April 1560 in Wittenberg) war ein deutscher Altphilologe, Philosoph, Humanist, lutherischer Theologe, Lehrbuchautor und neulateinischer Dichter. Er war als Reformator neben Martin Luther eine treibende Kraft der deutschen und europäischen kirchenpolitischen Reformation und wurde auch „Praeceptor Germaniae“, Lehrer Deutschlands genannt.
