      Here I go torturing myself with this series but I am determined to get through all of them even if they do not blow me away. They are not completely horrible and I am getting them through the library. As in the other books in this series I find the multiple cases going on at the same time to be too confusing. I liked this book because it features Jack Morgan. I find the stories he is in to be more interesting than the others. I won't get hung up on the fact that very little of the book actually takes place in Vegas. I appreciated how the ending wrapped things up for the most deplorable characters in the book. The story lines in this book are fairly predictable. I think the detective work is pretty lame.

      Not Patterson's best, but a very good suspense read. The Private series isn't my favorite, although I found the different plots in this one exciting. When reading these, one needs to turn off his or her "analyzer" brain and just enjoy the action! The story brings to light (frustrating to me since no matter how often it is exposed nothing is done about it) the disgusting practice of "diplomatic immunity" in this country. Shameful, America. Another frustration is Jacks ongoing war with his brother. This one needs closure!

      Typical Patterson, short chapters, a quick read with lots going on. Diplomats from the fictional Kingdom of Sumar go on a spree of assault and rape. A man teaches women to marry and kill rich men. A series of car fires on very expensive cars. And the ongoing trouble with Jack's brother Tommy.

      As with the whole Private series, this is a quick read...good for an airplane ride or time waster. Not sure why it is called Vegas as most of the book takes place in LA. Maybe should be Private: Los Vegas?

      Plots abound in the latest Private quick-read: a series of car explosions, a couple of despicable diplomats, an on-again, off-again romance, a trial, a less-than-loveable brother, a sleazy Vegas plan to kill off rich husbands. Jack Morgan, head of the detective agency Private, is the connection to most of these events and he’s kept busy as each one plays out. With lots of suspense and danger lurking around every corner, Patterson fans are likely to have a great time untangling the twists and turns to see how all those plot lines are resolved. The title of the book is a bit puzzling since very little of the action actually takes place in Las Vegas, but this may not be as much of a stumbling block for readers as the rushed cliffhanger ending.

      I enjoy the Private series and this one that is back in the U.S. (not a lot in Vegas, most in L.A.) was very enjoyable. Jack Morgan always has a lot on his plate and this book is no exception. Between his buddy and employee DelRio being on trial for assault, helping out the police with some rather smarmy "men" and I use the term loosely, who are assaulting women after drugging them but have diplomatic immunity and a client who has Private on retainer killing his wife, Jack and his crew are juggling. Tommy, his angry twin brother, also makes an appearance and tries to get Jack to sell him Private. The twists are entertaining and some are unexpected which makes the story hard to put down.

      In Private Vegas, various stories intertwine, from two diplomats running amuck with their immunity, to the trial of one of Private's key investigators, to a man training women to marry rich and then kill. I always enjoy the Private series and Patterson's books, and while this wasn't one of the strongest entries (there was just a little too much going on), I still had a good time reading it.

      Jack is back. So far, my favorites in the Private series all take place out of the agency's home office in Los Angeles. These novels all have multiple concurrent story lines of which Jack Morgan has varying degrees of involvement.In Private Vegas, his long time associate (and life-saver) Rick Del Rio is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend. A legacy client inherited from when his father owned the business, a very rich, elderly businessman, is concerned his young Filipino wife is trying to kill him, then when Jack doesn't respond immediately, take measures into his own hands and kills his young wife. Jack's Lamborghini explodes while parked on the street near his house...one of a rash of high-end car bombings that turns deadly when one such car had a young actress sleeping in the back seat. And then there's Tommy, Jack's evil twin bent on wresting control of the successful agency away from Jack or destroying it. This is a long story arc that continues after several books and remains a point of contention for the future.
