About this audiobook

Dr. Annabelle Schwartzman has finally found a place to belong. As the medical examiner for the San Francisco Police Department, working alongside homicide detective Hal Harris, she uncovers the tales the dead can’t tell about their final moments. It is a job that gives her purpose—and a safe haven from her former life at the hands of an abusive husband. Although it’s been seven years since she escaped that ordeal, she still checks over her shoulder to make sure no one is behind her.

Schwartzman’s latest case is deeply troubling: the victim bears an eerie resemblance to herself. What’s more, a shocking piece of evidence suggests that the killer’s business is far from over—and that Schwartzman may be in danger. In this pulse-pounding thriller from award-winning writer Danielle Girard, a woman must face her worst nightmare to catch a killer.

Trigger warning (abuse both emotional and physical)
A story full of pain, trauma and a dark past that she spent 7 years running from.... Anna has done everything to forget her abusive husband, yet he always finds her where about .... So when she is called in to examine a body she quickly figures out who is behind it, however with no evidence, Anna is forced to revisit her old wounds in order to solve the case.
the story is fast paced, straight to the point... there are no hidden messages, the villain is know from the beginning .. so its more of how to get him rather than who is it.

I couldn’t put it down! Filled with suspense, fascinating characters, and details that proved the author knew what she was talking about. And the narrator did an amazing job! You need to listen to this one!

Great psychological thriller! It seems that ME Annabelle Schwartzman can no longer run from her psychopath ex. Is it too late for her?

Not sure why the title is "Exhume", I don't recall anything being exhumed.
I liked the idea of a medical examiner mystery more than the execution. There are a lot of repetitive thoughts expressed. "I wish I was brave enough blah blah and then all these people wouldn't be dead blah blah.

This was a new author for me. Initially it seemed as the writing was targeted for young adults, but picked up quickly. The story had unexpected turns which I liked. I'd recommend this read and this author. I'll be reading more.
