Loved the ending to the series! I'm so glad the author wrote an ending for each character

This isn't really a book. It's just a list of things that happened to the characters after the last book. It was very imaginative and I appreciated it.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy**SPOILER FREE**There is a specific cadence to the Sookie Stackhouse series, one that is simple and straightforward, and oddly sweet, just like Sookie herself. After thirteen books, I was anxiously awaiting the happily ever after that she so richly deserved. DEAD EVER AFTER may be the book that finally puts the stake in the series, tying up loose ends, resolving relationships, and giving fans a clear vision of the future…it just isn’t the future that many fans were hoping for.Series enders always garner backlash to some degree, and with a series like Sookie Stackhouse where fans were vehemently divided about who should win Sookie’s heart, I expected grumbling from the loosing team. But at the time of writing this review, DEAD EVER AFTER was averaging 2 stars based on over 600 reviews. Ouch. I knew this going in, so while I’m disappointed by the way the romance ended, I’m not wholly surprised by it either. In typical Sookie fashion, murder and mystery muck up the lives of Bon Temps characters we either love or hate by this point. Sookie ends up in prison and a few big names end up pushing daises. It’s a pretty standard storyline for the series, not my favorite, but not my least favorite in that respect either. There is even a point in the book towards the end where someone remarks at how convoluted everything was and I have to agree. As for the romance resolution that has everyone up in arms, Bill, Eric, Alcide, Quinn, and Sam all interact with Sookie in varying degrees (she kisses three of them). I’ll admit I had my guy picked out long ago, but I think I could have been okay with a few different guys if I felt adequately led in that direction with enough emotional build up. In the end though, I feel like both Sookie and I settled. I also don’t really like how the runners up fared since I think one in particular deserved a less ignominious fate.At any rate Sookie has her ending. Not the one any of us deserve, but it’s her ending and the one Charlaine Harris has given us. I still love this series and the characters Harris brought to life. Do I hope that Harris revisits Sookie and Bon Temps in the future? Absolutely. Am I outraged by this finale? No, just a bit wistful for what could have been a true bright spot on an otherwise bloody good urban fantasy series.Sexual Content:A brief sex scene.

I liked this book - was it as great as books 1-4? as good as 5-7? No to the first, mmmm-maybe to the latter. Books 1-4 sung with laughter and joy and fun. Even through the bizarre twists and turns that living amongst vampires and other oddities might cause, even through the deaths of family, friends and strangers, Sookie's life had joy and wonder. And, maybe by the last book in the series there should be a lot less joy, a lot less wonder. I'm not disappointed with how the book ended - it's the ending of a mature woman who's grown through 14 books. It's the ending she DOES deserve and it probably won't stop unusual events from happening in her life. The romantic part of me was both sad and happy for her. After all, we ALL want Prince Charming on the white horse, don't we? And most of us don't end up with him - or, if we do, we soon come to realize that he leaves his undies on the floor, can't wipe down a counter, and doesn't get the concept of coats and hangers. So. I liked this book. I get the ending, I accept it. I'll hope that when there are little Sookies running around, Ms. Harris might decide to give us some new joy and laughter and wonder from Sookie's point of view. And I'll always re-read books 1-7 when I want to smile. So glad to have had this series to look forward to and to enjoy and speculate upon. Long Live Sookie, Bill, Eric, Sam, Alcide, Quinn, Tara, Terry, Jason and the rest - in their book forms!

Some books just lend themselves to an audiobook, this is one of them. It was a quick and easy read. But I agree with the others, this is not Harris' best work. Definitely, borrow it from your local library.

An abcedarium of what happens to all the characters afterwards. Reads a little like an obituary at times (well, nto for the vampires, of course) but that's kind of cool. Nice wrap-up without a lot of messing around, and some hints of possible future stories.

I definitely expected more from this book. I knew it wouldn't be another story, but I'd hoped for more of a lexicon or encyclopedia type of thing with more detail. Instead, it's short blurbs on a bunch of characters (some of whom I'm still scratching my head to remember who they are). And even then, some of them just saying things like "He had many more adventures" which, why bother, then? I think we can assume as much.

The only potential highlight is that one character's blurb says "We may hear more about the rest of his life." I figure this could be hinting at a spin-off series, but I guess one never really knows for sure.

I don't recommend anyone buying this ($18, you've GOT to be kidding me). If you really must read it, pick it up at your library or something instead.

This was a quick read. I liked the little updates on everyone. The way some people read it makes me wonder if she is planning more books with just those people. It would be nice to read more about those certain people.

This is just Harris wringing out every potential penny from the series. Her defensiveness of ruining characters and plot lines really shines through in some of these entries.

This was probably one of the fastest books I've read out of the Sookie Stackhouse series. It was basically an A to Z list of all the characters and what happened to them after the series ended. It was funny and interesting. Quinn was especially short and not sure why? (Unless she is planning on doing a spinoff series about Quinn).

I read the other reviews before I checked this out at the library and I'm thinking those people didn't read this book right after getting done with the series. Or they just don't care for the book. I find it a companion to the series. I listened to the book on CD back to back to back and finished the last one this morning. Then picked this up from the library and read it immediately while the characters were fresh in my memory. Yes, I feel attached to these characters, yes I will miss having them in my car, but these are Charlaine's characters first and I'm perfectly fine with what she did with this book. It's very short and to the point on all the characters. I do remember them all because of listening to the books over the last 4 months. So I found this book enjoyable.

Oh what a piece of crap. Ouch, I am cutting myself here to the bone, it hurts to criticize CH. I love her style, her characters and the worlds she creates but this was so cut and dry, it was like reading wikipedia the short version. The whole books was just an alphabetical listing of all the characters and a brief sometime only a few sentences bit on basically what happened to them. There was nothing, interesting, no surprises, just the facts. It was so cold, emotionless, and dull. There was no love of the characters written into the last details. I barely remember 3/4 of these characters really, they and such little parts. I can see that she is done, burned out and tired of the BonTemp's gang.

This is the coda for the Sookie Stackhouse series. An alphabetical listing of all the characters from the series and what happens in their lives after the last book.As such, I'm not quite sure how to review it. There's not much to it at all and I think I read it cover to cover in less than an hour (and that includes the interruptions made by DH as he thought of 'just one more thing' he needed to mention before letting me read in peace). Some thoughts:

    1. This was so not worth $15 bucks

    2. Hints are made in the book that there may be spin off series' centering on certain characters.

    3. I don't actually have a #3.

If you're not a die hard fan who liked the way she ended the series, I'm thinking 'save your money'...

There is a lot of hate for this little book and yet I liked it. The clues in the few bullets on some characters gives hope that she will continue to do some short stories in this universe even if the main players are done and set in stone such as Barry the Bellboy and Dahlia. I think if I was to do a reread of the series I would have this book next to me to see what happens to all the smaller cast members as I read about them.

After reading the complete saga of Sookie Stackhouse I was expecting more from this book. It does not have half of the quality as Sookie the Stackhouse companion quality has. 3 lines to end almost all the characters.... Was so sad. The worse part was the faires I was expecting that Harris at least make an attempt to explain better the universe of the faires, it offer so many possibilities she can close so many ties I just felt that my money went to the trash can..... If you had been a fan of Sookie Stackhouse stories do not waste your money here.... Is not worth it.

This was a very cute and concise coda on what happened to the residents of Bon Temps. Some of the fates were tragic but some were awesome.

    SPOILER ALERT

Sookie and Sam got married, Eric moved on with Freyda, and Bill became King of Louisiana. I enjoyed it.

First of all, I will start by saying that I am extremely tolerant when it comes to this series. While others got disappointed by previous volumes or were upset by developments, I just rolled with it and still had fun with them. But, this book is a travesty and should never have been published. Not only is it a waste of time and space, with continuity errors, many blank pages and pages comprising of just decoration or only a few sentences (or less), and downright depressing made-up ends for a majority of the characters, but it doesn't even feel as though the author was taking it seriously. It feels as though the publishers wanted to do a grab for more money with one more book, so she just shrugged and tried to throw something together for each character and what happened to them after the series. Whether this is the truth of how the book happened or not, it should never feel as though the author doesn't even care what they're writing. All of the books in this series are on my keeper shelf, but this one I'll be getting rid of ASAP. It just isn't worth it. At all. If you feel you must read it, please do yourself a favor and get it from a library or borrow it from someone. You'll thank me later. Besides, with how little content there is here, even the slowest of readers will be done with it in no time, so you really could just sit down with it and not even bother taking it home.

Everyone has the whole rest of their life mapped out even if it is in just a few short sentences such as, they had kids and died in car accident that is pretty much all we get, however, I was left wondering about 3 characters Hunter & Quinn’s pages said they had many more adventures & Barry’s page said we may hear more about his life so it made me wonder are there more stories/books to come about these 3 characters.I for one wasn’t quite as disappointed as some with the final book in the series but I’m just not sure I liked the whole mapping out of everyone’s lives in a couple sentences I felt these characters deserved better than that. This took me about an hour to read because most pages have barely 2 sentences on them, if you are bound and determined to read this check it out from the library don’t waste your money on it, this could have easily been a .99 cent ebook not an $18.00 book.2 Stars

This is a list of characters from a to z. There is a brief paragraph on each character telling where they are now and what they are doing. Some of the characters are from so far back I couldn't remember who they were. It was nice to have closure from the ones I did remember. If you are a huge Sookie Stackhouse fan you will enjoy this book, others probably not.

This is gonna be short but sweet. I know there's a lot of angst over this series and many people refusing to buy this little gem because of their feelings. I look at it this way, Ms Harris wrote a series that became a cult following. She wasn't going to please everyone, no way.

I enjoyed the series. I had no expectations of who Sookie would spent her life with. It was just a series I enjoyed reading. Some books were better written than others and some books had better storylines than others. They were just stories.

After Dead is an epilogue to the series. It gives the ending to each character, or does it? Some made me wonder.

I enjoyed finding out what Ms Harris saw for each character after the series ended. It put a period on the series for me.

Cost wise, it was a bit expensive but as I have all the books in hard cover, I needed the print version of After Dead. I wouldn't normally pay the $10.80 but I collected them. Now, there is no way I would pay the $8.79 for the Kindle version. That's just a bit much.

What a disappointment! This is nothing but a couple of sentences per page outlining what happened to all the minor characters in the series. The series ran long enough that the names didn't even register with me.

Summary: This is not a novel, or even a collection of short stories, but more like an encyclopedia - except it only covers what happens to the various characters from the previous 13-plus books after the end of Dead Ever After. Each character gets a short blurb of a sentence or two, and never longer than a (very small) page or so.Review: My first thought when I finished this "book" - which took me less than an hour to flip through - was "weak sauce". Maybe because I am not a rabid fangirl for this series, but my reaction to 90% of the content of this book was "Who cares?". I've enjoyed the books (more so in the beginning than towards the end of the series, admittedly), and I like the show, but I could count the number of characters whose post-series lives I was even vaguely curious about on fewer than two hands. Sookie, Eric, Bill, Sam, Jason, maybe Tara and Amelia and Quinn and Hunter. That's about it. Do I really need to spend the other 200 pages reading about what happened to John Q. Random Vampire that played a bit part in book 3 and has never been heard from again? No. No I do not. And even when I was interested in the characters, the stories of what happened for the rest of their lives were either incredibly prosaic (married, kids, some good times and some bad times, blah blah) and therefore dull, or frustratingly vague (mostly to act as teasers for spin-off series, I'm guessing.) The only interesting information could easily have been worked into an epilogue to the last book, where it actually might have been worked into some kind of scene or story instead of being presented in this bullet-point style and padded with a bunch of filler. 2 out of 5 stars.Recommendation: Unless you are a huge, Sookie-verse-encyclopedia-reading, rabid devotee of the series, I'd take a pass. For more casual fans of the series, there's not really any critical information in here that you're missing.

If ever a book should be just checked out of the library instead of purchased, it would be this one. I read it in under a half an hour tops. I was a good soldier and stuck it out with the series until the very end, even when though the books got really bad and Charlaine couldn't quite keep everything straight anymore. I and the rest of the fans deserved better than this. Ninety five percent of the people updated I couldn't even remember who they were and I read every book in the series. It would have been nice to have a little footnote that let the reader know where in the series they appeared. It didn't matter anyway because most of the updates were only a sentence or two long. I finally got to somebody I cared about like Quinn and the update was only that he had many further adventures. That was it. Sookie of course got the longest update but I am sure the majority of the fan fiction was much better than what was put in this book. I don't want to be a hater but this was a small waste of time. I am not giving up on you Charlaine, I loved your Grave series but this book makes me ready to completely shut the door on Sookie. Maybe that was her intention.

Don't take me wrong, it was nice of Charlaine to share what happens to some of the characters after the series ended, but free on her website would have been more appropriate.Thankfully I waited for the library copy as I got through the entire book, reading every word, in about 30 minutes. And for the most part, I had no recollection of who many of these characters were, much less cared what happened to them. For those that I was interested in, the outcomes are a combination of happy, sad and sometimes, surprising. It sounds like the author might be visiting this world again in the future via someone other than Sookie.Unless you have to own every book written in this world, it's not something most people would want to own. I can't imagine ever wanting to go back to read it a second time.To give her credit, what happens to each character is unique to every other character.

Well, this book is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be - a disappointing coda to a series that ended in a rather disappointing manner. It really has to be a way to make more money on the Sookie Stackhouse franchise, because there's nothing of value here. Most of the characters here are incredibly obscure; I couldn't remember who half of them were. Sookie and Sam's relationship still feels horrifically forced, and one of my favorite characters of the series has a very unhappy ending (I won't say who, but it just felt like gratuitous angst thrown in by the author). And one of the characters that I WAS looking forward to reading about, John Quinn, just has this about him: "John Quinn had many more adventures." That's it. Yeah. Real descriptive there, Ms. Harris.I'm not surprised at how disappointing this book is, because I DID read the entire series, and that went downhill fast. But still...this feels like a ripoff, and I'm quite disappointed in myself for actually buying this book. In short, if you MUST read this book, borrow it from the library. It's not worth buying.

I got this little volume because I preordered it and forgot about it until it was delivered to my Kindle. It is a little encyclopedia with bullet points that tie up the fates of many of the characters and deliver hints about who Harris might write about next.I had low expectations after the last several Sookie books, and in that I wasn't disappointed. There were some funny and strange and sad fates, and I thought that Harris was probably trying to console readers, particularly over Eric's fate.It was a very slim read that took perhaps a half an hour to finish. I would not recommend actually purchasing the book until and unless it ends up on the remainders pile and you can pay the few dollars that this is actually worth. It wasn't a disappointment, really. If you had high expectations for it, then you hadn't been paying attention to the last several books in the series.
