This is the 3rd book in this series and they all took place on the Outer Banks in a coastal town called Hope Beach. It can easily be read as a stand alone story, but the characters from book one and two are a part of this story also. It makes me want to go and visit this quaint town. It is a story of mystery, suspense and romance. I like how this author keeps you guessing throughout the story when it comes to who the "bad guy" is. Once again, there was a little bit of a surprise and twist to this story. There was a lot going on and I never got bored reading this story!.Elin Summerall has received a new heart after a virus damaged her heart. But ever since she has received her new heart she has dreams of a murder she never witnessed; the murder of her heart's donor. Police don't believe her and since she feels her life is in danger she flees to Hope Beach. There she seeks the help of Marc Everton, to protect her and her daughter and mother. She hasn't seen Marc since the night her father died and when Marc meets her daughter, he suddenly realizes the little girl is his and Elin has kept this secret from him for years. Watching this all unfold keeps you busy reading, to get to the end and see how all this will work out for good. I am very impressed with this author's writing style and have read many of her books. If you love romantic suspense novels you won't be disappointed in this series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Colleen Coble has outdone herself once again! I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but after what I just experienced, I definitely want to!

The main character, Elin, lost her husband two years ago. She suffered from a terrible virus that left her with no other option but to receive a heart transplant by a local girl who had been murdered. Suddenly, Elin's life is changed forever as she possesses memories of the girl's life...including her murder. Most people write her off as mad, but as a mysterious man continues to haunt her dreams, and her reality, the plot thickens. No matter how much she tries to escape, she is somehow always found.

Oh, and did I mention her daughter who secretly belongs to the FBI agent tracking the case?

Seagrass Pier seized me in the first few pages. You begin with a thrill, an air of mystery, some suspense, and a dash of romance, all within the very first chapter. The story moved at the perfect speed as we hit the ground running with an addictive plot. It is a contemporary engaging work and I was truly on the edge of my seat the entire time, frantically turning pages to see what was going to happen next. If you like a book that moves fast and carries multiple key elements that require resolution, then this is definitely the book for you.

I'm still being introduced to Colleen Coble as a writer, and I must say, this was a great introduction! I have one of her books from the Lighthouse Series that I have yet to read, and this has definitely inspired me to pick it up.

Seagrass PierColleen CobleBook Summary: In a secluded corner of Hope Beach, one woman must decipher a stranger’s memories . . . before they cost her everything. Elin Summerall was one of the lucky ones. Not only did she get a heart transplant, but the donor was a perfect fit. A miraculously perfect fit. The police are dubious of her story, but one off-duty FBI agent is eager to help her: Agent Marc Everton, the father of Elin’s daughter. Of course, he doesn’t know about that. Yet. Now, in a remote cottage on Hope Island, Elin and Marc must probe the secrets buried in her borrowed heart. And there’s no time to waste. One man is desperate to silence her—before she remembers too much.Review: I love Colleen Coble books and this one is another winner. It is a great standalone book with some of the previous characters showing up from the other Hope Beach books. I loved the secondary mystery and was a little sad this was not played out a little more, but was just as exciting. I loved the mystery and was putting the pieces together as Marc and Elin were. They made a fun couple to read about and the entire book was filled with an enjoyable storyline and great characters. They were introduced slowly and blossomed the storyline even greater. Since I began reading Colleen Coble’s books the one quality that has never changed is the spine chilling fun that her mysteries pack in them. I would like to thank Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

Seagrass Pier (The Hope Beach Series) was a suspense novel I finished this past week. Elin receives a heart donation from a woman who was murdered. Through this plot there are several this going on but it is not overwhelming or hard to follow. She started to nightmares that are not recognizable. She knows they are not her own, but rather are from her heart donor. How can anyone in that situation have support or backing, let along someone believing in her claims. Threats on her life keep this book packed with suspense and second guessing of what will happen next. This is an easy read but remember it is not real life. Several of the plots are not realistic but it is a fictional book. I would recommend this book to a beginner.

Once I picked up this book, I found I didn’t want to put it down; it drew me to turn the pages. When you read the blurb on the back of the book, you get the gist of what this book is about, but not the terror you are going to experience. You will never see what is about to happen, it was one thing after another, and kept changing until the end.How many murderers are there? Are they all related? You will be asking yourself this and other questions, whom can you trust? Just when you think you are at the end and the answers are there, your surprised to find out, nope not all of them.Elin started her marriage to Tim by telling him she had betrayed him and is expecting a child. Oh my, not good, but he seems to want the marriage anyway, and wants the child to carry his name. What a start to a marriage, and he knows who the real father is and sure, not surprisingly, doesn’t like him.The story starts after Elin’s husband has passed and she has received her transplant, but now the dreams start, and her anguish begins. I have to say that the author does a wonderful job of keeping us in the dark, until the last moment. Don’t miss this one it will linger with you for a long time!I’ve read most of Colleen Coble’s books, and this one ranks right at the top!I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

Action-packed suspense is the hallmark of Colleen Coble’s newest offering in the popular Hope Beach series, Seagrass Pier. An old mystery and a new murder combine with stalkers, drug smugglers, and memories from a murder victim to form the background for a second chance romance. Combining all the things fans of romantic suspense would want, this novel is the perfect traveling companion for your next vacation.Elin Summerall is the recipient of a heart transplant. But along with a new chance at life, Elin has memories that are not her own. Flashes of memory from murder victim/donor Laura intrude on Elin’s life. If that is not frightening enough, she now has a stalker that is intent on keeping her silent. Marc Everton, an FBI agent investigating the murder of his partner, is sure Laura’s murder is the key to solving his case. But he is skeptical of Elin’s memories, until more and more pieces of the puzzle fall into place. There is a definite attraction between the two, but past guilt and betrayal may keep them apart. The suspense takes off right from the start of Seagrass Pier. The reader is plunged into the midst of the story and the action never slows down. Coble’s use of cell memory as a plot device is very intriguing. She also introduces an old journal found at Elin’s Hope Beach home to further the mystery surrounding the house — I just wish this thread had been more developed. The characters are interesting and a few favorites from previous books make an appearance. The final wrap-up of the mysteries was a little quick and neat for me, but I really enjoyed the romance between the two main characters. The addition of Elin’s mother’s Alzheimer’s could be a good discussion starter for a book club. All in all, I enjoyed Seagrass Pier. It’s beachy setting and suspense-filled pages are perfect for a summer read.Recommended.(Thanks to NetGalley and LitFuse for my ebook review copy. All opinions expressed are mine alone.)

The story is about Elin, a woman who receives a donor heart from a murder victim and starts to feel things as well as have dreams about the murder. Now we know this isn't possible but Colleen has such a way of writing that I was pulled into the mysterious dreams and suspense. Ooh, did I mention turns and twists that kept me reading way after bedtime? The crazy thing is that the murderer eventually starts targeting Elin after she contacts the police and starts working with one officer who is just as hesitant to believe her as his comrades, he is in for the shock of his life! What a good book! I've enjoyed the Hope Beach series and am looking forward to more from this author! I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Present Day, VirginiaAfter Elin Summerall's recent heart transplant, unexplained things started happening. She is dreaming vividly about the murder of her organ donor. The authorities didn't seem to believe her but, then, Laura's murderer started targeting Elin. When the one man she hoped to never see again shows up on her doorstep, Elin knows she can no longer keep her secret. F.B.I. agent Marc Everton is the father of her four-year-old daughter, Josie. Marc is shocked and livid at the news but what is most important at the moment is protecting Elin and his daughter. While Marc risks his life to protect them both and Elin struggles to remember pertinent clues, a strong bond of love is forming between them despite their best efforts to remain neutral. Will they find the killer in time? Can they become the real family they both secretly want and their daughter needs? This is my first book in the Hope Beach series and I have to say that I wish I had discovered this series sooner. This book is top-notch in romantic suspense and very much in keeping with Collen Coble's writing style in her other romantic suspense series. Elin Summerall was experiencing "cell memory" after her heart transplant. I had never heard of before cell memory before and the entire idea was new to me but it did inspire me to do some research. It turns out that a recipient taking on some traits of their donors really can happen. I think it was genius as a major plot point. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Colleen took the aspects of this strange happening and turned it into a plot that's so engaging. With such a unique and well written plot I was literally hooked from the very first paragraph and it's very rare that I can say that. It kept me guessing throughout the entire book, never really disclosing the killer until the last part of the story, and that kept my mind constantly working on whodunit theories. I almost felt like a private investigator myself. I absolutely loved the fast-paced feel of the book. I really don't care for a story that seems to drag along because they can be boring at times but I had no such problem with this one.I also loved the characters in this one. Elin, who Marc previously referred to as the "ice princess" was now a completely different person in all outward appearances but the same where it mattered most. She was a fierce protector of her daughter and her mom and had an amazing strength. Marc I loved. He is the prime candidate for hero of the year. He was livid when he found out that Elin had purposely kept Josie from him but managed to put his feelings aside so he could keep them safe. He was strong and courageous, exactly what you would expect from an F. B. I. agent, but he also loved just a fiercely as he protected. Elin's mother Ruby added a bit of humor even though she suffered dementia, a horrible disease that stole her thinking ability. In her most lucid moments I could see the perfect mom. Sara, Marc's cousin, and Josh, the guy she loved with a passion. Both were a part of a Coast Guard recovery team. I liked seeing their relationship play out as well. The setting, Hope Island and Seagrass Pier especially, was perfect for this particular book and the beauty of the area really came through in Colleen's attention to detail. As I said, this is my first book in this series and you can read it as a stand alone novel, I sure did, but I would have preferred to read them in order because I felt like I should already know the characters. At the start of the book that feeling was more pronounced but it soon dissipated and I felt like I had known them forever and quickly grew to love them. The Christianity in this book is subtle and not in-your-face but at the same time it's obvious the characters are Christians. I like the fact that, with Elin's and Marc's past transgression, Colleen subtly reveals that only One is perfect and Grace is ever flowing with our forgiveness. In a nutshell, Colleen Coble is the Queen of Christian Romantic Suspense. She draws you in quickly and keeps you guessing. I have yet to figure out one of her plots until at least three quarters into the story. You can't go wrong with this book. If you like contemporary romantic suspense you'll love Seagrass Pier! Most highly recommended!Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for my honest opinion and no monetary compensation was received.
