About this audiobook

He's loved me since the day I was born. He's taken care of me. He's awakened me.

Tor is my father's best friend. Fifteen years older than me, he's always been my protector. The one I should never, ever want. But I was born to be his.

She's always loved me. She's shattered me.
She's healed me.

Kenzi is my best friend's daughter. I held her the day she was born, and I never let go. She's forbidden to me. But she's the only one that really gets me.

We're slowly being torn apart by everything we love. Everything we want. Everything we desire.

And now I want the one thing I can't have . . . I want her.

Contains mature themes.

I really don’t appreciate the boundary violations in this book. I didn’t even want to finish it. Not intriguing in the least.

This book was just amazing!!!! I was actually jumping out of my seat during some parts of the book. It was extremely romantic, and while it was a bit cringy at parts when they described her as his neice, I got over that pretty quickly

I thought that the characters were likable and I enjoyed the famous musician spin. I also appreciated that it was a side line fact rather than having the celebrity aspect take over the story. I think this book had potential. I liked the taboo premise however, throughout the book the author decided to weave in moments from birth through the present moment for the main characters. This included Tor being present and babysitting regularly from the time the FMC was born through present day which felt more creepy to me, rather than just a romance with an older friend of the family. It seems like the author thought this would paint a picture of “rightness” or destiny, but instead it just felt too close and way weird instead.

    Audiobook

Carian Cole delivered the emotional punch again.

Kenzie comes from a very famous family: her parents are famous musicians, so is her grandfather and her grandmother is a famous writer. Her parents also had her as teens right at the moment when their career took off. For her it meant having a big family of aunts and uncles from the music industry and a life on and off the road. Throughout this whole time there was one constant in her life: Tore, uncle Tore, her father's best friend.

Tore and Kenzie were inseparable, also around each other. She told his girlfriends that she will marry him some day and he was always the only one who could calm her and who understood her the most. When Kenzie was finishing high school the relationship started to change. She finally understood how all the girls and women were drooling over Tore and he started to notice that she is the perfect girl, scratch that, woman for him. Being 15 years her senior and tending to her from the first day of her life, Tore is torn between what he feels and what he thinks is appropriate to feel towards Kenzie. He just forgot to see that she is her father's daughter and once she sets her mind on something, she doesn't waver.

At this point Carian has a knack for writing age gaps for me. Kenzie is the perfect balance between youthful and mature. Her life story is at times tragic, but she handles it so well and has the good brain on her to navigate through the hurdles. I loved how she handled her inexperience in life and relationships, it was a good mix of I don't know how and I definitely want to try.

Tore had to step into the role of the patriarch of the family and gave up on his music career to be able to do so. That seems to have put a lot of things in perspective for him. He knows what he wants from life and is finally ready to cut ties with toxic women that see his potential to mold him into the tamed bad boy of their dreams with little regard to what he actually stands for. He fought his attraction to Kenzie and even once he accepted it, he still pushed her to go into the world and make sure she knows who she is instead of exchanging a life with her father for a life with a boyfriend.

The flashback kinda ruined the book for me a little bit .A little cringy tho he pretty much raised her and then developed feelings for her .overall an alright story
