      #5 Chesapeake Diaries - I have read all the others in the series so was looking forward to hearing more about Lucy's past and her high school days. Some of Lucy Sinclair’s best days were those spent growing up in small town St. Dennis—working at the family inn and enjoying summers filled with swimming, sailing, tennis, and the company of Clay Madison, her best friend. But Lucy’s darkest day, the one that shattered her innocence with violence and fear, also happened in St. Dennis. And the town she once loved became the place she gladly left behind—along with the terrible secret she’s kept for twenty years. A good series and nice read. (love Grace and her diaries)!

      Looking forward to the new The Long Way Home, the next in the Chesapeake Diaries Series coming out the end of Jan, 2013.

      I enjoyed this book very much. I will look for more of her books in the future. Great story line, well developed love able characters and a town I would love to live in.

      Again, Mariah Stewart captures the beauty of the small towns, of the peacefulness and love that one can only encounter at home. The first love, the second changes, the sense of gathering and help, of being part of something, is well represented in here. St. Dennis and its people is the place here you want to be when you are feeling low, eating an ice cream at Scoop or a Cupcake with Brooke.

      Home for the Summer: The Chesapeake Diaries by Mariah StewartLucy Sinclair originally from St. Dennis s returning to the island to plan an elaborate wedding. She holds many secrets that we will learn about as time goes on.Clay Madison has always stayed on the island and is happy with his decisions. He runs the farm, organic crops and he wants to venture into a brewery, raising his own crops for that.Now that Lucy is back from the east coast, the wedding at her familys inn everybody that has a wedding planned with the company wants the small little trees with the twinkling lights. The trees were from Clay's farm and she's not sure she can get a lot of them in time for the others wedding.Clay now lives in the family house and his sister Brooke and her son live there after her husband was killed in action in Afghanistan. He helps Gracie at the inn by putting up her tree and decorating it-he finds his carved initials in a chair that is still there and he remembers how he fell in love with Lucy.Lucy realizes after spending a night with the local females what is missing from her life. Many trips back to the island to oversee more weddings brings her closer and confiding in Clay about that summer that drew them apart.

      I received this book as a LT Early Reviewers copy. Usually I don't pick up books that are part of a series. I feel like I have to read all the books before or after a certain title and I don't like the repetition of reading an entire series. However, this book was a little different. Like many books in a series, this one was set in a small town with many characters, who's back stories I hadn't read. Fortunately the author filled in the gaps enough that I could pick up on who was who. This was a light and enjoyable read with an interesting enough story. It does deal with some tough topics, such as rape. But the author lovingly guided her characters through the difficult plot twists in a gentle and realistic way that didn't feel uncomfortable. I find this is important to note because I've come across some books who deal with this topic in a way that is not at all realistic or can be very painful to read. All in all I think this was an enjoyable book with very lovable characters. I may have to pick up another one in the series just to check in and see how everyone is doing.

      A very nice book. Lucy Sinclair is a event planner who works in L.A. She has been asked to plan an extravagant wedding at an inn on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The inn has been in her family for generations and was her home. But an incident earlier in her life has kept Lucy from the town, the home that she loves, and her best friend, Clay. In addition to planning the wedding, the time spent at home has Lucy re-evaluating her life and her relationship to Clay. The book was a gentle, pleasant read. It was the fifth in a series, but read well as a standalone. If this volume was typical of the series, it would be a good series for YA readers who wish to have their romances populated with adults. I will probably read more of the series as I come across the books.

      Home for the Summer is the story of Lucy Sinclair who is an event planner living in Los Angeles but her family owns an inn on the Chesapeake Bay. Lucy has avoided spending anytime at her family home because of a secret she hasn't told anyone, but when she lands a big wedding to be held at the inn she learns to face her fears. Lucy appears to be a strong character but avoids spending anytime with her best friend from childhood Clay. Clay has always had feelings for Lucy and convinces her to spend time with him. The relationship between Lucy and Clay is slow to warm up. I felt little connection between them until the end of the book. I wanted a little more development with her secret and Clay. Otherwise it was a decent book.

      I absolutely loved this book. Loved the attention to details that allowed me to really picture things in my mind. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

      Home for the Summer, by Mariah Stewart was a bit of a generic romance. It was enjoyable enough for me to finish but not terribly memorable in the long run. I'm not a big reader of flat out romance anymore but I did enjoy the author's last book (that I read) so I requested this through Early Reviewers. Lucy is a troubled woman who doesn't want to return to her hometown where a painful memory remained. Clay was her long time best friend, left behind to run a ranch while Lucy moved across the country. When Lucy returns to plan a wedding at her family's inn, she reconnects with Clay. I felt that I'd read the story before in many different forms. Books about wedding planners, and inns seem to be all over the place. I didn't feel there was anything original and there was no big payoff with Lucy's story. The book is well written with great characters. It just didn't strike me as something to get excited about. Not bad but not great either.

      Home for the Summer was the first book that I have read by Stewart, but it definitely won't be the last. I absolutely loved the world she created in St. Dennis making it a perfect destination for the reader's imagination to visit. I could practically picture the wonderful shops as well as the inn and practically taste the delicious sounding cupcakes and ice cream. Stewart did an amazing job at developing both of her main characters as well as making the secondary characters also feel like family. The overall story was good, and it kept the reader's interest building up the romance as Lucy tried to put together a huge wedding for her clients. The one thing that threw me was the title. Despite being called Home for the Summer, the majority of the book takes place before summer. I did like the buildup and progression to the big summer wedding though. Overall this was a great read that I would definitely recommend.

      Mariah Stewart has another winner with Home for the Summer. I enjoyed Lucy and Clay’s story and catching up with familiar characters from the previous books. This is a wonderful addition to the Chesapeake Diary series and I highly recommend it.

      Lucy Sinclair has come home to be the wedding consultant for a family member of one of her mother's friends. Lucy reconnects with her childhood best friend Clay Madison. They had not talked in years and Clay wanted to learn what caused the rift between them. Not wanting Clay to feel that he did anything wrong, Lucy confesses to him that she had been raped in her family's Inn. She pushed everyone away after the event and never reported it. Somehow in the weeks Lucy spent in St. Dennis she fell head over heels in love with Clay a condition he had suffered for many years.I really enjoy the Chesapeake diaries series and look forward to each new addition. This one lived up to my expectations. It's a very easy read and truly a bit of escapism. The storyline is believable as are the characters which you can not help but fall in love with. This is one book that i kept reading wanting it never to end but anxious to find out what was going to happen. Kudos to Ms. Stewart for another excellent read.

      Lucy Sinclair grew up in St. Dennis, a small town on the Chesapeake Bay. Her best friend was Clay Madison from the time she was in 3rd grade. But in high school, Lucy began to withdraw from Clay and the rest of her friends. After school she moved across the country to California to start a highly successful event planning business. Now, several high profile events are taking Lucy back to St. Dennis. While she is reluctant to return, she begins to be drawn in by her family, friends, her memories and especially by Clay.This is the 5th book in the Chesapeake Diaries series. The series is sweet and "feel good". It's fun to see previous characters in the book. A nice beach read.
