About this audiobook

When one of the notorious Johnson brothers is murdered and a bag of money goes missing, a deadly game of cat and mouse is set in motion.

DS Allie Shenton and her team are called in to catch the killer, but the suspects are double-crossing each other and Allie has little time to untangle the web of lies.

As she delves deeper into the case, things take a personal turn when Allie realises she is being stalked by the very same person who attacked her sister seventeen years ago and left her for dead.

Set over forty-eight tension-filled hours, Only the Brave is the latest gut-churning police procedural from acclaimed author Mel Sherratt.

This is the third book in this series and I definitely will go back and read the other two. I enjoyed the book as a standalone, but there were references made that I think will be sorted out in the first two books in the series.
There are two threads in this story. The first is the murder of Jordan Johnson. He is involved with organized crime and there is a lot of double crossing going on. Leah, a tenant in the building where he is murdered, stumbles upon his body and finds a bag of money nearby. She takes it with plans of keeping it, until she sobers up. The others involved in the murder are a thoroughly unlikable bunch and I could not wait until they all got what they deserved. Allie Shenton is investigating the crime as well as dealing with the impending death of her sister which really brings out her human side.
The second thread is the stalking of Allie by the man who assaulted her sister 17 years ago and put her in a coma. This is one of the reasons I need to go back and read the other two books.
I really liked how she developed the story using all the other characters and not just from DI Shenton's point of view which is what many authors do. A very enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Only The BraveBy: Mel SherrattPublished by Thomas & MercerPages. 342 May 2015Reviewed By: doseofbellaA beating gone wrong…When Jordan Johnson is are murdered…everyone is a suspect!I found the writing to role smoothly along, but I also found the story to only be middle of the road interesting. The plot was a bit weak in my opinion. I was looking for a bit more suspense and it just wasn’t there. I would recommend reading the first two novels featuring Allie. Many references were made in regards to them, which made this a difficult stand alone. I had a hard time relating to the various characters, and couldn’t seem to bond with any of them. That being said… I regret not being able to post a higher rating. 2/5
