About this audiobook

When authorities in Alaska receive a disturbing call from a teenage girl, their investigation leads them to discover an entire family of researchers dead. Joe Rush is called to help examine the bodies. On the surface, it looks like a brutal murder/suicide. But the situation is nowhere near that simple-nor is it over.

Upon closer investigation, Rush discovers the terrifying truth. The research team has fallen victim to something that seems impossible at first, yet the evidence looks undeniable in the lab. Now the danger may threaten thousands more.

Unfortunately, he's not the only one with knowledge of the looming disaster. The army has cordoned off part of Alaska, and Rush soon finds himself the target of trained killers. Someone suspects Rush of betraying his country. To save countless lives--starting with his own--Rush must uncover the answers hidden in the Arctic. The question is--will he find them in time?

Lots of plot. Not so much character development. A good read though.

This could have been a good book and concept was great There were a few problems. There were quite a few characters to track and when the killer became evident, the question: "who was that, again?" I especially liked the Eskimo characters and the rogue Army General. They added some reality and some spice.I could imagine each responding in the ways that they did in the book--I wanted them to cooperate in the worst way. Near the end, our hero is nearly a popsicle and is saved at the last minute. After such a nearly believable story, why that? Okay, I'll try the next one, book #3 in this series.

Protocol Zero by James Abel in the second in his Joe Rush series. Fast-paced and full of suspense and intrigue, Abel takes readers into the realm of bioterrorism in his second installment. When Rush is called to the scene of what appears to be a simple murder suicide, he uncovers something more terrifying than imaginable. Faced with a threat that could imperil the lives of many, Rush soon finds he is being pursued by expert killers who will stop at nothing to carry out their job. Protocol Zero hits the mark as an action-packed bio-terror suspense thriller that will leave readers looking forward to Abel’s next book. I would not hesitate to recommend Protocol Zero to readers who enjoy thrillers and I personally cannot wait for the next book in the series.
