Reviews for Falling Awake

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was pretty good, I found the words "level five lucid dreamer" repeated way too many times for my liking... really we get that's what they are just say they were dreaming - which she finally did later in the book thankfully.. The characters we good. I liked the way they interacted.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jayne Ann Krentz is an excellent author and her writing in Falling Awake is a great emphasis on that fact. This story is a great one and a book that will keep you engaged throughout. Its so amazing that Isabel and Ellis Cutler interact and get along in the story and the ending is beautiful. I really love an author who takes the time to explain why a character did something rather than ending with nary an explanation.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The level 5 dreaming was interesting. The characters were well developed. I enjoyed this novel
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Dream analyst Isabel Wright has her suspicions about anonymous Clients Number One and Two - suspicions that involve government agencies and serial killers. When her boss dies suddenly and his successor hands her a pink slip rather than the promotion she'd been promised, Isobel's plans for a secure future evaporate. Like Alice down the rabbit hole, she's thrust into a whole new world. Good thing Client Number Two, Ellis Cutler, turns out to be a lot more useful than the White Rabbit. No surprises here, but if you're a Krentz fan there's not much to be disappointed about, either.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5"What do you mean, you're on thin ice financially? Are we talking serious debt?"...Isabel cleared her throat. "I made some investments.""Please tell me you didn't do something stupid in the stock market.""I'm not in the market.""Did you buy a house?" Tamsyn looked relieved. "That's usually a good investment. I'm sure you'll be able to sell it."************************bwhahaha. Oh, for the halcyon days of 2004.The story is fine. Light, not particularly memorable. The lucid dreaming thing was a little baffling at times, which may be why JAK went on to having her characters have flat-out psychic powers following this book. I re-read it because it's one of those weeks when I really need a book that doesn't require any emotional or mental investment from me; it's definitely not among the author's best works.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Falling Awake was a fun, escapist read...er, listen. It had a good amount of suspense, but the romance elements were definitely there, too. The climax was good, but there was almost a full CD of resolution afterwards. What I really did like about this audio book was how short the tracks were on the CD - it was so easy to go back if you missed something or wanted to hear something again.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was a little complicated at first, as you really don’t understand what is going on, and the terms were foreign to me. But if you stick with it and read on, it was a great read. It was kind of typical girl meets boy, instant sizzle that carries on through the book, and you know they are going to get together at the end. On the other hand, the interesting part was in the details. Plot redone? Maybe. But a woman who analyzes dreams teams up with a guy who is an agent/ venture capitalist to catch another dream agent. I can honestly say that isn’t one I have seen before. If you want a schmaltzy read with a some suspense tossed in, this was a good one. =D
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Isabel Wright works at intrepreting dreams for some lucid dreamers, whose names she doesn't know but at least one of them is a presence in her dreams, but when her boss dies and she gets sacked bodies start acumulating. Ellis Cutler is one of those men. She needs to find out if she can trust him or if he's behind the deaths.
