About this audiobook

It’ll take more than his sweet words and hot kisses to win her back.

Three years ago, Dalton McKay looked across the altar and locked eyes with the woman he knew he’d love for the rest of his life…only it wasn’t his bride standing next to him. So he fled from the ceremony, his family and Wyoming. Now a family crisis has brought Dalton back to his small hometown, giving him an opportunity to demonstrate to everyone—especially the woman he thought he lost—that he’s a changed man.

Aurora “Rory” Wetzler has fallen for cowboy hottie Dalton’s smooth-talkin’ ways far too often. This time he claims he’s playing for keeps. Fine. She’ll call that bluff. She can’t ignore their intense chemistry or resist his smokin’ hot body, but she knows better than to gamble her heart with him again.

Dalton has plenty of fences to mend with Rory, but his biggest fear is she doesn’t believe they have a future because of their tumultuous past. He’ll do whatever it takes to prove that he’s her one and only Romeo for a lifetime.

Dalton really surprised me. He was a great hero! This was such an emotional and moving story. Really well done. It's definitely different than the first books in this series. Not as scorching, imo, but still hot.

I think this series has definitely changed over the years, and the stories involving Casper's sons have been the angstiest. This book was heart-breaking in places and I cried a little at the bile that Casper spewed towards his children. I didn't realize the groundwork laid for this book until I started reading it; I cared so much about this story because Dalton has been in previous tales.

Was it everything I hoped for? Well, Dalton was more than I hoped for. He was hell-bent on getting Rory to acknowledge that he had changed and that they were perfect to each other. He gave her everything but I can't say she did the same. She wasn't everything that I wanted for Dalton and, although I knew that he had brought on his behavior with his past behaviors towards her, as I heard more of his past story, I couldn't help but be really hacked off by her attitude towards him. I wanted her to be as open with him as he was with her but, whilst he was still hiding the real reason that he left town, I knew she wasn't going to be.

This is the second to last book in the series and I can't believe its all coming to an end. This tale incorporated most of the McKay's and I was so happy to see Kyler as a teenager, carrying on the McKay love for the ladies :) Colby still pissed me off and Gavin cemented his place in my heart; this was a book you should not read without having read the rest in the series as, although the main tale is the standalone, you won't understand the family dynamics without having seen them develop over the course of the series.

This was a sexy, emotional tale of a emotionally broken man finding his happiness with the woman of his dreams. I loved it.

This story was hard to read. I have no patience with bullies or those that abuse a child and Casper McKay was both of those. There isn't much detail of the abuse just enough to know that Dalton has a reason for what he did most of his life. I am glad to see that he overcame most of the problems that drove him away from his family. Dalton is the youngest of the McKay boys and as such has felt disconnected from the family most of his life. However in this story Dalton has grown up and moved on with his life. He has lived alone for three years and come to peace with his childhood. He is a wonderful man and brother now. He is also willing to do just about anything to show the woman that he loves that he has become a better person. Rory Wetzler grew up with Dalton. She knows a lot of his secrets and has been in love with him for a long time. However, Dalton has hurt her on several occasions and she is hesitant to trust him completely with her heart. Rory is also looking for a better job than the one she currently has. She wants something that will utilize her education and that will probably take her away from Sundance. Rory is a caring and compassionate young woman but she can be a bitch as well. I guess must of us can be though. Ms James is a wonderful writer who has written stories that show us what living on a ranch and with a big close knit family can be like. I have to think that she is writing from experience. Even the most hardened city slicker is going to get a good idea of the hardship and hard work that is needed to keep a cattle ranch running day in and day out. There are on vacations or days off. There is always something that has to be done. Daily life is busy and usually longer that eight hours of work. There are times during the year that a cowboy is lucky to get 2 or 3 hours sleep a night. Ms. James also gives the read a good sense of what it is like to live in a remote area of the northern United States. This is a good series of books and for those that love cowboys a must read.
