Allen Carr
Allen Carr (1934-2006) was a chain-smoker for over 30 years. In 1983, after countless failed attempts to quit, he went from 100 cigarettes a day to zero without suffering withdrawal pangs, without using willpower and without gaining weight. He realised that he had discovered what the world had been waiting for - the Easy Way to Stop Smoking - and embarked on a mission to help cure the world's smokers. Easyway has grown to become a global phenomenon with seminar centres in 150+ cities in more than 50 countries around the world. Allen Carr's Easyway books, online video programmes, and live group seminars have helped an estimated 50 million smokers worldwide. A vast majority of those happy non-smokers became aware of the method as a result of personal recommendation from their friends, family, and colleagues. Allen Carr is now recognised as the world's leading expert on helping smokers to quit and has sold over 16 million books on the topic. His Easyway method has been successfully applied to a host of issues including weight control, alcohol and other addictions and fears. In 2006, Allen was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away that November handing responsibility for Easyway over to his closest and most trusted colleagues.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I started because I was curious about cutting back but it’s a very compelling book and I’m done with drinking. It didn’t feel like he laid out an argument for quitting alcohol but shared a personal experience, which made it different from other books I started to read about alcohol. If you’re sober curious, start here.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Would happily recommend this book! Some real eye opening moments and a genuinely enjoyable experience.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The metaphors and examples used throughout this book had the confusing subject of alcoholism make perfect sense. I also loved the narrator. I’m so ready to start my journey of living alcohol free. I’m only 31 hours in, but I know that my life is going to immensely get better.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Some say his methods are more of placebo drugs, but remember, placebo drugs do have high success rates. I like how he relates to the common alcoholic, talks about the science of the human body and how it reacts to alcohol. All are true tried and tested methods. And yes, your body has no use for alcohol in any helpful way, it's fully capable of all you want in and of itself.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really good reasons to quit and do not touch a monster anymore. Helpful.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing book really enjoyed it will happily read over and over again
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5By far the best drinking solution on the market today!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dang! What an interesting way of looking at the whole drinking alcohol thing! I relistened to chapter 19 a few times. Will probably listen to the whole book again shortly. Allen is very direct and can come off as pushy but he explains the reasons behind it and it starts to make sense.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5His approach does not offer any control and is an elongated clickbait, if I may be frank. While the method may work, comparing alcohol consumption to HIV and Heroin is nonsensical. It does depend on the degree of alcoholism at play, but controllable consumption of alcohol is possible and this book attempts to remove that idea from your head. People that can drink in moderation are not in early stages of alcoholism. This book lacks facts and figures, but if you like hearing that alcohol is poison reiterated every 3 sentences, this is the book for you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Entertaining and insightful listen. Finally helped me quit for good!
