About this audiobook

In his 1996 #1 New York Times bestseller We're Right, They're Wrong, political strategist James Carville eviscerated the Republican economic agenda and debunked many of the GOP's ludicrous positions on national issues such as health care, welfare, tax reform, and economic growth.

Now, twenty years after the book's publication, Carville acknowledges that not much has changed. In fact, he maintains that it was the Democratic policies enacted by Presidents Clinton and Obama that salvaged America's financial well-being during the last two decades, saving us from a collapse that George W. Bush and the Republican Congressional majorities inspired.

In We're Still Right, They're Still Wrong, Carville analyzes how the Republican party has ultimately failed to deliver on its promises and how Donald J. Trump--the party's likely nominee in the 2016 presidential election--is the embodiment of that failure--and worse. Make no mistake, says Carville: Trump's ascendance is no accident, but a revealing sign that the GOP is intellectually bankrupt and on the wrong side of today's critical issues, including economic inequality and global warming. Written with Carville's trademark sarcasm, folksiness, wit, and downhome common sense, We're Still Right, They're Still Wrong is a timely guide for voters, politicians, and journalists trying to make sense of our country's most divisive and contentious election of the century.

Very interesting and informative book. This book really shows how the Democrats really have done a lot for the majority of this country while in office while the Republicans worry about the super rich and try to make people believe that lowering taxes and giving breaks to the super rich will help the middle class. It doesn't. Fact: "In seven years under President Obama, the U.S. has added an average of 107,000 jobs per month. Under President Clinton, the economy added 240,000 jobs a month. Under George W. Bush, it was only 13,000." I forgot some of the things that have happened in the past and James helped remind me.

More interesting information that people tend to forget: Newt Gingrich called for Clinton's impeachment because of the sex scandal. The entire time Newt was cheating on his wife. Congressmen Henry Hyde (R-IL) and Bob Livingston both called for Clinton's impeachment even though both had carried on affairs of their own. And Kenneth Starr, the independent prosecutor who investigated President Clinton's sex life was recently ousted from his new job as the head of Baylor University because he'd been looking the other way while members of Baylor's football team were reported for sexual assault.

As I see it, the GOP is really good about smoke and mirrors. This book really gives you food for thought during this crazy election year where we have a guy who should never have ran for president and is now so close to being in the White House where he could really F up this country.
