Not quite on the angst shelf, but I did love the relationship! I adore this series and have really really been enjoying listening to them as audiobooks. Can't wait for Sin's book!!!

There are slight spoilers in this review. For some reason I kept putting off reading this book and I have no idea why. I've been reading this series since the beginning and Adam has always been a bit of an enigma. Always stepping in to save someone and had never explaining where he goes afterwards. Well, I guess now we know. Eliza, his lady love, was introduced as the American cousin as the Evernights. This story focused on the relationship between them though at times it was a hostile one. Adam needs Eliza to survive and stay king of the GIMs, while Eliza needs help escaping from the face. I really liked the progress of their relationship and the coming to terms with deciding what is more important in life, love or duty. There were a few things I didn't quite understand and maybe it's because I wasn't paying enough attention or it was in a earlier book. One such thing was why couldn't Adam come back from There more often and let Eliza live Here. Obviously he comes Here to make the GIMs and he stayed a few months when he kept Eliza captive. Couldn't be just divide his time between the two places? Still, I enjoyed it enough and I'm emotionally involved with the characters that I'm definitely going to read Sinjin's book. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy.allthingsuf.comA sexy mix of historical setting and paranormal romance, the Darkest London series doesn't skimp on magic or chemistry. SOULBOUND, at long last, explores the origins of the mysterious GIM and Adam, their king. While each Darkest London book focuses on a particular developing romance, the characters and plots are intertwined from book to book. For Adam and Eliza, pivot moments in their early relationship take place in EVERNIGHT (the one book in this series I haven't read). While new readers can catch up, SOULBOUND leaps from first meeting to established enmity, with only memories of why Eliza is so angry at Adam. With every reference to a past event, I became more and more interested in the story I have missed, not the present tense being told.My own continuity issues aside, the body of the book had no difficulty holding my attention. Adam was a rare and delightful confluence of tropes, a virgin Alpha, and his sexual focus alone was enough to keep me riveted. Plot wise, I never grew to care about anything other than Eliza and Adam's relationship, making the final conflicts rather lackluster. Overall, Adam was almost enough to carry SOULBOUND all on his own... but it would have been nice to see him get a little more help.Sexual Content: Sex scenes, threats of rape.

It is the old and historical form of the teller of the odd stories that are ancient and of mystery.
The facts of the narrator cannot be comprehended with the modern day or ancient past. The lovers and adventure of finding each other coupled with the ups and downs that each has to face to lived or without the love shared are almost uncertain. But the ending is such that is worth all the pain that all have to endure terrible things to find the one that is meant for each other!

Reviewed by: Rabid Reads.Kristen Callihan has been 5-for-5 with her DARKEST LONDON series, and I’ve been looking forward to Adam’s story most of all, so when the mailman delivered SOULBOUND the pressure was on. This installment brought with it plenty of new revelations with regards to the Fae, the King of the GIM’s curse, and we finally discover what was plaguing Archer in FIRELIGHT. The writing was as strong as ever, and the author made me weep with her romantic elements, but this book had a degree of predictability to it that the others didn’t which is why Callihan’s perfect rating streak must end here. This world is peppered with paranormal excellence from the mythology to the plethora of otherworldly characters; however only the Ghosts In The Machine have captured my interest to the point of obsession. Spooks are common enough in this genre, but this author’s approach is exceptional, bar none. Adam’s nature has been one of this series’ most closely guarded secrets, and is so intricately linked to the Fae that an examination of one will spoil the other, and both get cracked wide open in this novel, thus expect a deluge of answers, just not from me. Ha!As astounding as all of this book’s epiphanies were, they paled in comparison to the atypical conclusion. Callihan didn’t simply choose the path less traveled, she forged her own, and in doing so completely changed the definition of happily-ever-after. A common complaint of mine where ghost romances are concerned is that there aren’t any easy solutions to unite the couple, and the obvious fix is the one that no reader wants to face. I loved the direction that Adam & Eliza’s story took, although it was partially to blame for this installment’s foreseeable chain of events. Two of DARKEST LONDON’s previously featured heroines are GIM, so a coup on their King meant that this novel’s plot arc was widespread which had its benefits because the better part of this series’ characters got a word or two in. The mystery behind book 1 was solved at long last, and will in all probability carry over to the next title if Sin has anything to do with it, although I wouldn’t mind terribly if Lucien’s tale took precedence, especially after his recent admission. I guess the point I’m trying to make is that wherever this author goes from here, I will follow.SOULBOUND will make you believe in the impossible, there is love after death. ~4.5 stars

    RTC, maybe...

    Highlights for now.
-I didn’t have as many issues with this as anticipated
    -loved Adam and his backstory
-Eliza was compelling but didn’t have the presence of some of the better heroines in this series
-a lot going on, but not to detriment, though I would’ve like more between the main characters.
-4 stars. Not my favorite but not as weak as some of the reviews led me to expect. Also, I’m a fan girl so there is that.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Dark and imaginative story where death and curses are meant to be broken.Opening Sentence: She had always been attracted to death. The Review:Soulbound continues the fantastic Darkest London series by Kristen Callihan. As the sixth book in the series, the world is growing even more with the spirit world being added into the mix. I love this series as a whole but I think Soulbound is my least favorite book in the series. I still enjoyed the story, I think the only thing I was really disappointed in was the sacrifice that was required for this couple to be together in the end. The writer continues to inspire and amaze me with her words and the world.Adam started off on the wrong foot with Eliza May when he shackled her to his side. Eliza May was eventually freed. The events are described and played out in the previous book, Evernight. Soulbound continues Eliza May and Adam’s story. Soulbound does drop one really big clue about a past character that had me thinking how different his story would be if things had played out differently.Eliza May has been living with her Aunt Mab, the Fae Queen, for the past few months learning how to live as a fae and also getting to know her long lost family. She is beginning to tire of the lifestyle that Mab has been forcing on her when one day she hears the sound of an animal in pain. She discovers Adam hidden in a dungeon and in terrible shape. When she learns that Mab has been torturing him, she and Adam begin devising a plan to get him out of the house but it isn’t until Eliza is told that she has been promised to another that she finally puts that plan in action.Adam is a man cursed. When he finds Eliza and she matches his own soul he immediately captures her and forces her to stay by his side. She always wanted to be free of him so he was surprised when she agrees to get him out of Mab’s house. Adam is a bit shady and secretive so he does leave out quite a bit of what needs to happen between them in order to get him away from the house without anyone finding out.Eliza unwittingly finds herself tied to Adam again but this time she has free will and doesn’t seem to want to leave his side. Together Adam and Eliza must destroy the curse that binds Adam to Mab and find a way to restore the GIM back to their old selves. The GIM have slowly been dying since Adam’s power has been leeched away. Ghost in the Machine or GIM are basically immortal with their clockwork hearts but Adam created them and their lives are tied to his.Adam is an Alpha. He is used to getting his way no matter what. He has control over who lives and who dies. He does learn his lesson about how he treated Eliza May the first time around and vows not to mess it up this time. I think my only annoyance with Adam was that he didn’t seem that concerned with the GIM dying. He was more concerned about his relationship with Eliza. He didn’t even seem to care about getting his powers back. I did enjoy his back story though.Eliza has not had the best life. She was orphaned at a young age and forced to use her terrible powers. Then she was killed after coming to England to meet her family but given back life by Adam. Then Mab promises her to the evil man that forced her to use her powers. She is a tough woman. She has been dealt many hard blows but she always overcomes. Eliza is a very rare fae. It’s not hard to guess what she is but I won’t reveal it here. What I didn’t like was what she had to sacrifice in order to be with Adam in the end. Yes it was wrapped with a pretty bow but I just didn’t agree with it.Overall, Soulbound was still a fun and sensual read. She does a really good of conveying the attraction and the tension that these characters feel for each other. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series, Forevermore, to find out Sin’s back story and his evolving powers.Notable Scene:A soft, dark chuckle rumbled in his chest. “I was told,” he went on, “that when I found the other half of my soul, I’d feel again. In all ways.” Adam pushed off from the wall he’d been leaning against and took a step closer to her, careful, however, to hold her gaze, as though he did not want to frighten her off. “And I do.”Her mouth went dry.“I’ve nothing to lose now, lass. So when I say that my want of you was one of the reasons I knew I’d found you,”—slowly he reached out—“you can believe it.”The warm, rough tips of his fingers grazed her cheek. Eliza jerked back, stumbling on her skirts as she edged away from him.“Perhaps my attraction toward you is merely Mab’s magic, making you irresistible to all beings.”“You find me irresistible?” His husky, laughing question had her shooting a glare over her shoulder. With his smiling mouth and eyes brightened with glee, irresistible was definitely the word for him. Damn all.“Just so you know,” he said, “I find you quite fetching as well.”FTC Advisory: Forever/Hachette Book Group provided me with a copy of Soulbound. This is the sixth book in the Darkest London series and tells the story of Eliza May and Adam. I have never liked Adam as a character but I ended up enjoying this book. Callihan does an excellent job of making you sympathetic to Adam and tying the whole thing in with the overall story of the GIM.In the last book Eliza escaped her binding to Adam and was rescued by her fae aunt Mab. Eliza is living with the Fae and enjoying her time there but she is leery of the cruelty of the Fae. As Eliza unravels the secrets of the Fae she realizes she needs to leave court as soon as possible. When she finds Adam has been held prisoner and tortured there she decides to pair her flight with his rescue. They both need to figure out a way to work together or the fate of the GIM (ghosts in the machine) looks grim.I have always enjoyed the idea of the GIM (ghost of the machine); people who have died but whose souls are tied back to their bodies by a clockwork heart. This book deals with the origin of the GIM and we learn a lot more about how they came to be.We also learn a lot more about the Fae and spend more time in their court. The Fae have started featuring more and more in this series and I have really enjoyed that. Additionally, this book starts the story of Sin and Miss Layla Starling, which I assume will be the next couple featured in this series. The above being said this book is primarily a romance with some paranormal and steampunk elements. Eliza is Adam’s soul mate, but he forced her to stay with him initially by physcially binding her to him. Eliza only wants freedom. The two struggle with each other a bit; they are attracted to each other but Eliza resents (rightfully so) Adam’s past treatment of her. It’s a well done romance and the characters have excellent chemistry together.Overall this was a wonderful read. This is primarily a romance with some paranormal and steampunk elements; I don’t read a ton of romance but I really do enjoy this series. There is romance here, but there is also a really interesting world and storyline. I would definitely recommend to fans of paranormal or steampunk romance. This series reminds a lot of Bec McMaster’s Steampunk Londoner series; so I would recommend that series as well if you enjoy this kind of book.
