've built a strong enough emotional bond to make the relationship stick. With pets and animals as the backdrop and Wyatt's super difficult and outspoken sister, Darcy keeping him on his toes, the story never had a dull moment. If you like romantic comedy, I think you will love this book. I'm so glad I took time out to read this one. 4 stars

What happens in Reno doesn't necessarily stay in Reno. Emily is a recent vet school graduate who is set to be an intern with a practice in Sunshine, Idaho. It isn't the internship she wanted, as she had also applied for one in LA, which was closer to her father. But she'll do the job required to fulfill her vet school scholarship, even if it means a year in the middle of nowhere. She gets a real shock when she discovers that one of the vets she'll be working with is the sexy guy she had a one night stand with at a vet conference in Reno. Getting involved with him isn't part of her life plan. Emily is a woman who has reacted to the ups and downs of her life by laying out a plan she is determined to follow, a way of keeping control of her life. Wyatt is a complication she doesn't need and is determined to ignore. Wyatt hasn't forgotten the woman he met in Reno and is surprised to see her in Sunshine. The attraction is just as hot as it was then, but there are obstacles. Emily is a woman who, in his words, already "has one foot out the door". He grew up with parents who were constantly on the move and as a result, has craved putting down roots of his own. He has settled in Sunshine, in the house his grandparents left him, and has no desire to leave. He's already been burned once by a woman who chose her career over him and has no wish to risk his heart on another such woman. The chemistry between Emily and Wyatt is explosive. No matter how determined they are to keep things professional, they just can't keep their hands off each other. Outside of the physical connection, they also get to know each other. I loved seeing how well they work together, and how their differences and similarities bring them closer. I loved seeing Wyatt tease Emily and get her worked up, and how she would sometimes turn the tables on him. It wasn't long before their physical connection turned deeper, but neither wanted to admit it. Emily started to feel like she belonged in Sunshine, but abandoning her plan was something that she had trouble considering, especially since she had no idea what Wyatt's feelings were. Without that, leaving seemed to be the wiser course of action. Wyatt had fallen for Emily, but because he had been given no choices earlier in his life, he refuses to try to influence others' choices, so he doesn't ask Emily to stay. Both of them have to face their personal fears before they can go after what they really want. I did love the ending and seeing how they finally got together. As always, the secondary characters are as much fun as the main ones. Both Wyatt and Emily have sisters that make their lives even more complicated. Emily's sister has moved to Sunshine with her, escaping from a broken heart. Sara is a lot like their father, less concerned with following a plan than following her heart and doing what feels right. She tries her best to get Emily to see that she is hurting herself by not looking at the bigger picture. Wyatt has two sisters who share their grandmother's house with him. The older sister, Zoe, is bossy and opinionated, but obviously loves her siblings. The younger sister, Darcy, is recovering from a serious accident and has some interesting bouts of attitude. I'm really looking forward to her story, as the sparks between her and AJ are pretty hot. I liked seeing characters from previous books and catching up with what is happening in their lives. The animals in the book are great. There are patients like Lady, the dog with the odd quirk, and the reason for it, and the parrot with the potty mouth who lives in the vet office. I loved Emily's rescue of the turtle, Sammy, and how it wiggled into her heart. But the one that really got to me was the puppy Woodrow and how she got him. His part in what happened later wasn't a surprise, but one of the players there did surprise me.

Jill Shalvis is one of my go-to authors when I want to spend some time with wonderful characters that tend to be drawn inexorably together and have chemistry aplenty. The dialogue is never stilted and the male and female characters are always people that you would want to have as friends. Emily, the veterinarian intern, head off to Sunshine, Idaho to work for a year. This internship is not the one she hoped for but she will make do. Wyatt is one of the veterinarians that she will work with – and there are sparks aplenty. Both of them have issues to be dealt with if they are to end up together. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who wants a book filled with witty dialogue, wonderful two and four legged creatures and likes a happy ending.

This was a sweet, quick enjoyable read. Both Wyatt and Emily are likeable characters who are trying to fight the issues of their pasts. I don't love 'come here, come here, come here.... go away, go away, go away....' realationships so that bothered me a little and I thought they both could have been 'fleshed' out a bit. All in all though, a nice read.

I kept hearing such great things about the Animal Magnetism and the Lucky Harbor series, and with a cumulative total of over 154,000 ratings averaging over 4 points on Goodreads for all her books, I just knew I had to try a Jill Shalvis title. Then Came You delivers on so many fronts, it's hard to describe them all. The first that come to mind are: great chemistry, humor and even an interesting secondary character plot highlighting the crazy world of sibling interrelationships. Jill Shalvis: you've just gained a new fan! Now, if only I could find a vet like Wyatt! Although this is book 5 in the Animal Magnetism series, it is not necessary to have read the prior books to enjoy this one, as each focuses on the love life of a different couple. I did, however, get the sense that some of the characters had been introduced in prior installments and, therefore, if you plan to read the entire series (and after reading this one, I know I want to!), there is some benefit to reading the books in chronological order.Imagine Emily Steven's surprise, when the first day in her veterinary internship in Sunshine, Idaho, she finds out that her boss is the man who she had her one and only, one-night stand with. She had met him while attending a veterinary conference in Reno, Nevada, and throwing away her normally scripted life, had had the most passionate night of her life assuming that she would never have to see him again. This is just the topper on her already bad luck of drawing this internship. Living in the rural town of Sunshine for a year, has no room in her life plan. She had had it all figured out. She was going to land the internship in Beverly Hills, CA (the one-year internship being a requirement of her vet school scholarship), make tons of money, and marry John (her college study partner, who for the record, she had never actually dated). But then her mother's multiple sclerosis flared up right before she left for school, and given her divided attention, the other scholarship recipient got her first choice. Dr. Wyatt Stone is the "McDreamy" of all vets. He has a way with words that causes his patients and women to do what he asks them to do, and can always diffuse any tense situation with just the sweet sounds of his voice. All the women in Sunshine are crazy about him, and there is no end of ladies who are willing to stop by the clinic to drop off a casserole for him in the hopes of catching his attention. In light of Emily's plans, Wyatt does his best to act in a professional manner. But no matter how hard they try to ignore each other, their attraction is undeniable. Finally, Emily capitulates and begs him for one more night. But as she has made it clear that he is not in her long-term plan, Wyatt is unwilling to open up to Emily, much to her chagrin. Physically, they seem unable to stay away from one another. Even if at the same time, they seem unwilling to let go of past demons to open up to one another. With such "preexisting conditions", can there possibly be a HEA in the future for Emily and Wyatt?Further complicating, and adding great humor to, this story, are Wyatt's and Emily's sisters. Each is perfectly capable of tormenting them, while at the same time willing to go to great ends to protect them. There is even a touch of suspense and danger when injured dogs start unexplainably showing up near Emily's home, providing the perfect opportunity for Wyatt to show off his protective alpha side.I loved the attention to character development. So often, the romance is rushed and feels forced. While this book contains plenty of hot steamy scenes--well before a true emotional love connection evolves--I loved how Ms. Shalvis took her time developing the ties between the characters. I also enjoyed how Ms. Shalvis used the interrelationships between siblings, to slowly reveal each characters' background and to force Wyatt and Emily to question their plans and coping mechanisms eventually fostering growth. Then Came You has two meaningful messages. Sometimes we have to push aside outdated plans to make room for true happiness, and you should never pass up an opportunity to speak up for what you want when true love hangs in the balance. If these messages appeal to you, and you have a sweet spot for animals, strong heroines and alpha heroes, then I highly recommend Then Came You!Source: A review copy was provided to me by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Vivacious Valkyrie - Marta:*Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review--Actual rating 4.5 SkullsThis is book five in this authors Animal Magnetism series and lives up to all the hype surrounding it. Ms Shalvis consistently writes stories that feature likeable characters struggling with life's adversities and yet somehow meeting that special someone. With this author a warm fuzzy feeling is almost always guaranteed when you read her fun sexy romances and happily this book was no different.Emily has been training hard to become a Vet whilst trying to be a supportive daughter but her Internship in out of the way Sunshine Idaho might just be a step too far! It's bad enough that she really wants to be closer to her lonely father so she can keep an eye on him but when she walks in and meets the guy she recently had a one night stand with ( her first ever!) and he turns out to be her new boss; what's Emily to do? Wyatt is sex on legs and boy does Emily remember just how good with his hands he was! For the sake of her job though, they must keep things professional . So strictly professional sounds like a good idea but just one more night sounds even better to Emily's libido and darn it but Wyatt seems only too happy to help! What's a girl to do? No this job is important so Emily is determined to ignore the raging attraction she feels for Wyatt and besides she has no intention of staying in Idaho or does she?Great piece of pure escapism. Two characters both trying to deny what they feel and yet at the same time so conflicted . Emily has sacrificed a lot to be the perfect daughter and has a plan and being stuck long term in Idaho is not it! She can cope with one year but being in Sunshine she slowly lets her guard down and starts to realise that life is happening all around her and maybe it's time to just start to live rather then make plans. Wyatt is a guy who has always needed to put down roots and he's finally where he wants to be. He has always been attracted to intelligent gorgeous career women but has suffered heartbreak as none have ever put him first. Falling for Emily who can't wait to leave is definitely not a good idea so guarding his heart is a must. Slight problem though as every time they are alone together sparks well and truly fly! This is a lovely sweet romance, but there's also a mystery wrapped in it, so watch out for the bad guy! I liked that there's sub plots going on and interesting supporting characters . I have to admit that Emily was an unexpected heroine and constantly amazed me with her appetites and can I say she's very very weak willed when it comes to the sexy Wyatt! Although who could blame her? Another winner from this author who writes with such aplomb that frankly I'm amazed I hadn't tried her sooner! Perfect light summer read full of romance and just enough drama to capture my attention. Ms Shalvis is clearly a master of this type of book and I can't wait to read more!
