About this audiobook

With a kidney transplant behind her, Avery Adams is determined to channel her inner adventurer and explore everything life has to offer. Only problem is, the closest she's ever come to a real-life adventure was sixth-grade science camp. So to seize the summer in her rustic Sierra Nevada town, she takes a job as a guide at the local adventure lodge. But Avery doesn't realize her biggest challenge will register at six-plus feet of rugged good looks and alpha-male charm.

As a member of the Sequoia Elite Mountain Rescue team, Tyson Donovan has made a life out of cheating death and rescuing weekend warriors from the treacherous terrain. "The world is my home" is more than just a motto; it's what scares off women who would otherwise try to tie him down. When his dad's health lands the family's adventure lodge in serious danger of going up in flames, he moves home—and quickly remembers why he left. Until he meets Avery, the irresistible new guide who makes him want to stay.

Tyson gives the inexperienced Avery a lesson in romance that her books could never teach her. And with her undeniable spirit for life, Avery shows Tyson the healing power of love. But with one misstep, everything comes crashing down, and they'll both have to take the biggest leap of all—into the kind of adventure that lasts a lifetime.

Received an ARC for my voluntary review for netgalley. It was a cute book, not great but cute. At times you felt as if something was missing, but that is my opinion. The book did have its funny moments and you couldn't help but root for them, even though they both wanted different things, he did not want to stay and she did. Avery had some hard times, so you could see why she wanted some type adventure. Ty had things he was working thru, but they found romance in each other, and so I always enjoy a love story.

It Started With a Kiss by Marina AdairFirst in a contemporary romance series. Full of humor and an adorable determined heroine with an Adonis hero quickly enamored. I also cried, a lot, the last 20 pages from the emotional upheaval. A happy and satisfying ending. My favorites of humor, generous souls, and emotional “good” tears made this romance a fantastic read. A wining combination that will make this author a new favorite of mine.

Avery has inherited the same kidney disease that eventually killed her mother. After surviving a kidney transplant & having her fiancé walk out on her, she relocates to Sequoia Lake Lodge to work & try to gain the knowledge she needs to climb the mountains. She's getting frustrated because Dale, her boss, isn't training her. Tyson is the head of the swift water rescue team & Dale's son. After a friend gives him a heads up about Sequoia Lake Lodge failing an inspection & possibly missing out on a training session for a major client, he takes a leave of absence to head home & figure out what's going on. He didn't expect Avery & their instantaneous chemistry. He shouldn't start anything with her since he can't stay. Or can he? This is the first book in a new series from Marina Adair. Ms. Adair draws the reader into the story from the beginning & keeps you interested throughout. She has a way of writing a well developed story with realistic characters that pull you in. She engages the readers emotions & makes you laugh, cry, be sympathized & angry - all within the same book. I love the gentle way she introduces Dale's medical condition & the bewilderment of not just the person suffering, but also the family. As someone who has a family member with dementia/Alzheimer's, the covering for the person with the memory loss & anger issues is a true portrayal. I really love this story & so will you!
