About this audiobook

Dr. Sheila Tao is a professor of psychology, an expert in human behavior with her own hidden past. But she's not the only one keeping secrets. When Sheila began an affair with her sexy graduate assistant Ethan Wolfe, she knew she was playing with fire. Consumed by lust when they were together, she was riddled with guilt when they were apart. Now she's finally engaged to a good man, and it's time to end the dangerous liaison. But Ethan has something different in mind. He intends to make her pay for rejecting him.

As Sheila attempts to counter Ethan's increasingly threatening moves, he schemes to reveal her darkest, most intimate secrets by destroying her prestigious career . . . and then her. Caught in a terrifying cat-and-mouse game, Sheila must fight for her life and free herself from the ex-lover whom she couldn't resist-who is now the manipulative monster who won't let her go.

What can I say, I've never read a book by Jennifer Hillier that wasn't a 5 star from me. Stalking, sex addiction, kidnapping, and a twist. Perfection!

Definitely held my attention, definitely well constructed and good character development. Plot well maintained throughout the entire book and narrator did a nice job. Could have stood a little bit more roughness, some blood-and-guts to perk it up a little bit... but all in all pretty good.

I’m not great at writing reviews so I rarely leave one on here. I really loved the plot line and the twists and turns in this book. I’m looking forward to listening to book 2!

Great story! However, I would have preferred a different female narrator. Sorta threw me off to listen to a matured voice(maybe 60?) narrating a character that’s in their 30s. Narrator did a good job but that’s what I would have preferred.

Jennifer Hillier hasn’t disappointed me yet! There’s enough detail to keep me interested, without making the book too wordy, and the excitement keep going.

I really liked this book and probably would’ve given it 5 stars, but the ending was just a bit cut off for me. When I only had a handful of pages until the end and it wasn’t wrapped up I was a little nervous.

Sheila is a professor that has dealt with her own demons most of her life. When she finally meets Morris, they are perfect together and can build the perfect life, but first she has to break it off with her lover... and he does not like her new found happiness.

EGADS!!! Disclaimer; I only made it to chapter 4. Ok. I tried but so far this book is extremely unbelievable. Obviously in fiction we are asked to suspend reality to a certain extent but not this much. These characters are supposed to be well educated, smart people and yet we are expected to believe that they do things like divulge secrets like alcoholism and an estranged father/son relationship to a complete stranger without confirmation of motives. No one is this stupid. Also, these characters are all very unlikeable. They are extremely dishonest, morally bankrupt and well just gross. The amount of sex and profanity really adds nothing to the story. I understand that the author wants the characters to be flawed but come on. These people are train wrecks! What’s worse, they seemed completely surprised when their despicable acts have consequences. Seriously, the main character, Dr. Sheila Tao actually believes that she is the victim when her teaching assistant whom she was sleeping with tries to blackmail her with a video of them having anal sex. Why would she allow that to be recorded considering she’s about to get married and she could lose her job. A job that she expects us to believe is the most important thing in her life. I understand she made a mistake but she kept making it, and apparently felt that it needed to be recorded for posterity. If that were not enough, Shelia’s fiancé tells her stalker that he and Sheila have never had sex after being a couple for over a year. This is after said stalker puts on a disguise and goes to meet Sheila’s fiancé for a fake job interview. What kind of person confides information like that to someone they just met and is interviewing them for a job? If you like to read about smart people who are too stupid to live, go for it. I’ve rarely found a book that I was unwilling to listen to in its entirety but this one makes the cut.

I loved how twisted each character was in their own way, they each had their own issues that contributed to the storyline. But I was a little let down, I have enjoyed some of this authors other books so much that my expectations were high. I was a bored & could see the ending coming. The last twist wasn’t very exciting especially because of the lack of development from this character in general. I

The casual mention of black face in this is what took me out. No thanks. (Jar of Hearts by this same author is still a fave of mine though)

Creep is the perfect title for this psychological thriller. It opens with Dr. Sheila Tao telling her TA that their affair is over. She is getting married to a wonderful man, Morris. Ethan is livid, and although he has a girlfriend, Abby, that he adores, he craves Sheila, and the things they do together. Ethan cannot let go of his obsession for Sheila, and takes steps to control her and expose her addiction to ruin her reputation. This all leads to a chilling ending. Quite impressive debut novel.

Creep, a thriller by Jennifer Hillier, appeared to have a lot of promise after I read the back cover. It promised to be a thriller of deadly attraction, but turned out to be a bit of a dud. In this novel, psychologist and university professor, Dr. Sheila Tao, is having an affair with her teaching assistant, Ethan Wolfe, but when she tries to break it off with him to marry her fiancé, Ethan does not want to give her up.This novel is flawed in many ways. For one thing, the writing has a lot of melodrama that feels manufactured. The characters—almost all of them but in particular Sheila—are not particularly likeable. It’s hard to get into a novel even if it has many positive characteristics, if you can’t get behind the characters and root for them. Unfotunately, this novel neither has good characters or other positive aspects to it. There was a complete lack of believability in the plot as well as the actions of the characters. I didn’t buy the whole sex addiction part, and don’t think it’s a real thing, and it sure as hell doesn’t make me sympathize with the main character. The author tries to put this big twist in at the end of the novel, but it’s completely inconsistent with the rest of the novel to the point where it feels as if the author cheats the audience. This is a very forgettable book, one I would advise skipping.Carl Alves – author of Battle of the Soul
