About this audiobook

Lizzy and Diesel are back in an all-new wicked adventure from Janet Evanovich and Emmy Award-winning co-author Phoef Sutton.

Before he was murdered and mummified nearly a century ago, notorious bootlegger Collier "Peg Leg" Dazzle discovered and re-hid a famous pirate's treasure somewhere along the coast of New England. A vast collection of gold and silver coins and precious gems, the bounty also contains the Stone of Avarice-the very item reluctant treasure seeker Lizzy Tucker and her partner, Diesel, have been enlisted to find. While Lizzy would just like to live a quiet, semi-normal life, Diesel is all about the hunt. And this hunt is going to require a genuine treasure map and a ship worthy of sailing the seven seas . . . or at least getting them from Salem Harbor to Maine.

Greed is eternal and insatiable, and Lizzy and Diesel aren't the only ones searching for the lost pirate's chest. People who have dedicated their entire lives to finding it are willing to commit murder or make a deal with the devil just to hold the fortune in their hands. One of those people may even be Wulf, Diesel's deceptively charming and enigmatic cousin. Wulf desires the Stone of Avarice. He also desires Lizzy. It's hard to say how far he's willing to go to gain either one.

Wicked Charms is a swashbuckling adventure full of raiders, monkeys, minions, and mayhem. Lizzy and Diesel are going to have to do everything they can to keep their heads above water and hope they're living a charmed life.

ARC provided by the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love the Janet Evanovich books. They are all fun, yet each series is very different. In this series, Lizzy Tucker is a baker in Salem. She has a couple of gifts, one is to bake magic cupcakes, the other is to sense the seven Saligia Stones. Along comes Deisel, who's job it is to recover the stones and destroy them so no one has their power. This is the third book in the series.

In this story, Lizzy and Diesel are trying to recover the Avarice Stone (greed). Martin Ammon is also trying to recover the stone. He believes he is the Demon god Mammon. Of course Wulf, Diesel's cousin is also in the hunt. There is a treasure map that can only be read using a coin that has been cut up into 8 pieces. Once Lizzy and Diesel find all the pieces, they are able to begin the search for the Stone. AS well as the stone, there is a treasure worth millions of dollars at stake. While all this is going on, Lizzy and Diesel are developing a relationship that could result in one of them losing their powers. There is a lot of sexual innuendo and some murders along the way, but it is a fun read.

As in any Janet Evanovich book, you have a cast of incredible supporting characters. Here we have Glo, a witch in training with Broom and a Magic 8-ball, Josh, a Buccaneer American, Martin Ammon, psycho eccentric billionaire with big delusions of owning the world and lots of others.

Wicked Charms continues the adventures of Lizzy & Diesel. Full of fun and comical moments, Wicked Charms is an easy read that is hard to put down with a great story of pirates, demons, and magic. Though the ending is a little interesting with a character’s personality changing from what is read as a strong character throughout the book to someone whom is unsure of himself.

This was the 3rd book in the Lizzy & Diesel series and the first one I had read. I received this as an ARC from the publisher. I thought this book was ok. Some of dialogue was witty, some of it was a little cheesy and predictable. I like Lizzy & Diesel's characters and LOVE the secondary characters - they really tie it all together.

I will probably go back to read books 1 & 2 now to really catch up.

Upon discovering that the caged pirate mannequin in the local Pirate Museum, is really the mummy of "Peg-Leg", a local gangster & prohibition era rum-runner; Lizzie Tucker, cupcake maker extraordinaire and "sensitive", once again teams up w/ Diesel. This time to find the Avarice stone, 4th of the 7 stones dedicated to the 7 Deadly Sins.

The stone is said to activate the demon mammon (who multi-millionaire & sociopath, Martin Ammon, believes he is to become).... The chase for the 8-part coin, that will decipher the map, that will locate the Blue Diamond that will find the stone is on!

Lizzie, Diesel, his cousin Wulf, Wulf's minion Hatchet, Lizzie's friends Glo & Clara are all in on the chase..... Add in Glo's friend Josh the pirate, a whacked out historian, Martin's minions, Carl the Monkey, Cat, a psychic coroner who knows the last thoughts of the deceased & Clara's grandfather who inherited several pieces of the coin, and you have mayhem & laughter.

The story was interesting, light, and amusing.... It held my interest, but wasn't as enthralling or as funny as the first in the series.....

Honestly, if this was the first book I'd read, I'd never read another Evanovich book in my life. The characters are so not themselves it seems like a spoof or badly written fanfiction. The plot is almost non-existant and honestly, the whole book could have wrapped up on page 190 and made no difference. I can only hope that if the next one comes out, it isn't written by this same co-author because it seemed like there was ZERO of Evanovich's voice in this book and it was just terrible. The only reason it earned 2 stars was that Carl and Cat 7143 are still present

Vacuous. Pure, vacuous fluff. Yet, even as I questioned why I was continuing on, I never really entertained DNF'ing it. Sort of like a paranormal I Love Lucy, or Beverly Hillbillies. The series arc revolves around 7 stones "of power", each representing one of the seven deadly sins. Each book's plot centers around Lizzy and Diesel recovering one of the stones and locking it away from humanity. Wicked Charms is about the stone of avarice, lost long ago in a sunken pirate ship along with, of course, the pre-requisite pirate treasure. What follows is an adult version of The Goonies, only totally NOT as good as The Goonies (nothing is as good as The Goonies). I gave it three stars because it kept me entertained, but I was more than happy to come to the end and be done. Light and fluffy, with no aftertaste.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I LOVE Janet's number series with Stephanie Plum, but find this series just meh. They are light reads that are somewhat amusing but not as good as her other series. They are an ok, light read.

Format: MP3 fileLength: 6 hrs, 12 mins (unabridged)Narrator: Lorelei KingStars: 2/5 This is the continuation of cupcake baker Lizzy and Diesel's adventures regarding the hunting down of the Stones of SALIGIA. In the third book of the series, Lizzy and Diesel must combat a greedy businessman who thinks he's destined to become one of Hell's seven princes and rule the world. After reading the books in this series, I'm starting to get tired of the characters. Sure, the plot and storyline can be diverting at times. But Diesel lacks real substance and Lizzy seems shallow and horny as a teenager. She's weak and almost never stands up for herself (and you would think by now she would have pepper spray with her or something to defend herself)... Anyways, Carl the monkey only flips people off and Glo seems to have the memory of a goldfish, never remembering her past mistakes when it comes to casting spells and causing trouble. The other thing about the book that bothered me was the pacing of events. In the past two books, the pacing was okay and we could get a sense of urgency in dangerous situations. But the pacing in this book is extremely terrible. I had to go back several times to understand what happened because the progression wasn't natural and I felt parts of sequences were missed. Based on what I've listened to this time around, I think I'll skip the rest of this series.

Husband picked this one up at a FOL sale, so it was for a good cause. I like the Stephanie Plum books, but this series, not so much. Still a quick read while waiting for a library reserve to come in so, okay.

Wicked Charms is an easy book to read. It does not take itself seriously and is just fun. There are of course, good guys and bad guys. The good guys have adventures in their dealings with the bad guys. The book has earned four stars in this review. It is recommended if the reader wants a fast read that is fun.

What can I say I'm a sucker for Evanovich books. This one has Lizzy and Diesel after the stone of avarice. There is a maniacal millionaire out after the same treasure. He believes he is the incarnation of the demon of greed and with the stone he can bring the demon to living on Earth. Full of quirky characters as we've come to expect in her books, fun and easy to read.

I really wanted to like this book more than I actually did. It's obvious that a lot of time passed between the writing of books 2 and 3. I really hope they get this series back on track- it has a lot of potential.

Synopsis: Diesel and Lizzy are after another stone. Of course, so are Wulf and his minion. What complicates this quest is yet another group coming after the Stone of Avarice believing that it will release Mammon who will rule the world. Review: This is a great romp. The plot is interesting, as are the characters and the situations. I can't wait to read about the next adventure of Diesel and Lizzy.

I should probably confess right now that I have not read all of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. In fact, while I'm admitting things, I've probably only read the first two. And don't get me wrong, it's not because I didn't enjoy them. I did. As far as excuses go, I have none. Phew. Confession over. Moving on.

When it comes to her other series, however, I am on top of things. Fox and O'Hare? Check. Lizzy and Diesel? As of just today, check.

Wicked Charms is the latest installment of Evanovich's Lizzy and Diesel series, which combines mystery, comedy, and paranormal with a dose of baking. (This one was co-authored with Phoef Sutton.)

If you read my previous post, I made no secret of the fact that I like funny. I like witty repartee. I like slapstick (in books). Janet Evanovich knows how to do this and do it well.

In the first book of the series, Lizzy, a pastry chef who lives in Salem, Mass. (of all places), discovered that she has a power to detect magical objects, which leads to her introduction to Diesel and endless situations in which the world's fate hangs in the balance. Oh, and her power also extends to her baking so that her cupcakes are out-of-this-world. Now that's a superpower!

In Wicked Charms, Lizzy and Diesel must track down coins that fit together so that they can find a treasure and the greed stone. There's madness. There's mayhem. There's mystery. There's mirth. And who can beat a good dose of mirth?

Put mirth together with a monkey who likes to give people the finger, a magical broom called, oddly enough, "Broom," a would-be witch named Glo whose spells never quite work out and Diesel's cousin, Wulf, who looks like a vampire minus the fangs and is also out to get the stones that Lizzy and Diesel are after, and what you have is a book version of a "romp." (Oh, and for clarity's sake, the romp I mean is the traditional one, not the one you find in Urban Dictionary; thanks.)

While Wicked Charms is probably not going to be number one on a best literature site, it is great at what it does: it provides the reader with several hours of amused escapism and some definite lol-ing. There's never anything wrong with that.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Finally! I waited and waited and waited for this next installment of Lizzy and Diesel to come out, and I was absolutely not disappointed! This series just keeps getting better and better. This story had everything I was waiting for, laugh out loud witty and hilarious dialog, a mystery to solve, romance heating up between Lizzy and Diesel, paranormal ridiculousness, a slew of crazy characters (including Carl the monkey),and my favorite part Wulf. He reminds me of a less evil Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Can't wait for the next in the series. Hopefully not as long of a wait as this one.

The book was entertaining but I can't say that it was worth reading. Not enough humor, although it seemed that was what the authors were going for. No mystery. Maybe because this was the third book in the series but even the characters seemed flat to me. I'm a big Evanovitch fan, especially the Stephanie Plum series and I've liked many of the books she has co-written, but this one left me so cold I'm probably not going to read any of the other books in the series. I have the first book in the seires from the library and I may give that a quick try to see if it any better.

Wicked Charms is incredible. It's a fast pace treasure hunt, with romance, magic, and betrayal. I couldn't put it down, every page pulled me deeper into the world of Lizzy & Diesel. Lizzy is a headstrong woman who has to save the world with her magical abilities and a pastry bag. Diesel is her partner who is wicked charming and has no problem with saving the world every other day.Wicked charms is about:A bootlegger Collier “Peg Leg” Dazzle who more then ninety years ago hid a treasure that not only was vast but it included a Stone of Avarice. Lizzy and Diesel need to find the stone before a crazed millionaire, a demon cult, an insane historian, and Diesel's cousin Wulf beat them to the stone. They also have to make sure to not let the demon mammon of greed awaken and take over the world with the power of the stone of avarice. Will Lizzy & Diesel be able to save the world....Well you'll have to read to find out. Hope you enjoyed this as much as I have!

I was thrilled when the publisher gave me the opportunity to review an ARC of this long-awaited follow-up to Wicked Appetite and Wicked Business. Avid Evanovich fans should appreciate the Lizzy and Diesel novels, since they use the same basic formula used in the Stephanie Plum series. Ordinary young woman (albeit this one has special “powers”), prone to mishaps and minor disasters, hangs out with mysterious hunk and the two embark on a series of slapstick comical adventures.Like the two previous books, Wicked Charms takes place in Massachusetts – much of it in Salem, which lends itself nicely to the magical aspect of the book. It also gives the authors some opportunity to add some seafaring-type escapades. While touring a local pirate’s museum, Lizzy Tucker knocks over a “prop” skeleton and uncovers the actual mummified remains of legendary pirate, Peg Leg Dazzle. From there they learn of Peg Leg’s famous hidden treasure. Lizzy and Diesel are off to follow the clues and discover the coins, gold, silver, gems and famous Stone of Avarice. With the help of Lizzy’s friends, Glo, Clara and Josh, they battle against the villainous Martin Ammon, who may or may not be a demon.Wicked Charms is like most other Janet Evanovich novels. It follows a formula that works. Either you’re a fan or you’re not and I’m definitely a fan. Ms. Evanovich’s books aren’t meant to be literal true to life accounts – they’re written to be tongue-in-cheek, entertaining, engaging fun. And Wicked Charms delivers just that. I would recommend Wicked Charms if you’re looking for an easy, breezy and funny read. Hopefully, Janet Evanovich will continue to provide us with many more books with less time in between publication in the future.

Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich and Phoef Sutton is the third book is the Lizzy and Diesel series. I adored this book! Lizzy Tucker lives in Marblehead Harbor, Massachusetts and works as a baker for Dazzle’s Bakery. That is when she is not out saving the world with Diesel (just Diesel)! It turns out that Lizzy has two unique abilities. Lizzy has the ability to find the Saligia Stones. There are seven of the stones and they have only found two of them. Lizzy is touring the Pirate Museum with Glo (that’s her name) and Glo’s boyfriend, Josh (who talks like a pirate all the time). She touches a cage containing a peg leg pirate and it comes crashing to the ground. Turns out a real skeleton (with a peg leg) was in the cage. Lizzy gets to meet coroner, Theodore Nergal. Nergal is a very nice guy with a special ability of his own (he had never told anyone about his ability before and was glad to find other people with abilities). Turns out there an unusual coin in the peg leg. They will need to find all eight pieces (get it: pieces of eight). They need the full coin to read the map. They can then find the location of the latest stone (Blue Diamond of Babur). Lizzy and Diesel have to battle and outwit Wulf (Gerwulf Grimoire is his full name and is actually Diesel’s cousin) as well as Martin Ammon (a rich and powerful man). Along the way there will be a few hiccups (like Glo using her spell book incorrectly) and almost death incidents (Glo and Lizzy almost drown). Hopefully, good will persevere over evil in the end!I give Wicked Charms 5 out of 5 stars. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. Doozy, my dog, did not know what to make of my laughing at first. Then he got all excited and starting doing his little jack rabbit jumps all over my bed! There are some great lines and memorable characters (Steven Hatchet is a riot and I loved Glo with her broom) in this book. I have not read any other books in this series, but I will definitely read them now. This is one of best books I have read in quite a while. I was hooked from the beginning and did not want this book to end.I received a complimentary copy of Wicked Charms from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The reviews and opinions expressed are my own.

The third book in the Lizzy & Diesel series is a fun romp in the search of the Stone of Avarice; one of seven stones of power that our duo is trying to recover to prevent them from being used. In this case it’s to prevent Mammon, a demon of greed, from possessing an already greedy person and he’s not the only one actively looking for the stone that requires locating 8 pieces of a coin and a pirate’s treasure map. What makes this so much fun are the quirky characters—I don’t believe there is any character we spend any time with that’s not--and the situations they find themselves in. Suspend all belief, add in some sexual tension, a little history on pirates, dead bodies, drama and treasure, and you’ve got a great way to spend a few hours. Read as an ARC via Netgalley
