      Title: Falling Like Snowflakes ( A Summer Harbor Novel #1)Author: Denise HunterPages: 352Year: 2015Publisher: Thomas NelsonMy rating is 5 stars.The cover surely doesn’t capture the really wonderful tale written inside. I hope the sequel coming out in 2016 has a better cover that conveys the story more accurately. Inside is a story that includes themes like overcoming fear, trusting, relying on the Lord and romance to name a few. The main characters are a woman and her very young son who change their names and looks in order to stay safe and alive. When her car breaks down, she walks into a small town looking for a job. While she is eating, she decides to go to the restroom and while in the restroom her bag is stolen. Now she has neither money nor any belongings, but she’s alive. She is not sure how safe she is after witnessing a murder.If I tell you her name that would give away a little of the book so I will wait for you readers to discover who she is when you open the book. The other characters are a family named Callahan who have endured heartache and are running a couple of businesses, with one being a Christmas tree company started by the father, who the family lost a year ago. Three brothers, who are all bachelors, have an aunt coming home from the hospital in a few days and needing a caretaker. While she may have a rough side to her, she sure is a pistol making me laugh at times when reading.Through various happenings the woman and her young son come to the Christmas tree place looking for a job exactly when the bachelors need someone to look after their spitfire of an aunt. There is palpable tension I felt when reading the book as it becomes apparent that someone is out to eliminate the woman and her son as they can identify the men who committed murder. The focus is on Beau, who is the oldest of the three brothers and who runs the tree farm. Zac owns and runs a restaurant followed by Riley who is looking to mature outside the “little brother” box. The location of the story is in Maine and the family loves Patriots football. While I don’t care for the Pats, I didn’t hold that against the author. The love of Christ is really represented in the story as well as the hope He alone brings when our lives have been torn apart as well as having broken hearts. I sat and read the story within a couple of hours. It really reaches into the reader’s imagination as well as leading readers like me to a more realistic conclusion instead of one that resembles a fairy tale. I cannot wait for the next book to be released in 2016, A December Bride.       Sweet, yet predictable story. It could be a bit hard to follow at times due to the constant name switching of the main character.

      Well, I really don't read romance novels and didn't know this was one when I requested it from the library. I sat down to check it out before I returned it to the library unread and guess what? I read the whole thing! I think if you like romance novels, this would probably be a 4 or 4.5 star read. It really held my interest and the romance part wasn't too much for my temperament and didn't happen until almost the end!

      Eden is on the run, at first we don't know from who or what or why, we know only that it is imperative that she and her young child get to their destination, she needs a safe place to hide out but we don't know why. Car trouble and lack of money to fix it leave her in desperate circumstances. Stranded on a bitter cold night with only the clothes on her back and nobody to turn to for help.

      Her luck turns when she is offered a job of caring for a woman who recently had an accident, but as she begins to settle in and almost feel safe with this family they are suspecting that she is hiding a troubles past and some dangerous secrets.

      This book is the first in what looks to be a promising series. I can picture this in my mind as one of those Lifetime holiday movies, it would be perfect for it. If you enjoy a little suspense and action mixed in with your romance this is the book for you.

      With Falling Like Snowflakes, Denise Hunter's Summer Harbor series is off to a delightful beginning. Centered around the Callahan brothers, this first novel in the series perfectly blends romance and intrigue when Beau hires mysterious newcomer Eden Martelli to help out around the house while his aunt recovers from a broken leg.

      Eden and her young son, Micah, are fleeing for their lives when her car breaks down in Summer Harbor. When they become stranded after her money is stolen, she is desperate for a place to stay and although she is out of her element, she gratefully accepts Beau's job offer. With their lives at risk, she is afraid to trust anyone but herself and she skillfully dodges Beau's questions about herself. Eden's stubbornness puts everyone at risk when Beau begins secretly looking for answers about her past.

      Finding out the truth about Eden is just one of the problems Beau is facing. His relationship with his girlfriend Paige is a little unsettled and things between them become even more strained after he meets Eden. A shocking announcement from his brother, Riley, adds to his stress and the rift between them continues to widen.

      The romance between Eden and Beau is slow growing and there are many obstacles for them to overcome when they unexpectedly fall in love. It takes a while for Beau to work through his emotions and arrive at a decision about his relationship with Paige. Eden's tumultuous past has left her with little desire to enter into a relationship of any kind and her trust issues make it nearly impossible for her to discuss what happened prior to her arrival in town. Resolving her immediate problems is just the beginning of the healing process for Eden and much to Beau's dismay, a future together remains far from certain.

      Falling Like Snowflakes is a charming romance with appealing characters and a gentle undercurrent of faith. Denise Hunter skillfully weaves all of the various elements into a realistic story that is fast-paced and quite engaging. A wonderful introduction to the Callahan brothers that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next novel in the Summer Harbor series.

      The biggest problem with this novel is that it is too much like other novels where the abused wife is on the run - the book even references "Safe Haven" by Nicholas Sparks. It got in the way of my enjoyment of the story - it just felt too cliche.

      I really enjoyed this sweet romance. While the storyline isn't made up of the most original idea, it was written in a way that had me wanting to turn the pages. Like most contemporary romance, the outcome is easily enough predicted, but it is that sweet ride that I love so much, and the ride was wonderful. I love these characters, and couldn't hope for them to be any more than they are.

      Denise Hunter’s newest series, set in Summer Harbor, Maine, stars the Callahan brothers, who made appearances in both Hunter’s Married ‘til Monday and Colleen Coble’s The Inn at Ocean’s Edge, and begins with the delightfully and festively romantic Falling Like Snowflakes. Beau Callahan, the eldest of the brothers, gets his shot at romance in this first novel, as Eden Martelli and her son unexpectedly arrive in town, desperate and in danger. Eden has a lot of secrets and Beau a strong desire to protect. As they get to know one another, their stubborn wills clash on more than one occasion, circumstances bring out issues of faith and trust and letting go, and romance develops unwantedly but sweetly. From start to finish, I wholeheartedly enjoyed the reading process of getting to know Eden, Beau and the characters surrounding them, as well as discovering how the romance would play out. A great start to the series, Falling Like Snowflakes will certainly please fans of contemporary romance - and leave them eager for more of Summer Harbor and the Callahan brothers.       A feel good romance that takes place in the Winter in Maine. Since it is very hot and muggy where I am right now, a trip to Maine in the Winter felt good to me. I always enjoy the way this author writes. The characters seem real to life, the romance is sweet and there is usually a strong family bond in each of her series. This series is about the Callahan brothers (and I will enjoy reading all 3 books about each of these men!).Eden Martelli is fleeing with her young son Jack, from those who are out to kill them and keep them from testifying in a trial that needs their testimony to put someone away in prison. She lands in rural Maine with a car that breaks down, followed by someone stealing her purse with all her money in it. She will find a job helping the Callahan's by taking care of their aunt while she recovers from surgery. Beau Callahan gives her the job, while he works on their Christmas tree farm, getting ready for the Christmas rush. Beau realizes that Eden is hiding from someone or something, but getting her to open up is not easy as Eden trusts no one. Watching these two work it out between them is endearing and sweet. Eden really lacks in the trust department, with good reason. But Beau is a patient and gentle soul and although it isn't easy, he has to let Eden make her own decisions. I loved the whole family dynamic in this story and can't wait to read the next two books in this series. It may be a little cold in Summer Harbor, but the story will warm up your heart.

      “Her own fear held her captive.”This is my second Denise Hunter read, and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her romances are so good, and so far there has been a little mystery thrown in to keep you interested. I loved how this one took a turn I was not expecting, and I cannot wait to read book two in the series.This is marked as Christian Fiction, but do not put off by that. She does use some Religion in her stories, but they are not overpowering or overdone in my opinion. I really want more people to give her work a chance. I am loving everything so far.
