About this audiobook

Gabe lives a double life. As Gabriel Henson, he works multiple jobs to support his remorseless, alcoholic mother. As Tony Ryder, he does internet porn for extra cash. Yet when he encounters a scared young man freaking out in a night club, Gabe is compelled to reach out. Ever since then, the memory of that young man has haunted him.

Tristan Lavelle lives his life thirty minutes at a time. After a traumatic brain injury three years ago, he gets through his day recording his life in spiral notebooks and sticky note reminders.

A month after Tristan's embarrassingly public meltdown, another chance meeting with Gabe sparks a warm, emotionally fulfilling email relationship. Both men crave more, but fear of the next step stands between them, until Tristan gets the opportunity to take part in a clinical trial that could improve his memory.Contains mature themes.

Author

A.M. Arthur

A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town she likes to write about, a stone's throw from both the ocean and generational farmland. She's been writing stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long. When not exorcising the voices in her head, A.M. can be found in the kitchen experimenting with food and trying not to poison herself or others.

The author is very affectionate about his characters which was really nice, however it was a bit too much of a fairy tale for me, everything turned out just too perfectly. It was an interesting read though, I liked the way he talked about the porn industry as a normal kind of job.
The characters communicated very well and were very caring towards each other which was refreshing. Sex scenes a little over the top for a straight girl but I’m sure very enjoyable for gay men. A good read but I was disappointed it ended so soon. Would have liked to hear more about Tristan and how he coped later on.

I enjoyed the story line and would have liked both it and the characters fleshed out a bit more. What gave this only a three star rating was the narrator. Mispronunciations & poor voices were very distracting. Noel is not pronounced Noelle.

A very good book, kept my attention and wasn't as dark or angsty as it could have been. It helps that Tristan is so outgoing and joking even with his memory problems. This is a story that includes miraculous medical recovery which is a bit problems, but I'm not sure how else a healthy relationship could have been written.

Every relationship has it’s obstacles, but those obstacles become even more complicated when Tristan can’t even remember what happened 30 minutes ago. Tristan has a traumatic brain injury and has to be re-introduced to the man he’s falling in love with every day. Gabe is a porn star with his own demons, but finds peace and love with Tristan. Their relationship takes work and patience, but neither Tristan nor Gabe shy from the hard work that’s required from them. This book has everything I love – protective characters, hurt/comfort, sexy scenes, hot men, and true love.

The audiobook was wonderfully produced with a great narrator. I enjoyed listening to the story as much as I enjoyed reading it.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars. The writing was beautifully done and the story was so well crafted. I loved the drama and romance of it.

Tristan is Noel's friend who sustained a life changing brain injury when they were attacked three years ago. Gabe rescued Tristan when he was having one of his frequent memory loss episodes in a bar. Neither could forgot the other. Gabe is interested and patient with the vivacious Tristan, which is what he needs.... especially the patience part. A new drug trial is starting that may help Tristan and he is willing to do whatever he can to regain even a small amount of his memories...but of course there are side effects, some yet unknown, some downright scary. As the two men get to know one another more, they learn that they each have problems and life challenges. Gabe supports his alcoholic mother by working three jobs...one is in porn. The porn job brings in good money, but there still never seems to be enough. There are several threads going on, each weaving a beautiful tale of two men who were fortunate enough to find someone who comforts them...who doesn't judge them...and who can thoroughly love them for just who they are. The reader can easily feel the frustrations Tristan has with his memory issues, and we can also deeply feel the love and devotion Gabe has for him.

This was great. Despite seeming to have a lot of angst (traumatic brain injury, amnesia, alcoholism), the romance was actually really fluffy. I loved that Gabe and Tristan started falling for each other through email.

(actual rating: 4.5 stars) I really like this series' first book (review here), but I think, I might like Tristan and Gabe's story more. Well, I know I like it more.As soon as I read about Tristan in The truth as he knows it, I was hooked. Making me believe a love story between him and anybody is difficult, because his memory span is like 30 minutes. Falling in love takes sliiightly longer. But the way it was handled here? Totally realistic and very cure, too.Of course this is no happy-nothing-ever-goes-wrong love story (After reading 2 books by A.M. Arthur and getting to know more side characters, I think drama might be her thing. And I love that it's her thing!). So much heartbreak... I had some problems with Noel and Shane's transition from drama to sex, but here I could enjoy both parts. Speaking of those two guys, I really like how they play a part in Tristan and Gabe's story without demanding too much space.I'm very excited for the next part, that's for sure.
