About this audiobook

Ever since her sister Kasey was institutionalized, then seeing Lydia Small die a horrible, violent death, Alexis just wants thing to go back to the way it was before all of it happened. But normal people don't see decaying bodies haunting photographs. Normal people don't have to deal with regular intrusions from Lydia's angry ghost, sometimes escalating to terrifying attacks.

At first, it seems that Lydia wants revenge on Alexis alone. But a girl from school disappears one night, and Alexis spots one of Lydia's signature yellow roses lying on the girl's dresser the next day. Soon, it becomes clear that several of Alexis's friends are in danger, and that she's the only person who can save them. But as she tries to intervene, Alexis realizes that her enemy is a much more powerful ghost than she's ever faced before...and that its fate is tied to hers in ways she couldn't possibly imagine.

Not even in her worst nightmares.

A bit of an underwhelming conclusion to the Bad Girls Don't Die trilogy. It ramps up in the last 1/3rd of the book but considering how long it takes to get to that point, it might not be worth it. I also spent an obscene amount of time thinking bad thoughts about main character Alexis and wishing she'd stop making stupid decisions. Also, I hate that the character of Zoe Perry was not even developed but stayed at the stereotypical bitter girlfriend level, so the audience would be forced to side with Carter and Alexis due to Zoe's underdevelopment and obnoxious behavior. Ugh. But Lydia was pretty entertaining and so was the yearbook staff, and it did get pretty decent around the final act of the story. So it gets three stars - but not any higher.

(This review can also be found on my blog The (Mis)Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year Old Girl).

If you've read my reviews on the first two books in this series, you will know my love affair with the Bad Girls Don't Die series. Katie Alender has fast become one of my top three favourite authors. I loved As Dead As It Gets as much as the first two which is saying something as usually most sequels fail to get my love.

Alexis is back in the next installment of Bad Girls Don't Die. This time girls start going missing and Alexis is also being attacked. Alexis discovers that something supernatural is going on. Will Alexis be able to find the missing girls or will Alexis become a ghost herself?

I think the title of this book suits more of the series than the actual book itself. I mean, yes it also suits the book, but it suits the series better. I like how Katie Alender has stuck with titles that seem to blend into one another.

If you've read my reviews of the other two books in the series, you will see how I feel about the covers. I think the cover is gorgeous, but I just wish there was something more to the cover. I think the girl in the cover is either supposed to be Alexis or a ghost featured in this book.

Katie Alender does a fantastic job in the world building and setting in each of her books, and this book is no different. Alender made Alexis' surroundings come to life in great detail. It's quite easy to actual feel as if you are part of Alexis' world.

As always, the pacing of this Katie Alender title is perfect. It's not too slow nor is it too fast. The story flows very well. I ended up devouring all three books in this series, not literally though as paper doesn't taste too good, lol. As Dead As It Gets is such an easy read to immerse yourself in.

The dialogue and wording are easy to understand. All the teenage characters actually sound like teens. The words seem to just flow into one another. I didn't come across any swearing either.

The characters are all well developed as with the other two titles in the series. Alexis is a bit more paranoid in this book, and I also found that she's a bit of a pushover when it comes to Jared. I constantly wanted to yell at her to just leave Jared!! Jared comes across as being the controlling boyfriend type. I really couldn't stand him because of the way he was treating Alexis. My favourite character in this book was Lydia. I loved her sarcasm and humour. We really get to see a lot more of Lydia in this novel, and her personality shines through.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. It is so good!! I'm hoping this isn't the end of the Bad Girls Don't Die series. If it is, I might have to beg Katie Alender to keep writing more of this series as it is so good!

I'd recommend this book to everyone aged 13 .

Alexis is well rid of the mystical. Or so she thinks. While she is trying to keep away from the paranormal, it seems that the paranormal is seeking them out. Now wherever she looks, she see ghosts. This book was really good, probably the best in the series. Alexis is still trying to manage everything on her own and it is a big part of her problems in this book. This was also the spookiest book of the series but still not terribly so. I know that teens would really enjoy this series.

alexis is now suspected for the murder of lydia small. But this is not the case at all it was a ghost that killed her. Alexis can now see ghost and her best friend ghost belive it or not is lydia small. alexis soon discovers there is an evil ghost taking the girls that get in the way of her and her boyfriend jared. alexis is suspected for the murder of all of them. it turns out that the ghost is jareds ex-girlfriend who wants jared to be happy and she isnt even a ghost its all of jareds pent up feelings. alexis tells him this and he gets mad. so he tries to convince her to commit suicide with him. so alexis crosses the guard rail when he starts to jump she grabs the guardrail and pushes him off. alexis is accused of murder again and her agent gets her cleared. as dead as it gets is just as intense as the first two. it might be even better then the first two. i highly recommend reading this series. its amazing.

This is my favourite book of the entire trilogy. Katie Alender has come up with some good unique ideas which is always refreshing. Lexi was a good kid and the ending fits to her personality. I hope there are more books to this series because I enjoyed the style of writing.

Alexis Warren has a almost perfect life. Being accused as a murderer after witnessing Lydia Smalls death. She is the outcast at school. Her Boyfriend Jared, sister, Kasey, and best friend Megan may be the only people who can still trust Alexis. With Lydia following by her side as a ghost. She is trieng to figure out why Alexis can see ghosts in her pictures. The same ghost with long blonde hair, a purple dress, and holding a yellow rose. She thinks it may have someting to do with Lydia. But ever since she has been with Jared someone of her friends get lead away from thier housse into the woods and almost always ends up dieing. Alexis tries to save her friends by finding out how to stop the ghost. Alexis gets in trouble for being st the sight of her friend Elliots death and gets sent to Harmony Valley. There she finds out that the ghost that is killing her friends is Jared long gone love that is trying to keep her and Jared together forever. She doesnt believe that her and Jared should be together forever so she pushes Jared off a cliff and gets accused for murder. Her agent tries to pursuade them not to put her into Jail. Thats my summary of As Dead As It Gets. For the book As Dead As It Gets I was very happy with how the author wrote the story. In the beginning her and Jared were in the forest and that where she first saw the ghost. I had to keep reading from there because I knew that I would be good. If you are looking for a book that is romance/ horror kind of book I would definitely recommend this book for you. It has cliffhangers that just leave you wanting to keep reading more and that what I like about this book. The hole ghost situation is just so crazy it amazing and the way she describes it is like nothing else. I would definitely recommend this book for girls since it is a little more girly. But other than that I really enjoyed this book.

Cover Impressions: So much cover love. Even before reading the book I was a big fan of the creep factor behind each of the Bad Girls Don't Die covers. After reading, I am happy to note that every detail included in this cover, from the dress to the flowers, is reflective of the story. The color scheme features the prettiest lavender and makes me want to blow it up and frame it.

The Gist: Alexis and ghosts go way back. She has successfully thwarted both a possessed doll and a demon seeking poise, perfection and death. These encounters have left her with the ability to see ghosts through the lens of a camera and stripped her of her best friend, her boyfriend and now the one thing that was keeping her sane; her photography.

Review: I have been waiting for this finale for a very long time. I had high hopes of growth for Alexis and some truly scary moments for myself. I was not disappointed on either point.

The fact that Alexis only sees ghosts (other than Lydia) in pictures and on film is a really neat twist. Especially being faced with them in magazines and textbooks. It makes me think about how often we look at photographs and video in our everyday lives. For Alexis, this twist seems to take away the one constant in her life – her photography. At this point, she has lost Megan, Carter and now her one refuge. It makes for a bleak start to the novel but I think Alexis needed to be broken down and stripped of her safety blankets so that she could grow into a better person.

This plot twist also creates some truly terrifying moments. Imagine shooting pictures in the dark that show a gruesome specter standing right in front of you, but not being able to actually see the creature with your own eyes. It adds an extra element of terror to the novel's ghostly encounters. This time around, the ghosts are incredibly intense and terrifically terrifying. This is not one to read while home alone. Or perhaps it is the perfect book for that.

Alexis continues to struggle with her character flaws but growth is on the horizon, I promise! I know some readers are annoyed by characters who take too long to start behaving in a manner that we see fitting, but I believe Alender has portrayed an accurate representation of the effort and emotion that goes into seeing one's flaws and attempting to fix them. That said, I was very happy when Alexis finally begins to trust other people and, eventually, herself. And then there is Lydia. Despite her trying to kill all the member of the Sunshine club in From Bad to Cursed, I always liked Lydia. I was very happy to see her return and even more happy to see her role advance from background lurker to strong supporting character. Lydia has a way with snarky remarks and reminds me that even the prickliest of teenagers can be hiding a real strength of character beneath.

Katie Alender manages to create a plot with an exciting blend of low build and high action. Chilling moments are interspersed with emotional breakdowns and relationship building. The intricacies of the story are slowly revealed and begin to knit together to create an ending that incredibly satisfying for those of us who have read and loved this series and these characters (even Alexis). I am sad to see it end, but happy that it did so on a high note. I cannot wait to see will flow from Mrs. Alender's pen next.
