About this audiobook

Due to her parents’ promise at her birth, Lady Rosemarie has been prepared to become a nun on the day she turns eighteen. Then, shortly before her birthday, a friend of her father’s enters the kingdom and proclaims her parents’ will left a second choice—if Rosemarie can marry before the eve of her eighteenth year, she will be exempt from the ancient vow.

Before long, Rosemarie is presented with the three most handsome and brave knights in the land. But when the knights’ arrival results in a series of attacks within her land, she begins to wonder if the convent is the best place after all. If only one of the knights—the one who appears the most guilty—had not already captured her heart.

I liked the story but not my favorite Jody Hedlund reader.

Less sweet and a little more action-packed than some of her other novels. Mild elements of torture, so if you're sensitive to that, this is not the book for you.

Mostly I liked the story, but the beginning was pretty predictable and unthrilling. There are three "love interests," but the way they are presented gives little room for mystery, while still distracting from the desirability of the main hero.

I'm interested enough to read the next book in the series. If the main character in the next book is to be one of the offcasts from this novel, he will need to undergo quite a bit of character development to be more appealing. The author has shown proficiency in her ability to do so in others of her works I've read, so I'm still feeling hopeful, despite this one not having fully met my expectations.
