This is a cute young adult book that is about a group of friends. The star of the book is Luthor, a doberman who belongs to Savannah. Luthor is a former guard dog, and he is scary to everyone but Savannah, but he appears to attack a champion dog during an appearance and Savannah's parents make her take him back to the pound to try to temper a lawsuit against them.

Savannah's friend Griffin comes up with a plan. If Luthor can win the dog show, they can use the winnings to pay off the lawsuit. They search out a trainer that Savannah had told them about and he works wonders with Luthor--at least until Savannah returns home.

Unlike most young adult books, I felt that there wasn't as much deceit (though there is still some) by the kids toward the parents. Yes, some of the schemes were a bit implausible, but I didn't feel any weren't something that a kid/teen might not come up with.

I loved the adventure and suspense that lead to an amazing ending. Cant wait to read Gordon Korman's newest book in the swindle series.

Luthor is a Doberman Pinscher - a formerly mistreated guard dog who was adopted by Savannah and her family. He gets in trouble for attacking a valuable show dog and is sent to the pound. Savannah's family is also sued for $7 million. Savannah's friend, Griffin, gets him out of the pound without telling Savannah and tries to make things right by turning him into a show dog to earn the money to pay the lawsuit.Griffin and his friends each have a specialty that turns out to be important in the end. The ending turns out well.
