About this audiobook
In this thrilling novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series, Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds herself in the middle of a conspiracy when she investigates the disappearance of a former U.S. Senator.
Just as Dennis Mira is about to confront his cousin Edward about selling the West Village brownstone that belonged to their grandfather, he gets a shock: Edward is in front of him, bruised and bloody…and then everything goes black.
When Dennis comes to, Edward is gone. Luckily Dennis’s wife is a top profiler for the NYPSD—and a close colleague of Lieutenant Eve Dallas. Now Eve is determined to uncover the secrets of Edward Mira and learn what enemies he may have made in his long career as a lawyer, judge, and senator. A badge and a billionaire husband can get you access to places others can’t go, and Eve intends to shine some light on the dirty deals and dark motives behind the disappearance of a powerful man, the family discord over a multimillion-dollar piece of real estate…and a new case that no one saw coming.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Reading this book was a struggle for me and the experience of this groups of women as the case maybe was coming across this men in the university where they all were have their life changed for the worse. The event that happened has great ramifications that destroyed all that could have been. But they took the duties of judge, jury, and executiobal.
Payment back the wrong done led to the killings of the those men who has done them bad. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lieutenant Eve Dallas has plans for spaghetti and meatballs and a quiet evening at home with Roarke, but a flustered Charlotte Mira interrupts with a plea for Eve’s help. Dennis, she says, found his cousin, retired senator Edward Mira, injured. But now he’s disappeared and Dennis is asking for Eve’s help. Thus Eve is thrust into a case that will bring the past roaring back and when the case takes an unexpected turn, Eve, Peabody, and company will find themselves in a race against time . . . and death. This, the forty-second book in the popular In Death series, doesn’t disappoint. Populated with the expected characters, the suspenseful, action-packed story offers a hefty dose of intrigue. Though dark, the twisting plot draws the reader in and, as the action ramps up, keeps the pages turning. Fans of the series will find much to enjoy in Eve’s latest outing.Highly recommended.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Damn that was good. Professor Dennis Mira is one of my favorite characters and I was delighted the book began from his perspective. We get to know the Mira’s a little better. The case itself is one of brutal revenge that hits Eve Dallas right in the feels.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Mr. Mira is attacked and his cousin is abducted. Dr. Mira immediately contacts Eve to come to his assistance. As always Eve will protect those she loves. J.D. Robb adds to the character of Mr. Mira and shows how all who have come in contact with him love him. Eve sets out to exonerate his connection with the crime and find the murderer(s)? This series never grows tired or worn out. Once again I hated to put it down until I finished.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Excellent installment in the In Death series. The mystery wasn't so much who done it but more about the whys and wherefore. The novel built suspense and as usual with Robb novels, it was hard to put down once I got started. I also like that I learned more about Dennis Mira.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Yet another fantastic book in the series. If you haven't read them in order from 1 to must be about 50 then re read then in order, they are set so close together the thread of storylines is so clever with reoccurring characters popping up when least expected but never shoehorned into stories for the sake of it. I have problems which means reading anpage of script is difficult for me, after years of not reading I found audiobooks. Some are OK to listen to but some are excellent, the characterisation which is displayed in this series is great and the continuity of knowing what the characters are going to sound like when you start a new book is comforting. My Mam has read the series and has heard parts of the audiobooks and was able to immediately recognise who the characters were and felt that they fit in with the images she had made in her head, especially Peabody. I really reccomend the whole series of books, I am feeling very disappointed as I only have 7 left to read, my Mam who finished the series a few months ago is really looking forward to the new release due in about a months time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This one was tough on Eve,and to the readers.my heart broke as eve explained to
Peabody how she got them - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The enjoyment is in watching Eve Dallas as she methodically solves the crime. She has an incredible ability to know how far and when to make her moves.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Decent Eve Dallas futuristic story. Lt. Dallas' friend, Dennis Mira is distraught because his cousin Edward is planning on selling their grandfather's estate surreptitiously. When he goes to confront him, he encounters his cousin Edward tied up and scared right before blacking out from a blow to his head. Eve is called in to figure out what is going on and why Edward is missing. What unfolds is a tale of sex and depravity and revenge worth reading.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a good one because it gives us insight into the life of Dennis Mira. Robb seemed to recycle most of this plot a few books later in Vendetta in Death, and it is much more well done here.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another Must Road!!Eve is growing her family!Loved MR Mira playing afront and center role. Can never go Wrong with q readin this series
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This time the murder victim is related to one of Roarke and Eve’s friends Eve is on the case before the body is even found. Eve has a soft spot for Mr. Mira and admires Doctor Mira so she does everything she can to find who killed Dennis’ cousin. There is another murder and it becomes apparent that these are vengeance killings and there will be more unless Eve and Peabody can stop it. A good solid book and now I have to wait until Fall for the next one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Yet another wonderful addition to Robb's In Death series. Eve, a lieutenant in the future, finds herself investigating another case that strikes too close to her own trauma. Yet, she does the job with the help of her amazing support system.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Back to form. One of Robb's formulaic bests.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Hi tech resources and tough minded cop, abetted by excellent and interesting supporting characters make this an excellent series. First one, after a long hiatus, and difficult not to finish in a single read. Historic and long standing villains are being hoist on their own petard after it has been suitably heated by female vigilantes.
