About this audiobook

The New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled books returns with the third standalone romance in the Legal Briefs series, a collection of sexy novels about first crushes, second chances, and the final verdict of the heart.

When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate—and prized—parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Louboutins.

When Kennedy looks at Brent, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue–worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school in order to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell for her.

But she’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore—she’s a Washington, DC, prosecutor with a long winning streak. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case, and Kennedy thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out the way she planned. Brent has his sights set on Kennedy, and every fiery exchange only makes him want her more—and makes her wonder if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. In the end, they may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

After reading the first book of Legal Briefs, I was super eager to pick this one up!!! I had such a fun time with this one. What was most enjoyable was the bantering that these two engaged in. Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph once liked each other and more, but misunderstandings of the past drove them apart. Now they are facing opponets in a courtroom. But as they face off, the secrets of the past unravel and they learn the truth and learn to open up to each other and find love that was always beneath the surface. What an incredible romance that this one turned out to be. I liked it way more than book one. Even though there is some fun bantering with a bit of angst, it didn't have an "angst" feeling at all, and it didn't last very long. I liked seeing these two become honest with each other. It was simply delightful to see Brent court Kennedy, and the sweet and romantic things he does for her. We have quite a few heated smexy times too---and boy it gets hot enough to fog up the windows for sure.A heartwarming and sexy romance that you won't want to put down!!! SIMPLY FANTASTIC

Brent and Kennedy have a past together. Will Kennedy be able to get over the wrongs done to her or will she make him pay? Brent is a wonderful character. I love his wit and his charming self!! I fell in love with him in the first paragraph. Kennedy is a tough, hot chick with a soft side which comes out in the end. These two heat up the story and keep the reader very well entertained….in more ways than one!! I laughed and nearly fell off my chair in several places during this read. Brent has a personality like no other. He kept me in stitches. He also has a tender heart. These traits absolutely make his character irresistible. I am so hooked on this series. I have only read books in this series and I must expand. This author has several series I must investigate. I received this novel from Simon and Schuster as XOXPERT.

One sitting read!!! Brent was delightful, and though he may have come off as less mature in the other books, I felt he was really well done-motivations and character were well-developed to make for a delightful and quick read. I don't remember enjoying Chase's prose this much in general in previous books I've read of hers-but I felt like there were many lovely lines and fun references. It's late, and that's all I have to say for now-just a fun read!

So that was pretty great. I needed a palate cleanser, and I chose well. Brent is kind of an asshole at first, but he gets it together, he evolves, he admits he is wrong and knows that his desire to protect is a trap that diminishes the woman he is with. (Right there is the stuff of women's fantasies.) I like Kennedy, she is a little broken, but she is smart and strong. And its hot, red hot. Very hot. A lovely escape

(Synopsis from Amazon)Brent and Kennedy’s rocky road involves childhood boy/girl next door, friends to pseudo enemies to lovers, and second chances. There’s a lot of water under their bridge. APPEALED is busy, yet also touching without crossing into annoyingly mushy; because Brent tells their story. APPEALED is also a lot of fun, humorous, and sexy as all get out. This is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Ms. Chase. Was never a big fan of the hero telling the story until I discovered Tangled. Drew blew me away. As far as I'm concerned, Ms. Chase has cornered the market on male POV and solidified her place as my go to author for laugh-out-loud contemporaries in this style. Often, when I follow a series and/or authors, at some point the quote from an old TV show always comes to mind, “there are eight million stories in the naked city.” Unfortunately, in many cases the stories become “only the names have been changed” or the series devolves and loses my interest. So far so good, Ms. Chase. While Jake is a tough act to follow, Brent manages to hold his own. If you enjoyed Sustained and Overruled, APPEALED should please you as well.Reviewed for Novels Alive TV

4 "Opposing Counsel and 2nd Chances" Stars!Emma Chase is a wiz at writing romances involving strong, independent, intelligent heroines and the playboy heroes who they ultimately bring to their knees (Kate and Drew anyone?). Appealed brings back to the forefront this romantic plot line with an extra, 2nd chance at love twist. This of course means that readers will once again get to revel in plenty of witty banter as the heroine and hero fight that inevitable dance towards their HEA. As always, reading an Emma Chase romance is effortless, and immensely entertaining, as the pages practically turn themselves! When Brent Mason (a partner at the law firm that Stanton and Sofia, from book 1 of the Legal Briefs Series, and Jake, from book 2, are partners at) lays eyes on Kennedy Randolph again, after many years apart, he knows one thing: Kennedy is not the same girl who grew up next door and was his best friend. Gone is the awkward but smart, nice girl who captured his attention all those years ago. In her place is a sexy and confident, if somewhat of a ballbreaker, tough as nails prosecutor and she has her eyes set on making Brent pay. For what, Brent cannot be totally sure, but the one thing he does know, is that he definitely wants to make Kennedy his. Having previously faced incredible challenges, like overcoming an accident in which he lost his leg as a child, he is a man who is not accustomed to hearing no, or being deterred from working hard for the things he wants, and conquering Kennedy will be no different, or will it?Further adding fuel to the fire that will either envelope Brent and Kennedy and guarantee their union or completely destroy them is an all star cast, that includes one very meddlesome mother, who happens to be best friends with the mother of the other, a politician who has his eyes set on the picture perfect political mate, and an insightful therapist among others. This interesting secondary cast of characters, in addition to cameos from the characters of the prior books in the Legal Briefs Series, further round out this story ensuring that there is a little bit of something for everyone.I can't wait to read more of Emma Chase's witty romantic comedies in the future!
