An instant New York Times bestseller, The Woman in Cabin 10 is a gripping psychological thriller set at sea from an essential mystery writer in the tradition of Agatha Christie.
In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong…
With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10—one that will leave even the most sure-footed reader restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.
Editor's Note
Modern classic whodunit…
The intensely intimate setting (a luxury cruise ship) ratchets up the fear and paranoia when things go awry. It’s impossible to escape the allure of this modern twist on classic Agatha Christie murder mysteries.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I wanted to read this one because I read In a Dark, Dark Wood, and while I figured out the twist quite quickly, something about the writing style hooked me. I liked this book a lot because it was very suspenseful, but I have to say - I am SO TIRED of the female protagonists being portrayed as unreliable narrators. I feel like every other adult book I read has a woman one antidepressants or with a drinking history and she is always discredited for being unreliable. I really hope that trend ends and we get some quality female protagonists with other problems.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Disappointing read for me, especially since I liked Ruth Ware's first book, In a The Dark, Dark Wood. The Woman in Cabin 10 is about Lo Blackman, she is robbed before going on a small cruise for her job, so she is a little on edge when the woman in the cabin next to her (cabin 10....) goes missing, but everyone is telling her that room was empty and everyone is accounted for. It sounds interesting even though this has been done so many times before, but what made it boring was that Lo's investigating serves no point to the story and the ending is pretty anticlimactic. There are also a lot of loose ends and the ending doesn't feel like a ending because you are left with so many questions.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was very happily surprised by how much I loved this book!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Never knew where the story was going. It started out very ordinary and expected. Narrator was excellent.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book not as slow as i saw reviewed maybe a bit but not bad. I couldn't put it down on day 2 stayed up late to finish it. had to know what happened.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Aside from the fact that this has to be one of the whiniest main characters I've ever come across, I really did enjoy this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5a sort of mix between a thriller and a whodunnit. a bit intense as both genre can be, but we'll worth reading.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It took me a little while to get used to the narrator's accent, but once I did I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with twists and turns and I definitely look forward to reading more work by this author!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Lo Blacklock is a writer for a travel magazine and is about to get her opportunity to go on a luxury cruise and review it. Before she leaves, her apartment is burgled while she is home and she is completely freaked by the experience. Not wanting to miss the career opportunity that the cruise presents, she arrives to find a small, but ornate ship with just ten passenger cabins. One cabin (10) is supposed to be empty, but Lo sees a young woman there. And then things begin to get complicated. Written in an interesting style, I did not see the ending coming! Overall, I enjoyed the book and was greatly intrigued by it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I thoroughly enjoyed The Woman in Cabin 10. Constantly kept me glued to the pages, and the characters were so fun! Great suspense novel.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5very suspenseful! I do recommend this book Happy Reading :)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was a good book but to be honest I don’t care for the unreliable narrator trope but it was worth it for the ending.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A bit drawn out. Didn't love the main character and it took so long to wrap up the ending, which was pretty obvious...
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The first half of the book was great and moved right along, keeping me curious and trying to puzzle out the mystery. Then about two thirds of the way in, as soon as the big secret is revealed, the story began to really drag, and I could not wait for it to be over. It began to feel like torture, to be honest.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Intriguing story line. Hard to tell what the issues are. I had a bit of difficulty in deciding what the story was about. The author did a nice job tying it all together.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the second Ruth Ware book I've listened to and although not as good as the first, it was still an engaging story. I've noticed that Ware seems to have a specific formula to her writings - a group of people in an isolated situation with a narrator who can't figure out whether something is really going on or if it's all just in their head. Which, honestly, she nails the suspicious characters and tense atmosphere every time. I'm totally engaged right up until the climax... and then, POOF! I feel totally let down. It's like watching fireworks on the 4th of July with no grand finale. Still, it won't keep me from reading everything else she writes because she is really really good with the rest of the set up. Especially when Imogen Church narrates. Then it becomes a whole 'nother ball game. Church is somewhat of a phenom, in my opinion.
So I'll keep reading/listening because the overall package, though far from perfect, is still pretty damn good. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This audiobook recording is glitchy and out of order. In the middle of the book, it's obvious the files got switched and we jump ahead either a few pages or even a chapter? With the glitches, I could not bring myself to finish this story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Pleasantly surprised at the interesting plot, enough action and mystery to keep me interested until the end. Wrapped up nicely too.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I did not expect to love this. I was not having any expectation because most famous books are not that good. But this one healed my reading slump!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really in depth story line. Kept me guessing about the scenario until nearly the end. It is tough to find unique books, but this was one of those that I couldn't press pause!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was just okay. If you can get past the stupidity of the woman and your big ideas of being wowed by the ending your going to enjoy the book but its not shocking or life changing. Its good to keep in mind if you ever get into trouble.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I did get tired of the main character's whining, for lack of better terms. Still a good listen.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved the story and the reader was great! My only complaint was the constant references to the protagonist having a headache.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the genuine story. The heroine? Not so much. So much complaining and really bad decisions. The narrator or is amazing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Honestly there were times that I was yelling at the characters. Couldn't quit listening. Didn't get anything done, because I had to know what was going to happen.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyed this one and I am so glad I opted for the audiobook. Imogen Church is absolutely outstanding. Ruth Ware, however, tends to leave me wanting more. I’ll admit I ruminate on her endings for days, sometimes weeks with sprinkled thoughts about what really happened. I suppose that’s the frustratingly great thing about her style.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The storyline was good but it was so drawn out.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I like the suspense but I did get a little bored about 3/4 through. I'm glad I finished but the ending kind of left me wanting more. Overall I would probably revisit this book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53.5 ⭐️ for me. Good solid mystery. Didn’t love our heroine.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it! This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I will read her others now too.
