- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Well the first four reviews are clearly written by the same person, probably the author.
Here is a really and honest review: this book is literary and literally trash. I have no idea who this man is but he writes female characters like someone who has only had glancing encounters with women and the most meaningful one was with his mom, who he either never understood or maybe just hates? lol
Just listen to the introduction/prologue (before the first chapter) and you will need to go no further. Oh and there is a black EMT in the same part that is laughably stereotypical. The dude performing the audiobook even gave him a 'black-cent' that was so bad that he might as well have said, "Dy-no-mite!!"
UGH lol... just, no. Nope. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Kenyon has a lucid and compelling narrative voice, and the characters of The Reach are agreeably likable or repellent. He also sews up each character's motivation nicely so I never said to myself ‘that person wouldn’t do that.’ While entertaining, most readers will be struck by the similarities to King’s Firestarter , Carrie, and a little Silence of the Lambs thrown in for good measure. I don’t think this is a lack of imagination on Kenyon’s part, but a new artist working from what he’s learned from a master. Leonardo’s earliest know painting is an Annunciation, a stylized manner he outgrew as he came into his own. And Kenyon will, he’s already got style and determination and, most importantly, taste. Techno thrillers with supernatural overtones, a’la Preston/Childe, may be his forte. An enjoyable, thrilling book with real power and one that lets the reader root for the good guys.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Once I read his debut novel, Bloodstone, I thought I may have found another author that I know I'll read with each new publication. After reading his follow up, I have no doubt. Nate Kenyon makes it look easy flowing from a supernatural horror tale in his debut to this techno thriller. He has a real talent for character development. Unlike his first book where he lets the story unfold slowly, The Reach is a fast paced, exciting read. Well done and highly recommended.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not as good as his Debut Novel...sort of a mix between, Carriie and Firestarter....Vey good plot movement and moments of true suspense..and excellent character developement. Can't wait for his next work!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ten years old, Sarah has pretty much lived her whole life in a mental hospital. Dr. Wasserman at The Wasserman Facility has diagnosed Sarah as being a schizophrenic. Sarah isn’t your normal schizophrenic; in fact Sarah is also a psychic. Jess Chambers has studied the extreme child psychology cases and that is why she is very excited to be able to meet young Sarah. The doctors at The Wasserman Facility have been able to control Sarah. You know the saying “Be careful what you wish for”, well Jess is about to find out that wishes are not always a good thing. After Jess meets Sarah strange and scary things start happening at the facility that no one not even Sarah could predict. This book was filled with plenty of intense and electrifying horror. The Reach started out very strong and ended on a high note. I thought Sarah was a normal ten year old; ok maybe she happened to have a unique gift but other then that fact, Sarah just wanted to have a voice and be heard. Dr. Wasserman won’t let that take place. So what happens when someone who has not been able to speak for ten years, finally gets the chance…the end result is Nate Kenyon’s The Reach; a book that will not disappoint and leave you wanting more. The Reach is the first book I have read by Mr. Kenyon. I can assure you that I will be reading more books by this very talented author.
