      Loved this story. Don't read the review below though because it gives away too much of the story and you want to be able to read this learning about Aimee's life as she moves through her journey. It is well worth the read. I started the book at 10:00 one night & didn't want to put it down. As soon as I woke up the next morning I finished the book. It was that good and kept me intrigued throughout.

      I obtained this book as a Kindle First download. I have not had much luck with these Kindle First selections, and unfortunately, this book was no exception. The premise sounded like an interesting mystery, a woman is burying her fiance' on what was supposed to be her wedding day, but she receives information that he may still be alive. I found the first half of this book to be extremely slow moving. The second half finally gets around to the mystery, but the story falls down by relying on extremely implausible and far-fetched plot devices, along with an unsatisfying ending that seemed to be included to set up a sequel.

      This book is one that I will be adding to the “Have to Buy” list. You know those books that grab you after you start reading, because they start you questioning “Huh?” and “What?”? Then, after some more chapters, you go to the “Why?” and “How?” questions. Then, you get to the “What if…?” questions. Yeah, this book does that. It grabs you, and doesn’t let go. The twists and turns thrown at you make it impossible to do anything else but read. You end up reading straight through; staying up way later than you should, because you want to get to the end just so you can get the answers to all your questions. And that is when you know you’ve read a really good book. But what made this a Great Book is the “after I was done”, when I went and Googled subjects that came up in the book.       This is very mysterious. I wasn't actually sure what happened to James for the longest. Ian was my favorite because he was just so understanding and good, not that others weren't, he just stood out. If you're going to read this, don't read any spoilers. Even though you might figure some things out ahead of time, it's better to not know for sure to enjoy the ride.

      I really enjoyed getting to know the characters in this story! Aimee’s fiancé, James, dies in a freak accident. A mysterious woman tells her that he’s still alive in Mexico. Should she believe it and try to learn more, or let him go and move on with her life? There were a few things that happened that seemed a little unbelievable or out of character, but I enjoyed the ride and can’t wait to read the sequel to continue the story!

I read ‘Everything We Left Behind’ first. After reading ‘Everything We Keep’ I now have a better understanding of James and his relationships with his family and Aimee. What an extremely dysfunctional family as they lie to Aimee and cover up and hide everything from her. She begins to feel that something strange is going on after she is approached after the funeral by Lacy and the pictures are missing. Will Aimee be able to move on with her life after her trip to Mexico where she has to face the devastating truth? Kerry Lonsdale is a true storyteller and an amazing writer. ‘Everything We Keep’ is well written with an amazing plot and well developed characters. This book is well worth the read and I hope to read more from Kerry Lonsdale in the future.

      Three and a half star rating.On the day Aimee is meant to be getting married, she is at a funeral - her fiancés. Various things happen to make her wonder what really happened but instead of reacting instantly, she sits and ponders, starts a new cafe, meets other people. This makes her quite annoying and so are her interfering friends. There’s a lot of pathos and loss especially at the start when the funeral is being held in the church she should have been married in. Loved the idea of this story which was engaging and also loved the ending too. It’s an appetite whetter for other books by this author

      When I picked up Everything We Keep by Kerri Lonsdale I expected a story about love and loss, grief, and trying to move on. But I got so much more than that. Everything We Keep turned out to be a love story wrapped in a mystery with non-stop action and suspense; I couldn’t put it down.Aimee is stuck in time. Even though James is dead and what was to be their wedding day is now his funeral day, he doesn’t feel gone to her and she can’t let go. When a mysterious woman approaches her at the funeral and tells her James is still alive, she has to know if this is true, and if so, how he could ever have left her.This book is amazing. It’s the first time I’ve ever found myself switching my allegiance from one man to another back and forth so many times. James is whom she thought she’d be with forever, but she is so drawn to Ian. I wanted her to find James alive and well, safe and sound, and pick up her happily ever after, but at the same time Ian felt so very right that I couldn’t bear the thought of her not being with him.This book makes you like Aimee, be angry with her, think she’s incredibly brave, and that’s she’s making some very foolish decisions and is in danger of losing everything – her past and her future.You won’t guess the ending or see the epilogue coming, and while this is one of the most unusual premises I’ve come across, it works and leads to a very satisfying conclusion. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read Everything We Keep. Kerri Lonsdale is now on my Favorite Authors list and I eagerly await her next book.

That's a novelty, but by writing the story that way Longsdale is able to really make us know and understand the characters and their families and their motivations. It works well. Her character development is really good. I loved Aimee and James and want them to have a happy life, just like they had dreamed about. They deserve it!I was surprised by the ending but really liked it. It was the right ending for this book. This was a Kindle First book, I received free from Amazon.

      I found this book to be somewhere between OK and good. I was interested enough to finish, and I will try to follow up with the sequel (as long as it doesn't become to hokey or unbelievable). There were parts of this story that I enjoyed quite a bit, but I also thought that some of it was frustratingly hard to believe.My favorite part of the book was the first half before Amiee (cute or irritating spelling?) heads off from her new business to chase down James in Mexico. Prior to that, I felt sorry for Amiee having to bury her fiance on the day that was supposed to be their wedding day, and yet I was encouraged by her independence and talent in making a go of her dream of opening a special coffee shop/eatery. Her interactions with Ian felt reasonably believable for the circumstances, yet there was the hope of future involvement outside of just friendship.The trip to Mexico brought about by the continued prompting of information from the mystery psychic advisor, began the real problem part of the book for me. There were so many coincidences and tidy explanations that didn't really make sense or even seem reasonable. The ending left loose ends, and the epilogue in my ebook edition is actually the first chapter of the sequel book. It sounds like the problems that were conveniently wrapped up are coming back to haunt us in the next book. I'm willing to give it one more try, but won't put up with a rerun in an attempt to recreate mystery or suspense.I thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

      I savored this book until the very end. That was when I started to savor the next book in this series. Thankfully, I already a copy of it and was to imbibe that book and conquer my excitement.This was a very touching story. A woman who's fiance goes missing two months before the wedding while on an unexpected rushed trip to Mexico. The book opens with Aimee, a sous chef at her parent's restaurant, attending her fiance's funeral on her wedding day. The funeral is at the same church, with the same flowers and mostly the same people. A total heartbreak scene that will gain your sympathy for sure. After the funeral, she is accosted by a stranger who tells her that James, her fiance, is till alive.The book goes back and forth as to whether James is still alive. The blurb leaves you hanging, so I will also. I can say that I was mesmerized by the story and haunted. There were a few times when I thought Aimee might have went a little too far, but it didn't stop me from reading this book.A very mesmerizing read that kept me very interested and entertained.       Aimee’s future just came to a halt. Instead of getting married she is attending the funeral of her fiancé, on the same day she is supposed to get married. But, as she is leaving the funeral, someone tells her that James is still alive. Who would do this to her? And why?? Aimee was a bit of a struggle for me. I did not have the expected connection with her. She was more of a blah character. She also did not act the way many people would have in her situation. Aimee has been told by a psychic her fiancé is alive. She receives several major hints and clues. But, she waits 17 months to try and search for James. I understand it is a psychic which tells her about James. But she receives several great clues but does not pursue. It is not really clear in the book why she waits so long. I know it sounds like I did not like this story. Oh….but I did!! This is only a minor set back in this tale. There are still many great qualities to this book. I was completely caught up in the mystery of James’ disappearance and kudos to the author for several unexpected plot twists and turns. This really kept me reading and enjoying till the very last page! And guess what!! There is another book in this series!! To be continued……I received this book from Netgalley for a honest review.

      I'm surprised at the glowing reviews. What I could get through I found to be trite, sophomoric, and pedestrian. It felt more geared toward a high school-aged readership than adults.

      James and Aimee have been friends for most of thier lives and finally decide to get married. Tragedy strikes, and Aimee is left alone. I truly enjoyed this book for the first half, but at some point, problems crept in. Oddly enough, the language took a nose dive, and suddenly the "f" bomb was being dropped in most conversations. It was odd since the characters didn't do that at the beginning. In fact, when I first started reading this, I thought it might be Christian fiction. The sex scene seemed out of place too, like it was just stuck in because someone said it should be there. Secrets are revealed in the end that explains some things, but I did not care for the ending at all. I almost felt like two different people wrote this book.

      Instead of a wedding, the bride, family and friends attend a funeral. The bride, Aimee, should have been marrying James. Instead, it's a day of a final goodbye. This is the beginning of "Everything We Keep" by Kerry Lonsdale. Then, a psychic says he's not dead. What? Where is he? How could this happen? Then. Aimee goes to Mexico.This isn't a Thriller. I guess it's a Psychological Drama. Because as each page is read there is some psychosis until ultimately we're in the middle of a conspiracy. Kerry Lonsdale doesn't write this complicated novel in a way that's hard to understand. She writes "Everything We Keep" in a simple fashion. This doesn't play down the importance of decisions. It's like the significant words written in another book. There is a time to hold on and a time to let go. In this instance, it's James's reality in the world of Art.I liked the psychological side of the novel and the setting. For some reason, the Mexican setting brought to mind cold cases from real newspapers about missing persons while traveling abroad. Missing versus death, death versus missing and when or should families and loved ones ever give up hope are just some of the thoughts that crossed my mind. It's a novel about family, romantic love, memories and yes, cruelty.

      Instead of Aimee getting married to her childhood sweetheart, she's at his funeral. While fleeing the funeral Aimee runs into Lacy who tells her she has information about James and that he is still alive. Besides losing James, Aimee is dealing with not having a job after her parents sell their restaurant. Then Ian walks into Aimee's life and she starts having some lustful feelings, but James is always in the back of her mind, plus she is still wearing his engagement ring. Aimee begins putting her life back together. She buys a restaurant and hires Ian, but in the back of her mind she knows that James is still alive. Of course her friends and family think she is crazy. She embarks on a trip to Mexico to see if she can find the truth about when James went missing and what really happened to him. So naturally Ian joins her. Aimee discovers a man who resembles James and has the same painting skills. But he has no memory of Aimee and claims to be Carlos. I really enjoyed this book and may have shed a tear or two at the end when Aimee goes home and truly knows what happened to James. Throughout the book you get flashbacks of James and Aimee's life. You learn about James' very crazy/dysfunctional family and the secrets that were kept hidden. I really hope there's a sequel, especially with the ending!!!!Thanks to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing and the author for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

      This book has great characters that I grew to like. There is only one character I wish I knew more about. The story starts off in a way that will not allow you to put the book down for sure! I followed and felt everything that happened along the way. I questioned and thought I had it figured out, and then questioned some more. Most of my questions were answered and all in all, I enjoyed the book. Some things are still sticking with me and I have picked it up a few times to check on those things. Well worth the read if you like love stories, thrillers, mysteries, or any and all!

      Imagine your life is unfolding exactly as you planned and then one single event changes everything. That's what happens to Aimee, who must struggle to reconstruct her life. I was thoroughly swept up in the book and the characters. I felt joy and sadness and butterflies throughout the book.

      Every now and again there's a story in the news about a man or woman burying a fiance instead of marrying them. These stories are gut-wrenchingly sad and the reader has to wonder how someone goes on after such a loss. How do you build a new life from the ashes? Can you find love again? Do you even want to? Kerry Lonsdale's new novel, Everything We Keep, tackles some of these hard questions in a story of loss, love, mystery, and healing.Aimee is sitting at her fiance James' funeral on the day they should have been getting married. Gutted by the death of the man she met at the age of twelve and had loved for nearly that long, she can't begin to imagine a life without him. And when a stranger approaches her at the funeral to tell her that James is alive, that he did not disappear and drown on his fishing trip in Mexico, she can't help but wonder what the truth is. Already reeling from the blow of James' death, Aimee receives further bad news when her parents tell her they've had to sell the restaurant where she is the sous chef. Suddenly nothing in her life is as she expected it to be and she must create an entirely new life of her own on her own. Even as she holds onto her memories of her life with James, she finds the courage to open a coffee shop cafe. But to start to think about Ian, an amazing photographer, as more than a friend, even if she is attracted to him, is a bridge too far. Plus there's the niggling idea, fed by a painting on a postcard from a Mexican art gallery, that James could still be alive. Aimee has to decide whether to finally move forward or to keep holding onto the past.It is hard not to feel sorry for Aimee. She's lost so much. Her grieving is very definitely stuck at the denial stage and Lonsdale has done a nice job showing that while she's outwardly moving on, she is unable to do so emotionally. The first person narration allows the reader to feel alongside Aimee and to understand her reasoning when she has to make difficult decisions. We can feel her indecision about what comes next. The flashbacks to her pre-teen and teen years flesh out her relationship with James so it is clear not only the depth of what she's lost but also the things that she has never understood, especially about the Donato family, despite her long closeness with James. This first person perspective highlights some inconsistencies though, chief among which is Aimee's lack of urgency in following up on her gut feeling about James being alive. The novel's pacing is somewhat uneven, beginning very slowly as Aimee works through her grief but then with the final third of the book offering up all of the action and the answers that Aimee has been searching for. Some of these answers introduce pretty big, troubling, heretofore unexplored bombshells. Problems aside, the novel is a quick and easy read and will keep you turning the pages to find out the resolution. For people who enjoy reading about love, the pain and healing of letting go, and building a new life, this might just fit the bill.

      **spoiler alert** So, let's see. Aimee's fiance, James, goes missing a couple of months before their wedding, and she ends up burying him on the day they were supposed to be married. At the funeral she's approached by a mysterious woman, who tells her James is still alive.And it's all downhill from here, folks. A completely convoluted mess. A few thoughts:Aimee and James had been together for years, super in love, she didn't throw away anything take off her ring after he was buried, etc. And yet, she waits months and months to look into whether he actually still is alive or not. Months.And then there's the instalove with Ian, who Aimee strings along through the whole book. Because Aimee is SUPER self-centered. Everyone loves her, everything is about her. I just ...I just probably should have waited until the anger wore off before writing this review is what I just, because I can't even get this all out coherently I'm so ... ugh.There's a sequel coming, I guess. I will not be reading it.Overall, interesting idea in theory. Poor execution.

      "Everything We Keep" is an engaging multi-faceted book. There’s romance, loss, mystery, grief, and coming of age. Lonsdale manages to juggle these elements with enthusiasm if not total believability.Aimee narrates as she reminisces about her storybook romance with James and its abrupt conclusion. On her scheduled wedding day, she attends her fiancée’s funeral. One might think such scheduling in poor taste, but as Aimee’s almost mother-in-law points out, everyone had already made travel plans.Like Dicken’s Miss Havisham, Aimee’s life stops with her love’s departuer. Fourteen months later, nothing in the house has changed. James’ clothes share Aimee’s closet, his paintings grace the walls, and other paintings are still in the garage. Except they aren’t. Like James, the paintings are gone.Meanwhile, Aimee takes tentative steps into life. She opens her coffee café. She meets a man willing to wait for her. Most dramatically, when a psychic consultant sends Aimee a picture from an artist’s studio in Mexico, Aimee concludes that James is still alive. Though unsure whether she still wants James, Aimee hops a plane with her new swain close behind.As ocean waves lapped the shore, I found it difficult to sustain my “suspension of disbelief.” Aimee meets Carlos who is and isn’t James. She opens her heart to Ian, except she doesn’t quite. And Carlos? Clearly his story could be told in another novel.I received "Everything We Keep" as a part of my Amazon Prime membership.

One will find from the read this is one of 'drama, grief, heartwarming love story, romance, secrets, unanswered questions that bring on suspense, help from a psychic, and then in the end being given one twisted captivating mystery good read' and let's not leave out that quite interesting epilogue that left me saying what?Thank you for the read of Everything We Keep. This was my Kindle First choice for this month of July, 2016.

      I immensely loved this book and from page one, I could not put it down. The story starts off with Aimee at the funeral of her fiancée James on the day of their wedding trying to cope with her grief. I was hooked and want to read more of Kerry Lonsdale books.

      I have one word for this book WOW! I loved it - it had everything - mystery, suspense, romance, great characters and an ending that I didn't see coming! How much better can you get? I am anxiously waiting for her next book.On Aimee's wedding day, she is at the church but instead of a wedding, she is at her fiance's funeral. Her boyfriend had to make a trip to Mexico before the wedding and he disappeared from the fishing boat the he was on. Aimee, of course, was devastated - she and James had been friends since childhood and he was part of her memories of growing up, even before they fell in love. He was going to quit the family business and paint and she was going to open a restaurant. Now, none of it was going to happen, so Aimee lost not only her husband to be but also all of her plans for the future. Luckily she had two very good friends who helped her handle her life. Just as she is starting to feel stronger, a stranger shows up and tells her that James is still alive. She can't move forward with her life if this is possible and the story becomes her quest to find out the truth.I loved the characters in this novel, Aimee's grief was so real that I cried with her and applauded her struggles to move on. I also loved Ian but I'm not going to write anything about him because I don't want to give anything away.This is a fantastic book - add it to your tbr for August. You won't be disappointed!(Thanks to the author for a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.)
