      Elena is still annoying as I don’t know what.. the doubt the she still carries is getting to be tiresome.. I’m glad we got some answers on why her dad hates the hunters but let’s move on let her grow a little bit faster. The books with her and Rafael are my least favorite of the series. I’m so glad that I see she brings in different couples throughout.
      Now the Legion is very intriguing, so I’m interested in seeing where that goes but for now I’m off to the next book

      *Contains Spoilers*Archangel's Legion is book six in the Guild Hunter series and I am so happy that I have returned to this series and after reading this book I wanted to read book one again, because I love me some Raphael and Elena. They are one of my favorite pairings and boy these do were EPIC in this novel and Nalini Singh has really outdone herself in this book. Now, this review will probably contain spoilers, so readers beware.Archangel's Legion begins with Raphael and Elena, going about their duties in their lives and to their territory. Elena is still trying to face up to her past especially that past with her mother's death and her father's abuse over the years of her childhood. She is still having nightmares but they are becoming less the more time she has spent with Raphael. But there is a change coming for both of them. There is a Archangel who is building a army of death soldiers but she is the most powerful of them all and Raphael isn't even sure he can kill her with all of his power. With Elena's influence, Raphael is starting to see the power and good thinking in building allies and friendships with other powerful Archangel's. “Raphael, in case you're getting ideas - I won't be this civilized if you decide you need a concubine. In fact, it's a good bet I'll turn homicidal. He didn't look up from his conversation with Astaad as he said, A pity, in that cool "Archangel" tone of his. I will now have to ask the pilot to empty the hold of my chosen females. We're going to have to talk about this new sense of humor of yours.”There is a change that we see from the first couple of books in Raphael and Elena to this book. I love seeing how powerful they are together both as leaders and as a couple working out kinks in their relationship. They are living in their HEA, but we see that life isn't full of roses and daisies either, they have many conflicts to overcome.The situation starts to escalate when there are falling birds in the sky and including many angels falling from the sky and many being brutally injured and a handful being killed from this phenomenon. Raphael has no clue who is behind it all, but there is a new power rising in him that he doesn't truly understand yet, and there is a facial mark that is beginning to form and it isn't worrying Raphael too much but its terrifying Elena. Now Elena is having to face some real fears because of what is happening around them and she doesn't think she could survive losing Raphael, she has lost so much and what I really liked in this book is the vulnerability that we see in Elena. She can kick ass, of course, she is a Guild Hunter but she does have vulnerabilities and I really love seeing her flaws and seeing her trying to overcome them and becoming a better person as a whole. But when there is a sickness killed vampires, Elena goes on the hunt to find out what or who is behind it all and before Raphael and Elena know it, a new power is coming into Raphael and war is coming onto their doorstep, a war that they might not be able to win....one that could destroy Raphael and Elena. “The power, it seduced, whispering to me to weave it into my own cells." A glance over his shoulder. "Before you, I would've no doubt accepted it and it would've destroyed me from the inside out." "Before you," she whispered, "I was shut up inside my heart, protecting it from harm, and never knowing the glory I missed." She linked her hand in his. "You and I, we're a unit. I dare any evil on this earth to tear us apart.”THIS BOOK!!! I can't even describe in words how much I adored this book and its one of my favorites of the series. These books just get better with each installment and after reading this book I remembered how much I truly adore Raphael and Elena. They are so epic together and it's in this book that you realize why they are such a favorite couple among so many readers. I love how strong they are together, Eternity would mean nothing without you. For no power on this earth would I trade my ElenaThis book I was able to listen to and boy Justine Eyre does such a good job with these books, she really displays Singh's voice so well and I love how she portrays these stories. I would like to say that I didn't want to put this book down, it was SO SO delicious. We have some fun sexy times between Raphael and Elena and they definitely still get creative and hot in the bedroom. There is a built up of plot twists in this book and boy the intensity and suspense in this book was SO fantastic. Definitely beats some romantic suspense novels I have because it's a roller coaster of action and intrigue and loved seeing one of my favorite couples in action once again.Overall I found Archangel's Legion to be an intense whirlwhind of action, drama, world shattering romance and a story to soak into and never want to let go of!! STUNNING!

      I adore this series. I am glad, though, that the next book is Ash and Janvier's; both because I am excited to read their story, but also because I am looking forward to a new romance. I love Elena and Raphael, but like half of the last book seemed to be about their sex life. Of course, it might just seem that way to me because I listened to the audiobook and mostly at the gym, so it was kind of unsettling to be listening to sex scenes in public...

      With the cascade rapidly approaching and the Archangels of the world developing new and frightening powers, guild hunter and newly created angel, Elena Devereaux, must deal not only with the possibly deadly changes in her consort’s behavior, but also with an unknown foe with the ability to bring death and destruction to angels and vampires alike.

      After two installments focusing on other couples, the Archangel Raphael and his kick-ass consort, Elena, are back with a vengeance. Although the focus in their relationship is no longer on the trials and tribulations of their rather original courtship, the romance is still exciting as the two learn the deeper lessons of love and trust. Much of the book is dedicated to the friction between them as Elena and Raphael push each other to the limits and come out stronger on the other side after copious amounts of angry make up sex.

      The rest of the plot revolves around an enemy’s attempt to destabilize Raphael’s hold on his territory by causing angels to fall from the sky and infecting vampires with a deadly plague. There are numerous twists and turns in the investigation, but the revelation of the villain’s identity it not really surprising given events from previous books. That said, the battle at climax and resolution of the book is incredibly tense and exciting and there are moments when the outcome looks bleak.

      In terms of the secondary characters, more information is forthcoming on other previously neglected members of the Seven, namely the enigmatic Aodahn and the spooky Nasir although Illium is till my favorite. The explanation of the title is another compelling aspect of the story and it will be interesting to see the direction in which Singh takes these developments.

      All in all, an exciting and entertaining addition to the series and I look forward to Ash and Janvier’s story next.

      It might possibly be my favorite in the series thus far. I can't believe in the sheer talent capable of creating such an amazing and complicated world, with intriguing characters and relationships. Everything is so intertwined and by the end of the book you feel this rush of awesomeness and just can't wait until you can get your hands on the next one. Incredible!

I’m a little behind in this series so I’m trying to play catch up. The sixth book in the Guild Hunter series brings us back to Elena and Raphael and in case we have forgotten the love that these two characters have for each other, we are quickly reminded of this wonderful and everlasting love.The world is going crazy. Angels are falling from the sky. Vampires are getting sick and dying. And Archangels’ are gaining some really interesting powers from the Cascade. An inevitable war is coming to Manhattan.Power is everything when it comes to Archangels. When it appears that vampires are getting sick and dying from a strange unknown disease, Raphael cannot let the news get out. He doesn’t want his own followers to know. If it gets out then war will come sooner to Manhattan. Raphael knows that Lijuan is his number one enemy but he knows that some other angels are working with her to destroy him. He just needs to unravel who all his enemies are.Archangel/Angel politics is complicated as Elena is continuing to learn as Raphael’s Consort. She can never appear weak and always act as if nothing bad is happening. Elena is a bit weak as an angel but she’s growing stronger every day. Elena is a bit unconventional but that is one reason why Raphael loves her. Another thing that Elena is learning is how to act as a Consort at parties and secret meetings.Archangel’s Legion had a lot of stuff going on. I will say as much as I loved this book there were a couple times when I wasn’t quite sure where the story was going. From the synopsis I thought it was just about the vampires dying of a strange disease. Every time it felt like this was over it came back even worse than before. Then there was the strange Ball that was held by Raphael’s mother that just supported how some angels don’t like Elena and her meeting one of Raphael’s past lovers which did give her a bit of an unwarranted complex that she isn’t good enough for him. In the end, I was not expecting the all-out war that the novel ended with.Unlike the previous novel in this series, Archangel’s Legion only stayed with Elena and Raphael’s third person point of view. There were glimpses into each of Raphael’s Seven. I cannot wait to read more about Illium and Aodhan. Their story left me really wanting to know more. I highly recommend this series for readers who like the darker edge to their stories. The love scenes are intensely erotic.Overall, this is one series that continues to go strong. I’m so excited that I can pick up more in this series without having to wait too long. I strongly urge anyone to check out this series or this author if they haven’t already.Notable Scene:Walking to the edge of the pond, she fought her habit of pretending things didn’t matter when they did, and admitted the truth. “I knew I’d run into one of your lovers sooner or later.       -2.5 I really enjoyed the holding power this series had over me, in the past. I had a hard time just staying focused on the story. It strayed too far away from the main action to keep me engaged and intrigued with the characters. I am finished reading this series. It has gone in a direction that does not suit my taste.
      I love Raphael and Elena, they are a fabulous couple, yes they rub wings very well. I know because they did this often, too often for my taste. It felt to me that the main focus was of their unbreakable bounding in all ways. I wanted more on the side characters, more on the infections, the back stories of these other archangels, more conflict. I didn't find the brief moments of conflict mixed in the lovey-dovey detailed enough to hold me hostage. I never believed they were really in danger.
      The title, Archangel's legion, seems very wrong after finishing this book. We don't find out what the Legion is till the last 20 pages. I would have liked them introduced earlier on to break the monotony of Raphael and Elena.
      The part of the book I enjoyed- the dreams, they were creepy and very interesting. I wanted more on them. The Legion, ? What, How, Who- Geesh it was the title after all. These part were fantastic but the author only through out crumbs on them.
      Not my flavor of reading material. Bye Bye

      This was my least favorite of the series so far. There were no new romances - just more of Elena and Raphael. It was just too gruesome and too many battle scenes with the evil Lijuan. Seriously I've read enough about beheadings and limbs being ripped off. Not to mention some horrible scenes with children on a cruise ship. Not sure if I'll continue with the series. I "read" this from an audiobook and I didn't care for the narrator much either which didn't help.

      The next book in the series is a few months after the attack The Cascade is continuing to change the archangels in new ways and things are attacking the angels and making the vampires ill. Elena still is not getting the respect she is due as Raphael's consort from the angels outside the New York area. The vampire illness seems to be angel made and they are keeping it mostly contained but they don't know when something might happen to the angels again. The upsides in the story is that things come to a head with her father and she is making sure she has a relationship with her younger sisters. The book has a good ending but of course you know there will be more but you are not left hanging wondering what the next attack will be.

      A fantastic new addition to the Guild Hunter Series. It's all about Elena and Raphael in this installment.


      What I liked: Each character in this novel and in the previous ones are so very carefully crafted. Ms Singh is a master at creating complex, sympathetic, hateful (the villains) and spine tingling characters. Yes, the novels are story driven but the characters make everything come alive. Each character is constantly evolving and always keeps you guessing. I enjoyed seeing a different side of Raphael and Caliane's relationship. Seeing Elena forging relationships will all the different people was a revelation into her role as the Consort/Hunter and overall the person she truly is. I love Bluebell but now I'm a bit in love with Sparkle. Ms Singh always keeps you guessing. I can't figure out where this series is going but I am loving the ride!
      The highest compliment I can think to give an author is: I became lost in the story, the characters, the plot and the feelings in your novel. This is exactly what happened to me while reading Archangel's Legion. Kudos Ms Singh!


      What I didn't like: Okay, this is pitiful but I missed the by play between Elena and Dmitri.


      The prices (KIndle - $5.99 and paper back $7.19) had no bearing on whether I would buy Archangel's Legion. I wasn't going to miss it but it is very well priced for a best selling author of Ms Singh's status.

STOP READING NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE REST OF THE GUILD HUNTER SERIES**I would love, love, love to say that Archangel’s Legion, the fifth installment of the Guild Hunter series just piled on the awesomeness but I have to be honest. In many ways, I was totally blown away by this series in other ways, I felt completely let down. What didn’t blow me away:**The almost complete dedication of this read to Elena and Raphael. While I continue to love these characters, especially Raphael, and understand that some serious evolution happened in this read, I am ready for the series to move forward and focus on some of the other characters. It’s time for Illium (who is evolving!) and Aodhan (who is stunning in so many ways!) to have their own story. Hell, I even want to know more about Elijah and his consort, Hannah and Caliane. **The multitude of naughty bits. If you follow my reviews, you know I loves me some naughty bits and generally speaking, the dirtier the better. BUT, I have to say, I got a bit tired of all the naughty moments in this read. I fully appreciate, Singh was working toward a goal and making a point (revealed toward the end) with all the naughtiness but it really got the point where I found myself thinking, “Oh, good, Elena and Raphael are shagging again.”What did blow me away:**Illium and Aodahn!! Illium is evolving and though he is still our beloved Bluebell, he is becoming something more, something stronger. Illium still has his wonderful sense of playfulness but his warrior side shines through in this installment making him sexier than ever. As for Aodahn, I am head over heels in love with this angel! Though generally quiet and unobtrusive, this broken painter/warrior begins to come out into the light in this installment. And holy crap, does he shine – literally! (HA!! Bluebell and Sparkle!!) Though we still have no idea about Aodahn’s past and what it was that broke him, we do know that he now has a desire to come out of the shadows. Hands down, my favorite scene with Aodahn – and in the entire book – is the quiet moment between Aodahn and Illium toward the end of the read. This one brought me to tears.**The Legion. We all know that even among the Cadre, Raphael is special. He is the son of two archangels, he ascended far sooner than any other angel in history and, he is the only one among the Cadre who can harm the bat-sh*t crazy Lijuan. Does he really need any more awesomeness? Yeah buddy!! And that awesome comes in the form of The Legion. Risen from the Sleep, the Legion are only active when the right archangel at the right time is in need of their unique assistance. Raphael and the rest The Seven are in it up to their necks and just when it seems all hope is lost, The Legion come to the rescue. Though I am not entirely sure what will happen with them in the future, they are here to stay and I am excited to see what they can do. **The increased role of the Guild: It’s called The Guild Hunter series for crying out loud but this is the first time I really felt like the Guild played a truly vital role in the outcome of events. Elena drives home the point for Raphael that the Guild has always assisted the Tower and has always been involved in the control and capture of rogue vampires so why can’t they be involved in saving the city they too love. During the height of the drama and the action, Guild members as much as the angels fought to protect their home. Additionally, it was good to see how the humans, the vampires and the angels came to one another’s aid during the dark moments of the great battle. The Bottom Line: I am still 100% committed to the Guild Hunter series but this installment did let me down a little bit. For as disappointed as I was in certain aspects of this read, I was equally excited and pleased with others. I am still 100% in favor of recommending this series to readers but do sincerely hope that the next few installments will see Elena and Raphael once again taking a back seat to some of the other characters in the series.

      It is the time of a Cascade. Archangels are gaining new powers. Lijuan has decided that it is time for her to unleash her undead armies on Raphael's New York. So war breaks out between Lijuan who has the power of death and Raphael who is gaining new powers of life.The war starts with an attack that sends angels falling out of the sky leaving half on New York's forces injured and unable to fight. Then a disease is found to be killing vampires. Signs point to Lijuan but other archangels could be responsible too. Raphael and Elena need to find allies in the coming fight.On the smaller, more personal side, Elena learns more about her father's past and perhaps some of the reasons that he rejected her so thoroughly after the death of her mother and older sisters. It looks like the past is repeating itself as he tries to keep Elena's young half-sister Eve from becoming the Hunter she was born to be. I like the relationship between Elena and her young sister. I also liked watching Elena grow into her role as Raphael's Consort.I very much liked the relationship between Elena and Raphael. They are so well-matched. Elena is the only one who can stand up to Raphael and keep him from becoming the soulless monster that archangels sometimes become as they lose touch with the human lives under their commands. Elena's humanity is just what Raphael needs. This was a very fierce story to read. Watching the forces build up for battle and then fight for survival was filled with many tense moments and some very human ones too. I liked the human bits as Elena spends time with Sara and her infant daughter, helps a vampire who is starting a business keep her business going when trouble comes, and takes a sick human child flying. I also like her relationship with Raphael's cadre and with the other angels in the tower. This was a great addition to a compelling urban fantasy series.

      I really enjoyed reading about Elena and Raphael and could not wait for Nalini to get back to them after the 2 Guild Hunter books without them. I honestly had no want to read books 4 or 5 and was a little worried that I would be lost when I jumped back in for ARCHANGEL'S LEGION, but I am happy to report that I felt like I had not left the series at all.A surprising amount of events and confrontations happen in ARCHANGEL'S LEGION and it's all written so smoothly that before you know it the book is at its end and you are pining for more. We get Angel's falling from the sky, woman throwing themselves at Raphael (although that is nothing new), Mother in Law drama, father drama and a supernatural war that you will not soon forget. I love the development of Raphael and Elena's relationship. They have gone through a lot and they closer and closer every day and with every event. They both complement each other really well and I love watching them together. Elena handles the woman coming after Raphael surprisingly well and I can not help but laugh thinking of anyone brave enough to come after their relationship in the future. Raphael's Mom surprised me, I enjoyed her more than I thought I would after certain events. I understand Elena's Father better after ARCHANGEL'S LEGION. It will never excuse his behavior but I understand him now. The author brings out a lot of emotions in this installment you will be laughing, cringing, crying and yelling with the rest of us when you dive in.The fight at the end, CRAZY! I was gripped to my seat with my heart pounding out of my chest while reading and I never thought it would end like it did. Why must we wait to get more? Will book 7 stay with Raphael and Elena? I really really hope so.

      I started this around midnight, thinking I'd read a couple chapters before bed. At 4am I finished it with gritty eyes and adrenaline pumping through my veins.

      Though I've enjoyed Singh's foray into the lives of Raphael's seven over the last few books, it was really good to get back to Elena and Raphael.

      Full review to come, but I will say this was a phenomenal read. The series just keeps getting better.
