This was a good follow-up in this series, even though it takes place years after book one. This story is about Charlotte Valentine Bishop. She leaves her life in Michigan after a less than desirable marriage ends with the death of her husband, and is hoping to find peace and refuge from the pain of her past at Fort Robinson, where she once lived with her Father and Mother. Once she arrives with her son, she will face situations where she must be strong again, even when she feels weak. She wants a normal life for her only child, but circumstances will threaten that dream also, and emotions she once thought were long dead will be rekindled by a soldier friend in uniform she once knew. I enjoyed this story and the way you were brought up to date with the people in and around Fort Robinson. I look forward to reading the 3rd book in this series next, "Footprints on the Horizon".
