About this audiobook

New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Hart treats readers to another visitation by ghostly gumshoe Bailey Ruth Raeburn as she lends a hand to an ethereal matchmaker who haunts a library...

Bailey Ruth's supervisor, Wiggins, is worried about a dear old friend-the ghost of elegant Lorraine Marlow, who haunts Adelaide, Oklahoma's college library. Known as the Lady of the Roses, she plays matchmaker, using the fragrant flowers to pair up students. But someone's making mischief after hours, leaving roses strewn about the library and stealing a valuable book. Concerned with Lorraine's reputation among the living, Wiggins dispatches Bailey Ruth to investigate.

Soon trouble begins to stack up. A campus security guard is shot by an intruder, and Bailey Ruth uncovers a catalog of evidence blaming a student for the crimes. But something isn't adding up, so with police preparing to make an arrest, the spirited detective must find the real culprit. Because when justice is overdue, it takes more than death to stop Bailey Ruth Raeburn...

I love this writer for many reasons. Just look at her picture on the jacket: doesn't she look like someone you'd have fun with? These Bailey Ruth mysteries are a shining example of that kind of fun. Not only is the usually disembodied protagonist a point of view a gal can grow attached to; she's also a character in every sense: "What a character!", "She has high moral character.", "As an agent of the plot, she offers unique challenges and equally unique opportunities to a writer.", etc. I read Bailey Ruth mysteries instead of taking Zoloft. Art beats science once again!

What an interesting concept. A ghostly mystery from a ghost's point of view. I love this book! Writing the book in the voice of Bailey Ruth, ghost, is brilliant. A cozy to love. Carolyn Hart has a wonderful way with words, heavenly in fact. The storyline made me feel she was talking directly to me. From the stuffy but with a soft spot Wiggins to the forever young couple Bailey Ruth and Bobby Mac and on to the refined Lorraine, lady of the past, these ghostly individuals come to "life" as characters. Wiggins is the supervisor for Heaven's Department of Good Intentions.Wiggins has sent lively and incorrigible Bailey Ruth to help Lorraine into the light. But Lorraine doesn't want to go into the light, she is happy with her non-life on earth. There are rules to follow and Bailey Ruth is not one to follow them to the letter, constantly causing Wiggins grief and trips on the ghostly train to correct her errors. Her intentions are always good, but she still has her irrepressible youth and spirit (no pun intended.)This book is funny, lively, unique and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a little fun in their reading. Definitely recommend to readers of cozy mysteries, this one is a bit of a departure to similar cozies and light mysteries. Easy reading, enchanting, and will pull the reader in right from the start. This is the fifth in the Bailey Ruth Ghost Novel series. Did I say I loved this book? You bet!

This is the first book I’ve read in the Bailey Ruth Ghost Mysteries and before I started GHOST WANTED, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to follow it. I was afraid I would be lost. I had no need to worry. On page two, author Carolyn Hart started filling me in on what I needed to know, and it was a fun ride from there. When I first heard of this book, I assumed it was another book where the protagonist was befriended by a ghost. I had no idea the protagonist was the ghost! This book was an excellent mystery, told from a view point I’ve never read before, which only served to make reading it more intriguing and irresistible. Ms. Hart’s writing is flawless and kept me captured in the story straight through to the thrilling conclusion. Rather you’re a fan of mysteries, suspense, or paranormal stories, Ghost Wanted is a title you want to add to your reading list. You can pre-order it now for the October 7th release date. And if you haven’t read them yet, pick up the other four books in this series, Ghost At Work, Merry, Merry Ghost, Ghost In Trouble, and Ghosts Gone Wild. You’re going to want to own every title!

Bailey Ruth Raeburn is an emissary from heaven who rescues people on earth. Her boss in the Department of Good Intentions is “Wiggins.” In Ghost Wanted, Wiggins sends Bailey Ruth back to her hometown of Adelaide, Oklahoma to help not a human being, but a “ghost” (a term Wiggins hates). Her name is Lorraine Marlow and she’s been dead for some time, but has decided to stay on earth rather than going to heaven. She was a nurse in World War I, and the object of Wiggins’ affection during those years. While on earth, Lorraine has been haunting the local college’s library, strewing roses and playing Cupid. But lately, there have been some nasty doings in the library – mischief some on campus attribute to the Lady of the Roses, the name Lorraine has been given by those who believe in her. Wiggins, whose given name we learn is Paul, is concerned about Lorraine’s reputation. But, in truth, he wants Bailey Ruth to convince Lorraine to come to her heavenly home so they can be together. While in Adelaide, Bailey Ruth has to solve multiple crimes AND finish her assignments for Wiggins. But she’s without the friendly police chief whom she has worked with previously. Sam Cobb is on his honeymoon, and his second in command is in the hospital, so the crimes are being investigated by a worthless cop who insists on railroading a coed Bailey Ruth has grown fond of.The Bailey Ruth novels are lighthearted fun. All normal crime-novel conventions are thrown out, and readers witness a little magic created by a singular heroine. It’s not that bad things don’t happen – they do. But readers can rest assured that good will win out all will be right with the world, and the otherworld.
