About this audiobook

Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans, and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked. For two years, the man known as the Wall of Winnipeg couldn't find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He's asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

I am half way of the book and I think I won't keep reading or take a break. It is way too slow. Repetitions are way too frequent, too much details, unecessary descriptions. I am really frustrated cause the plot is great, and I enjoy the characters. But until now there is barely any interesting interactions between the 2 main characters. Middle of the book and still not seeing any romance or just even chemistry growing between them. I know it's supposed to be slow burn romance for now it's just slow without romance.

Definitely a slow burn and could have have been shorter. However, I enjoyed the story and the characters. I just wish that we got to see Aiden’s perspective.

This book was perfect! The narrator killed it.
Huge grumpy hero with a heroine full of sarcasm? Perfect combination

This could be a good story with some serious editing. The main char dumping her inner monologue on every second of every interaction gets old fast. Someone: blinks. Main char: prattles for 3 paragraphs. Someone: sits down. Main char: goes on and on and on. It takes forever to get through a single conversation. You can’t enjoy any banter because it’s constantly being interrupted by long repetitive inner monologues.

And the counting! Good god. We got it the first 500 times. Just say “she counted to 10” instead of making us sit through actual counting several times in a single conversation.

I’m listening at double speed just so I can bypass the blabbering and get to the plot. And I am enjoying the story. I just wish I didn’t have to wait so long just to hear any of it.

Mariana Zapata is one of my favorite authors, Callie Dalton one of my favorite narrators and they come together to give life to one of the best romances out there. This ultimate slow burn will have you swooning and smiling. Honestly, whenever I’m feeling down, I listen to a Mariana Zapata book…always narrated by Callie Dalton, and am transported to my happy place.

It could have been 1/3 in length. Felt like a looot of filling out nonsense. Love interests never really communicate until 70 % in, and then barely so. I’m normally not a tough sell but this i Slow (98%) Burn (2%) gone wrong. A penny for every time ”student loans” is mentioned in the first 10 chapters and I’d be rich.

SLOW BURN. EMPHASIS ON THE SLOW. I was on chapter 24 of 32 and nothing plot changing had happened. :/

Good slow burn romance. I enjoyed the characters development and their relationship growth.
I wish the author made less refferences to how big Aiden was. It became annoying at some point.

Endless! Boring characters boring plot. Literally continued listening only to see if it could get worse. Fell asleep while listening, slept for 5 hours, woke up and hadn’t missed a thing.

This is by far my favorite! Such an amazing story I just wish there were more steamy scenes to be in the middle of the story, rather then the end. Love it

Apart from one questionable groping scene, this is pure perfection. I listened to it twice in three days...so far.

The book was hilarity at its finest
I was kekekeing and loling so hard at the way vanessa was explaining situations and mently cursing aiden that I didn't know how to function afterwards
    .
    .
I know this book was suppos to be sexy and all but seriously it was not that but what vanessa's iner monologue that sealed the deal for me
    .
    .
The vanessa /daina friendship was everything ♥️

Fake relationship & forced proximity - I was in from the start!

Content warning: some characters have experienced domestic violence.

He has single minded focus to be the best football player he can be. His assistant admires his drive but she finds his thoughtlessness towards her grating.

These characters have been so thoughtfully crafted, like the rest of us, they're not perfect. But I liked them, wanted good things for them, and felt like I understood them.

There's physical attraction in this story but it's the friendship, care and intimacy that did it for me.

You know that end-of-book feeling where you're like Yes! It has that. Which is why I give this book 5 stars.

P.S. The guy is called the Wall for a reason, OMG those hugs! ?

Zapata has a way with telling a story that I love. I really get into her characters so that I can understand how they feel. I hope she'll write sequels. I think Zach needs his own book for sure, but maybe even Trevor?
