- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5After a series of nonstop adventures, Stone Barrington is eager for some peace and quiet in a rustic British setting. But no sooner does he land in England than he’s beset by an outrageous demand from a beautiful lady, and an offer he can’t refuse.Unfortunately, Stone quickly learns that his new acquisition comes with some undesired strings attached -- namely, a deadly mystery involving the complex relationships of the local gentry, and a relentless adversary who raises the stakes with every encounter. Stone’s restful country vacation is looking like yet another troublesome situation, but with his tireless aplomb -- and the help of a few friends -- he is more than up to the challenge.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Got off to rocky start, stone in England and bought country home. Son Peter and Ben joins him after they made a movie called hells bells, story about cult leader Calhoun who wants to kill Peter. Then it gets interesting. Stone back and forth between ny and England.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5After buying an English country home, things go downhill. Bad guy is a religious cult leader who harasses Stone and adds tension to the story. Dino takes even more vacation from his job as NY Police Commissioner but plays a small role. Current gal pal is a redecorator who does the usual things with Stone. Fun, brainless read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I always enjoy Stuart Woods. I could not put the book down.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Dreadful. The main character is unlikeable. The book is pompous. What made me think I would enjoy this?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really like the way Mr. Woods writes. His books flow easily, smoothly from one transition to the next. Rather ideal for easy listening in my car.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Another ridiculous Stone Barrington book. While in England he purchases a 10.5 million pound sterling estate, a Bentley and a Porsche all on the same day. The estate next to him goes on the market and he works a deal with a business partner to purchase it for his son’s movie company to keep it out of the hands of a religious cult leader who is intent on getting even with Stone. Stone manages to disable several attempts on his life by Doctor Dawn with the help of MI-5, MI-6, NY State Police, Immigration, and the FBI.
