About this audiobook
Eve Duncan became a forensic sculptor after the disappearance of her daughter Bonnie, whose remains were discovered ... yet unrecognizable. Driven by a need to liberate innocence from the shroud of death, she obsesses over recreating the likenesses of faceless, decomposed murder victims, using only their bare skulls as a guide. Fleeing to Baton Rouge to take on the project of identifying a skeleton, Eve is forced to work in secrecy, given only the sketchiest of information, and she can't help but wonder if the high-level security that surrounds her is meant to protect her ... or imprison her.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fast-paced and exciting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5When Eve declines to go to New Orleans to reconstruct a skull, her world is turned upside down. It is revealed to her that the body in the grave that she believed to be Bonnie is not Bonnie, and that Joe had paid to have the DNA paperwork altered so that she thought it was Bonnie. Feeling as if Bonnie was ripped away from her again, she jumps on the opportunity to get away from Joe and reconstruct the skull. Joe contacts Logan, who sends Galen to keep Eve safe.
There is nothing ordinary about the situation, when on the first night in New Orleans, Eve is poisoned, and hospitalized. Someone does not want the skull to be reconstructed...
Time is of the essences, people are being murdered because of this skull. Can Eve figure out who this skull is and live to tell? Is it over for Eve and Joe? - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Eve is living with her lover Atlanta Detective Joe Quinn, and her daughter Bonnie after years of searching is buried on their property. When Senator Melton of Louisiana calls asking Eve for help in identifying a skull, she refuses. In "Body of Lies", Eve is becoming a bit too "precious" and is in imminent danger of becoming unlikable. Eve calls all the shots and makes it clear that her job is more important than anyone else's. This is reinforced by the fact that everyone around her seems to tread delicately on eggshells and think nothing of leaving home/job to support her. Plausible? What I enjoyed about prior books was the give and take between the main characters, which appears to be absent in "Body of Lies". However, Galen is a good inclusion that nicely offsets the neurotic Eve. Jane also has good potential for her own lead, but Joe, unfortunately, is too tragically besotted to be anything but a crutch. All in all, if you like the Eve Duncan series, read this; if you don't, or if this is your first Johansen, it will probably not make much of an impression on you. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5An interesting story about forensic sculptor Eve Duncan and her involvement in a power play with a shadowy cabal named, appropriately, Cabal. I liked the personalities, but found the pace a bit slow at times.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Trash. Violates all the criteria of good writing. I would never consider reading another of her books. It really doesn't deserve 1/2!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I hate to give bad reviews, but this book was so predictable. The characters were flat and stiff as was the dialogue. I just didn't care about them or what they had to say. I had to suspend disbelief to get through the story. I just couldn't get into the reason the lead character was in so much danger. Johansen had a very twisted plot that put her in harms way, but I just didn't embrace it. I had the bad guy figured out almost immediately, so no surprise for me. I have 4 other Johansen books, but I think I'm going to cut her loose. Everyone can have a weak link, but I just have so many good books to read and I'm old. I don't have time to mess with mediocre writing. I give her 2 and a half stars because I did appreciate the feelings and exchanges the main character had with her missing and presumed dead daughter. That was the most honest writing in the whole book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As a forensic sculptor, Eve Duncan deals in death every day of her life. A call from a senator brings her to Baton Rouge to identify the remains of an unknown murder victim. She is forced to work in secrecy and given only the sketchiest of information. Eve can't help but wonnder if the high-level security that surrounds her is meant to protect her or imprison her. She hasn't even begun work on the reconstruction when the first death occurs. (Not that good)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5.... I read this awhile ago so I must skip the details... "Body of Lies" was my first read of the Eve Duncan series and i loved it. I was hooked from the first chapter. It was full of suspense and action. Great story line and written well. It has likeable and interesting characters (who jump around from book to book throughout the series). A real page turner that i'm sure wont disappoint the Iris fans.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Another in Iris Johansens’ Eve Duncan Series. Lots of adventure in this book, enjoyed the work done on each of the characters although the story was ludicrous, a huge secret society that controls the world and is killing a lot of people just to blow up a dam. The dialogue is very well written, but I didn’t care for the Eve Duncan character.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A forensic Sculptor, Eve Duncan, is summoned to Baton Rouge to identify a scull and ends up the key person in series of murders. The murders are all related to a special power commission that is controlling the world. A newspaper reporter befriends her and her family claiming to only interested in the story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Eve Duncan does forensic re-construction, this job is different, a lot of money, only a skull and people around her keep dying. Logan has interests in it as well, along with the finances to help her, or has he other reasons to help.
