About this audiobook
"I see holes like eyes. My mind is full of them."
For all intents and purposes, police officer Collie Entragian, chief law enforcement for the small mining town of Desperation, Nevada, appears to be completely insane. He's taken to stopping vehicles along the desolate Interstate 50 and abducting unwary travelers with various unusual ploys. There's something very wrong here in Desperation...and Officer Entragian is only at the surface of it. The secrets embedded in Desperation's landscape, and the horrifying evil that infects the town like some viral hot zone, are both awesome and terrifying. But one of Entragian's victims, young David Carver, seems to know—and it scares him nearly to death to realize this truth—that the forces being summoned to combat this frightful, maniacal aberration are of equal and opposite intensity...

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great story and a surprisingly decent read by the author. But i still believe King should leave the reading to professionals. Stick to what he knows best.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I read this book years ago. So I listened to it again. As always Stephen King has given me hours of entertainment. I canceled cable. With ascribe I can be entertained while attempting to do chores. I’m disabled and this subscription allows me to keep my brain active and gives my eyes a break. I wish I had this years ago!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another solid book by the king. I should have read this then the regulators m
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Read this one about 10 years ago and wanted to revisit it through audio. Classic Stephen King. Decent story and characters. Glad I enjoyed it again .
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of King’s many, many classics and definitely one of my favourites. “Read by the author” makes it even better, I like listening to the master himself.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was absolutely wonderful. It was disgustingly wonderfully suspenseful.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Have loved Stephen king since a teen. Read many of his books, love his writing but this one, not so much!!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Long but worth it! It gives you things to think about while be entertaining you and a little scary and thrilling. It’s S. King; what else do you need to know❗?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A decent re-imagining of a "shadow over Innsmouth" kind of story. Good characters, good pace
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It’s too much ancient/ medieval .It could have been more realistic
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Not one of Stephen King’s most famous novels its still very good and narrating his own work really brings it alive.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the best books written by Stephen king I’ve ever read
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a great listen! I would recommend to anyone
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book was great because of Stephen King's way of drawing characters that I could see in my mind, care about, and believe they could be real. Everyone who thinks they want to write a novel should first read a dozen of King's books and then think again. Stephen King's "horror stories" usually make me cry because of the life-like people with whom he populates them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s a bit weird and nothing I would normally pick but I loved the ending and not the way I would have thought Steven King would have written.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Superb detailed descriptions! Keeps my attention! Love these books! Awesome!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This one was too gory for my taste, but there is no one who delivers such developed characters, tension, and story. I really enjoy the quirks his characters have and the interplay between them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Steven King’s narrations of his own books. He’s not the most polished, nor even the most professional. But? At least regarding his own stuff, he’s the most fun to listen to.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is my second read of desperation by Stephen King. I can say this book is enjoyable and pretty unpredictable with religious undertones. One thing I don't quite enjoy is how much of the storyline depends on a young boy who basically has lost everything. That makes it tough to care about the outcome of the book. You're left wanting for hope and not quite getting that at the end.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It kind of left me silent. Every time I thought I saw the point I realized I didn’t. The concept of good and evil God and SatanAre very confusing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Stephen King wrote another great book again. Tack ... .
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5There were a lot of scenes that were a little too grotesque for me. I thought the audiobook should have had a professional reader. I don’t think the author should have read the book. I usually get absorbed in a Stephen King story. This book just did not catch my interest although I did manage to listen to the very end.
