      For this book, I rated it a 3.5. I did enjoy the adventurous things that were going on through the book, but i felt like it needed to be a bit longer, the other thing is, the chapters were arranged in a certain order. For instance, one chapter would be the main character's perspective and then the next, it would be everyone else's perspective which was, I thought, unique. Basically, this whole story was about a character named Josie Taylor who was born on Leap day (which happens every 4 years) and mentions all the adventures she has throughout the day like going on a scaventure hunt, drivers test, going to the lake and lots more.

      Cute little story about the day you turn 16 and getting drivers license and scavenger hunts and dart wars and brothers who end up defending you and relationships....Some stuff I would just as soon they left out but that's the way of the world.

You will begain the right as Joise wakes up and through the day on Febuary 29th leap day. By the end of the book or from Joises point of veiw the end of the day Josies life will change and so will your.

      Leap Day is a great realistic fiction book. I really liked how it was sectioned into different people's perspectives. This book is a great to read if you're looking for something good to read!

      I read this book last year. A friend of mine recommended it to me, so I decided to give it a shot. I ended up really enjoying the book. Leap Day is about a girl, Josie Taylor, whose birthday is on Leap Day. What really interested me was that the whole book took place over this one day, her 16th birthday. Also, each chapter is told from a different point of view. One chapter could be from the eyes and ears of Josie, and the next from her older brother, mother, father, friend, etc. It was a quick read, and somewhat childish in parts, but it still provided insight into the mind and life of a teenage girl. I would recommend this book to other girls of my age.

      Leap Day, a follow-up to Wendy Mass' A Mango-Shaped Place, is equally as fun and unique as its predecessor. Leap Day follows Josie on her 16th birthdy, but since she was born on 2/29, it's only the fourth time she has celebrated her birthday on the actual day she was born. This book's unique format is such a cool idea - Josie narrates through her day for one chapter, and after that, the chapter rewinds and goes again, this time from the perspective of all the other characters in the chapter. It's so interesting to see who Josie understands and who she doesn't, and how many assumptions everyone makes of everyone else. Josie is a prism, viewed by different people from a different side, and then we also get her own perspective on herself as she goes through her day at school, takes her driver's license test, goes on a scavenger hunt, and undergoes the secret rites of all 16 year old Orlando teens at a mysterious lake. This book is so fun and different from any other YA novel I've read, and is easily appropriate for middle school and up but will still keep their attention. Wendy Mass is a sure bet.
