About this audiobook

Two-time Christy Award finalist Stephanie Grace Whitson's Pine Ridge Portraits series, based in Fort Robinson Nebraska, is immensely popular. Now it's World War II, and a group of Nazi POWs has been brought to Fort Robinson. The townsfolk, already heartworn from the loss of many men, are divided in their feelings about the prisoners. Whitson's portraits will bring back some familiar faces and introduce new ones as the community struggles to come together in the faith of a God who loves unconditionally.

The third and final book in this series. Though you could read each story as a stand alone, I encourage you to read them in the order written to fully understand the family history. In this book the Second World War is taking place, and even though the sandhills of Nebraska seem far removed from the war, it will have a big impact on the folks around Fort Robinson. One young man is sent to fight, while the enemy is sent as prisoners to Fort Robinson to labor for the ranchers in the area. This causes real conflict between people and also real heartache as Josephine has feelings for one of the prisoners.I liked how the author handled this delicate situation of how to treat the enemy and brought out the human side of some of the prisoners. It would have been a very difficult time in history, but felt it was handled very well. Glad I took the time to read this series of books.
