About this audiobook

Nothing says "home" like being attacked by humans with very large guns, as Jane and Anyan discover when they arrive in Rockabill. These are professionals, brought in to kill, and they bring Anyan down before either Jane or the barghest can react. Seeing Anyan fall awakens a terrible power within Jane, and she nearly destroys herself taking out their attackers.

Jane wakes, weeks later, to discover that she's not the only thing that's been stirring. Something underneath Rockabill is coming to life: something ancient, something powerful, and something that just might destroy the world.

Jane and her friends must act, striking out on a quest that only Jane can finish. For whatever lurks beneath the Old Sow must be stopped . . . and Jane's just the halfling for the job.

I am sooo intrigued by this series! With every new installment, Nicole Peeler manages to reel me in deeper to Jane's world of manic Alfar antics and mind blowing magic! I can't imagine what Jane will get herself into next, but the countdown is on! Summer 2012 cannot come fast enough for me, but here's hoping that the publishers bump up the date!

Odd. So Goodreads totally deleted this book from my shelf.... so I'm just re-adding it and my review.

Alright, it’s official. I love Nicole Peeler. There, I’ve said it. I’m SO glad that I finally got off my ass and read her Jane True series because it is truly a wonderful, hilarious, hell of a good time series.

    The Storyline

In the fourth installment of the Jane True series, after an altercation with a group of humans who attacked Jane and Anyan, Jane uses a power against them that no one knew she possessed. She used so much magic that she practically fell into a coma for the better part of a month. When she wakes, things aren’t much better; actually, they’re quite worse. Jane’s friends inform her that Phaedra’s evil group has been searching out the locations of four ‘locks’ that are around Rockabill that when unlocked will unleash and ancient power. It’s up to Jane to locate the locks and get to this ancient power first so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

    My Thoughts

I won’t continue to gush about my love for this series, I’m sure everyone is fully aware by now, since this will now be my fourth review of this series and I’m probably starting to sound like a broken record. As far as new thoughts and feelings, I must say I am so glad that Jane and Anyan are still ‘together’. I absolutely adore those two.

I loved seeing Iris go through her healing process after what she suffered in the 3rd book. It made it all the more real that the author didn’t simply glaze over that whole ordeal and transform Iris right back to her normal funky self.

It never ceases to crack me up how Jane’s libido has a life of its own and it’s almost a completely separate entity form Jane.

’Now I can do the slurping! My libido crowed, causing me to blush. I hated when I blushed at my own sex drive.

    The Ending

I had this horrible feeling that I was going to be left with some massive cliffhanger about midway through the book. Fortunately, that feeling was short-lived as Nicole managed to wrap it up quite nicely. All I have to say though… poor Jane and Anyan. Lol Can’t they get cut some slack here??? I can’t wait for the fifth installment; this series just keeps getting more and more exciting!

If you have yet to read this series, well… what are you waiting for?!

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: A tense race to find out what is stirring beneath Rockabill before the bad guys do. This book is progressively more serious than the rest of the series, but still delivers all the jokes and jabs we expect from Jane and her friends. Opening Sentence: I awoke slowly, languorously, my still-mostly-sleeping brain registering surprise when my nose smooshed into soft leather rather than sheets. The Review: The Jane True series has been a delight to read; the new installment, Eye of the Tempest, is no exception. Jane has been roped into a dangerous and time sensitive mission with the whole world riding on the outcome. Though it sounds a little intense for Jane, believe me when I say that she is up to the challenge with her usual flare. Jane is not the girl you would choose to save the world. She has only been aware of the supernatural community, her mother’s people, for barely a year. Her control of her magic is still rudimentary and she still relies heavily on those around her for support. So why is it that she is the one in charge of finding the four locks that hold an ancient weapon away for hundreds of years? Maybe because the locations seem to hold significant memories for Jane. Maybe it’s because Anyan and Nell are incapacitated and she is the next best thing. Maybe it’s all based on the word of Blondie, the Original who seems to always be there when Jane needs her the most. Or maybe it is just a pre-ordained destiny that is calling to Jane to fulfill. We know that Jane will do almost anything for those she loves, but can she be counted on to save ALL of man and supernatural kind, both good and bad? Jane’s love life with Anyan is hard to decipher. Though it seems that they are now trying to be a couple, Jane still has doubts. They even try to have several intimate moments; all of which are interrupted in one way or another. The idea of the two of them together is terrific. I find him so much more Jane’s type than Ryu was. Can Jane get over her reservations about being with Anyan? Can Anyan talk her into it? Will they ever have a chance to knock some boots or will the sexual tension be dragged out through the next book as well? Blondie’s character is still an enigma for Jane at the beginning of the book. While Jane was in a coma for a month, Blondie made nice with Jane’s friends and earned their trust. Of course, she has yet to earn the trust of Jane, and for good reason. Blondie keeps secrets; a lot of secrets. These secrets, both about her past and her motivations, she slowly reveals to Jane throughout their search. Jane really gets annoyed that she waits to fully reveal everything until the very end. When we do find out the full story, Blondie’s reasons become understandable and acceptable. It gives her character a depth that would be lost if we didn’t discover it bit by bit. On the plus side, Blondie is a tremendous flirt and is constantly propositioning Jane; which is always fun to read. The weapon they search for is wanted by the bad guys as well. It becomes a race to see if Team Jane or Team Jarl’s Lackeys will get to it first. This book delves into the idea that Jarl and his views are shared by many all over the world, and that Jane’s unnatural fixation on him may be shortsighted on her part. There are hints at a larger war brewing within their community that will have devastating effects on everyone, human and supernatural alike. When even long forgotten ancient entities, like Blondie, feel they are forced to choose sides; you know that this war is far more important than any petty feelings Jane harbors for one bad guy. Can Jane take up the reigns and be a leader for the forces of good? Or will she falter under the pressure and end up costing her side the war? What could possibly motivate someone like Jane to break out of her tiny mold and become the woman she is destined to be: the lives of her friends and family? Food? Sex? It seems in the past that Jane’s stomach and libido make many of the decisions on her behalf: Which is part of the reason she is such a lovable character. With far more serious issues discussed within the book, Eye of the Tempest still manages to deliver on the funny. It is a perfect blend of hard-hitting action and side-splitting humor that make the series as a whole a great read for anyone. Notable Scene: “What does every war need?” Anyan asked, clearly rhetorically. I’d noticed that the barghest, while normally short-winded, did enjoy the occasional rousing speech. Unfortunately, he wasn’t talking to a cabal of military strategists, and we like to mess with him. So before he could finish his own question, we’d jumped in to “help.” “A punchy code name?” I hazarded. “Fabulous uniforms!” Iris blurted out. “Bulletproof jockstraps,” stated Caleb, getting into the spirit of things. Iris had obviously brought out the playful side of the normally serious satyr. No wonder he liked her so. In the meantime, at his words, the entire group of us sitting in the circle-including the kelpie, with her eye-level pony view-all turned as one to look at the satyr’s package. Undaunted, he reaffirmed his opinion. “Definitely bulletproof jockstraps.” “Yeah, um, no,” Anyan said. “What every war needs is an advantage.” “And an army,” I added, helpfully. “And food. Don’t armies march on their stomachs?” said Amy Nahual. “Which means people to cook the food-“ I agreed. “Shut up!” Barked Anyan.FTC Advisory: Orbit Books graciously provided me with a copy of Eye of the Tempest. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review. The only payments I receive are hugs and kisses from my little boys.

The Jane True series continues to be strong in this fourth volume, though this one does have a slower start than the predecessors. Jane's wit and libido are as active as always, and it makes for a fun read.

Eye of the Tempest was another fast paced instalment in this fantastic series.Jane accidentally short circuits herself when she pulls the water from several human beings to protect Anyan during an attack. It kills the men, and it nearly kills her as well. When she wakes up, a month has passed and strange occurrences are becoming more frequent in Rockabill.Jane once again had me in fits of laughter; her trademark libido vs. virtue monologue is absolutely hilarious. Jane is growing as a character; those changes are quite obvious but also well earned. Her training is increasing and because of it she is becoming more powerful learning new tricks to impress us with in each new adventure.Anyan was a little bit of a disappointment for me this time; I feel his real character is starting to show through. He has gone from this adorable, burly man who any woman would count their lucky stars to be with to more distant and a bit of a jerk. Anyan always seems to be around when Jane is naked or he even turns up to get her naked, but he doesn’t seem to treat her properly. When Ryu and Jane were sleeping together it was obvious that Ryu was using her for blood, but with Anyan it’s a little more subtle. The connection between them doesn’t seem to be there. As Jane pointed out herself Anyan always seemed to cop a feel, but they had never even kissed properly. For me, this was a little bit of a letdown with Anyan, it might just be my natural distrusting ways, but if I were Jane I’d put my foot down and not give over anything until I knew where I stood. The actual story was once again very well written. It didn’t have the adventure in that Jane actually stayed in Rockabill for nearly the entire novel, but it did have a deeper story. One in which Jane got to meet a being that was literally millions of years old. Jane also had to man up because Nell and Anyan, her two most powerful allies, were rendered completely helpless and it was up to Jane and Blondie, who Jane didn’t trust, to help them.Peeler’s writing was once again superb; I do feel though that she is playing up a little too much on her Jane monologues. After such high praises of the ingeniousness of it in previous books, Libido and Virtue were appearing what felt like all the time. Every new situation Jane was put into it felt like those two felt the need to be heard, it was actually kind of annoying after a while because it was obvious what was happening, just because a device has worked in the past doesn’t mean you have to become a one trick pony.Eye of the Tempest was once again a fabulous read, it kept me engrossed from start to finish and I once again cannot wait for the next instalment.Find this review at storywings.com

This is the fourth book in the Jane True series by Peeler. This book was less romance and more urban fantasy than the previous books. I really enjoyed it and am intrigued by some of the turns the story takes.Jane is trying to catch her breath from all of the events that happened in the last book. Then strange things start happening in the town of Rockabill. Random people (normal and supernaturals alike) start spouting strange warnings without realizing it and some of the baddies we've all grown to hate show up searching for...something. Jane, Anyan, and crew have to figure out what everyone is searching for and how to get to it before the baddies do. They have some additional help in the mysterious character Blondie, who is one of the Originals.I really enjoyed this book. You get a bit of Jane and Anyan time in the first third of the book, I love Anyan and enjoyed the steamy scenes between him and Jane. I also enjoyed Jane's quirks, her funniness, and the constant arguments between her libido and her virtue. Additionally I enjoyed watching Jane grow into her substantial power. After all of the training in the last book, she has learned how to wield her magic much more efficiently and she is continuing to train and learn her limits. The story takes on a bit of a quest feel as Jane and crew struggle to find the locks that unlock the huge thing beneath Rockabill. There is searching and stumbling through dark caves, and I am going to be honest the adventure fantasy fan in me loved some of these scenes. Then there is Jane taking on a whole new aspect, that of a champion and a fighter. Yes being a fighter is totally against Jane's nature, but that's what makes it so interesting. I am sure in the next book Jane will make all the training to learn to fight absolutely hilarious and we will get to see Jane take on yet more responsibilities and grow into a force to be reckoned with.Blondie wasn't my favorite character, she was okay and did add a sense of mystery to the story. Based on the end of this book it looks like she will be playing a major role in future books. I am kind of hoping the thing going on between her and Jane stays just a passing thing and doesn't get any more...well deep. I really am pulling for Jane and Anyan to work things out and don't want Blondie getting in the way.The book ends well and does an excellent job of completing the main story in this book. It does start up the story arc for the next novel too, and I am dying to know what happens next. With Jane positioned to take on a world of evil I am eager to see what happens!Overall an excellent addition to this series. It was more urban fantasy than paranormal romance (although there are some excellent steamy scenes between Anyan and Jane). This book really ups the stakes for Jane and her friends. They are forced to solve a mystery of epic proportions and are drawn into events bigger than ever. I loved watching Jane master her power and loved watching her be forced to take on new roles that test her as a character. I am curious to see how all of this changes her. Like all of the previous books this one was well written, fun to read, and hilarious at times. Now I can't wait to get my hands on the next book, Tempest's Fury, too bad it doesn't come out until summer of 2012!
