About this audiobook

Read the second book in the reader favorite Stars of Mithra trilogy from #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts!

Bounty hunter Jack Dakota knows how to handle himself, or at least so he thought. The moment he went to pick up the pretty little bail jumper M.J. O’Leary, he discovered there was nothing easy about the spitfire—or about this case. Someone had set them both up. Now they’re handcuffed together and on the run from a pair of hired killers. M.J. isn’t talking about why the men are after her—not even when Jack finds a gigantic blue diamond hidden in her purse. Everything tells Jack this alluring vixen can’t be trusted…everything, that is, except his captive heart.

This was a fast read. Well-written as all of Nora Roberts books are and it has some interesting characters but it was pretty unsophisticated compared to her later writings. I'm undecided about whether I'm going to read the other books in the trilogy. They're the kind of books that I might have read before and not remembered. I do admit that I'm pretty sure that I have not read Captive Star before.

Sent on a seemingly routine bail jumper case, bounty hunter Jack Dakota is furious to learn the job is a set-up. With hired thugs on their trail, Jack and his spitfire target, M. J. O’Leary must learn to trust one another if they are to survive.

Far more memorable than the first book in the trilogy as Jack and M.J.’s love/hate relationship and witty banter are particularly entertaining.

    M. J. is in full possession of all the feistiness and life that is missing from Bailey’s character. Her snarky sarcasm is the perfect match for Jack’s flippant cynicism and when the two get together sparks fly.

One again, the suspense plot is minor and the focus is on Jack and M.J.’s romance. That said, there are some developments in this area and M.J. and Bailey’s reunion is sweet.

Looking forward to the final installment in the trilogy.
