      Blood of My Blood picks up right where Game left off, which means it starts on a nerve-wracking note and just ramps up the tension from there. Howie is bleeding out on the floor of Jazz's home, after potentially accidentally killing Jazz's grandmother. Connie is in Billy's clutches. And Jazz is in a storage unit with a bunch of dead bodies, doomed to die of blood loss, dehydration, or infection if no one finds him.I read most of this book over the course of two days, because I needed to find out what would happen to the characters and whether they'd be okay. In the previous books, the odds always seemed pretty good that Jazz, Connie, and Howie would survive. But this was the final book in the trilogy. Would Lyga let them live? Was a "good" ending even possible for Jazz? I hoped so, but I definitely didn't know for sure. In fact, I worried about these characters so much that I broke down at one point and read the last page of the book. I don't recommend that, by the way - it spoils a pretty major revelation.Thinking about it now, the whole "Crow King" aspect was difficult to believe. These were largely not the sort of people who'd let one individual have any sort of power over them or knowledge about them. It was even more difficult to believe that they'd accept that particular Crow King.However, this book and its characters had such a tight hold on me that it didn't matter whether that stuff was believable or not. I just needed to see how things were going to turn out, even if it was awful and bloody.Weirdly, I thought this book was actually far less gory than the previous one. Less gory, but still absolutely horrific. I felt so bad for Jazz - major content warnings for child abuse.The "5 years later" epilogue almost felt like a fairy tale after everything that came before it, or maybe a dream one of the characters was having. That said, I'm glad Lyga included it. It gave some closure and reassurance, of a sort. I'll miss these characters.(Original review posted on A Library Girl's Familiar Diversions.)

      This series was hard to read...horrific, bloody, frightening, creepy, but soooo well written. The characters are so real that Jasper's father literally makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. He is scary! This third and last book in the Jasper Dent series does not disappoint. It cranks things up to a crescendo that will have readers forgetting to breathe! A really excellent series for teens and adults alike!

      An excellent series. I recommend "I Hunt Killers" to anyone that enjoys Criminal Minds, CSI, Dexter or other similar shows. An intriguing look inside the mind of a could-be serial killer.

      I'll be totally honest and say I had a little trouble getting into this book at first but I think I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time because when I picked it up again I couldn't put it down. Jazz is amazing in this novel and his character development is heartbreaking and amazing. I feel so bad for him! And poor Connie and Howie! They had to go through so much but they stuck through it! I totally called that plot twist though. I'm glad that Jazz didn't end up killing his parents. I don't think he would have recovered from that. I really liked this book and it did a great job of wrapping the series and the ending was very satisfying! I'll have to read some of the short stories now.

      Final installment in the series with Jazz in New York facing his father and the mysterious Crows and their Crow King. Suspense, drama, danger, and death fill this conclusion to the series as Jazz tries to keep himself, Connie, and Howie alive. He has to use all his physical and mental strength to take on his twisted, sadistic father and also deal with his relationships while learning his mother is still alive. Shocking twists and turns within his family leave Jazz questioning if he will truly follow in his father's footsteps. Great book with incredible ending.

      This is Book #3 in the Jasper Dent series, and it is my favourite. I could not put down this whole book series and was sad when I was finished this one (although I could not have thought up a better ending!).This book is a roller-coaster ride of suspense and plot twists, but the use of humour still manages to keep the book relatively light. In this book Jasper and his friends pursue Jasper's Dad (Billy). I don't want to give away any of the plot, but suffice it to say you need to go buy this trilogy now!I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

      Where do I begin? I'll tell you right now, when I started this journey I wasn't expecting to become so deeply immersed. I was simply excited about the prospect of reading something new. A book from the perspective of a notorious serial killer's son sounded intriguing and original. I wasn't expecting to fall so in love with Jasper. Wasn't prepared to become so involved in the story that the very well-being of these characters would actually cause me emotional pain. Looking back now, I don't know what I was hoping for from Barry Lyga. What I found though, was a trilogy that was destined to become one of my absolute favorites.

      I started this with some trepidation. I was so gutted at the end of the last book. Blood of My Blood picks up precisely where I left off, and it's almost like I never stopped reading in the first place. All the nervous energy, anger and rage I felt at the end of the last book came back full force when I opened this to the first chapter. I was honestly anxious to see that these characters were safe. I wanted more of the their story, and at the same time I was terrified to see what awaited them. This book is very Billy Dent oriented. It's bloody, violent, and downright disturbing in places. If you thought the first two books were tough to stomach? This one might just set a new bar for that. Poor, poor Jasper.

      As last books go, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about what Lyga has offered up to his readers. While this is a much darker book than the last two, it's no surprise. Lyga neatly lays out all the remaining cards on the table, sets up all the things we've known were coming around the bend, and then ties everything up with a black satin bow. I was on edge the whole read. Constantly having to keep myself from skimming ahead. This story pulls no punches. It has no problem with reaching inside you to pull at the emotional strings it needs to. It's visceral, and expertly done. I can't deny, I loved every single damn minute of it.

      Since I met first met Jasper Dent, he's become firmly cemented as one of my favorite male characters of all time. There's something about Jasper that's just more. He's not your normal teenage boy. The child of a serial killer, the product of a horrible environment, he still attempts to rise above. Jasper's duality is terrifying and beautiful at the same time. There is a darkness that dwells inside him, constantly rattling around in his brain, urging him to break. It battles against the part of him that just wants to be a blissfully normal member of society. I have followed him for three books of pain, suffering, loss and love. I'd have followed him for at least that many more. I'll miss you Jasper. Thanks for the journey.

      ‘What’s it like to go looking for your soul, only to learn you never had one to begin with?’Blood of My Blood is the epic conclusion to the story of Jasper Dent. Picking up from the cliffhangers of Game, Connie has stumbled into the clutches of Billy Dent himself, Howie is in the hospital, and Jasper is grasping at straws trying to figure out how he’s going to save his mother after being shot. Jasper has also fought with knowing who his father is and knowing that his blood runs through his veins. He becomes resigned to the fact that he’s the only one that’s going to be able to truly stop his father and the realization that he must become him to do just that is distressing to watch unfold.Wow. Talk about sick and twisted revelations. We’ve known from the beginning that Jasper’s a tad bit twisted, but that’s to be expected being the son of a serial killer. But Lyga reeeeaaalllly took the ferocity and perverseness to the next level. While I’ve heard that a lot of people saw the twist coming coming, I was pleased that the big shocker managed to evade me and when the big reveal happened… whoa.I read this installment immediately after Game which definitely helped seeing as there is very little to no recapping. In comparison to Game, which took me over 2 weeks to finish, Blood is infinitely more thrilling and I practically swallowed this story whole in under 24 hours. My main issue with most trilogy/series reads is when conclusions lack any sort of final gratification. I’m happy to say that Lyga’s end to Jazz’s story is fulfilling but matches the tone of the whole trilogy without treading into “happily ever after” territory.Blood of My Blood is a very fast paced wallop of a story and is a most satisfying end to this dark trilogy.

      The last time we last saw Jasper (Jazz) Dent, he had been shot and was laying bleeding in a storage unit, unable to escape. It’s been evident throughout the series that Jazz is extremely intelligent, but when you’re lying on the ground, bleeding out, even the best of us are a little muddled.But that, unfortunately, isn’t the only problem Jazz has on his plate right now. His father, the most notorious serial killer in history, is after him, and the legendary “Crow King,” whom Jazz always thought was just a disturbing figure in his father’s bedtime tales, is actually very real. But who is the Crow King, the head of a sick organization of serial killers? Is it Jazz’s father, or someone else Jazz may know? A fast-paced tale, Blood of My Blood is a page-turner as the reader begins to figure out if Jazz is slowly becoming like his father, or if he’s fighting the fate he believes he has. Just like the other books in this series, readers should exercise caution: extreme violence, gore, and sexual situations (including an extremely disturbing discussion of incest) are all described. The book also includes an epilogue at the end, which some readers may find disappointing. Although it provides information on the fates of certain people, it also, in many ways, feels like a letdown after such an exciting book. For the most part, though, Blood of My Blood is a satisfying conclusion to the I Hunt Killers series. Highly recommended. Grades 9 and up.
