About this audiobook
Fleeing a troubled past, Sarah Faust has found the perfect place to begin a new life. Tucked away on a charming side street and surrounded by lush grounds, the neglected three-hundred-year-old townhouse in the port city of Charleston offers a refuge and a place to start over. But all is not as it seems at 5 Rue Lane, and she soon finds that her new house harbors something that has been there for a very long time. Something that refuses to stay buried.
In A Haunting, L. I. Albemont brings us parallel tales of old and modern horror, weaving colonial era events into a modern ghost story you won't soon forget.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sarah moves into an old, affordable house after her husband's arrest for financial misdeeds. The house is infamous and strange things start happening in short order. There's nothing really ground-breaking here except the history of the apothecary woman who was burned as a witch and is the cause of the disturbances. I wish her story and her relationship to her black friend had been explored more because that is the real horror as well as the heart of this book. In contrast Sarah herself is not a really compelling character and dithers irritatingly while children and animals are put in danger all around her. The other characters around her equally obtuse. No reaction to hordes of little green men marauding through the neighbourhood? Seriously?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It had a lot of promise then went too far left and ended very badly.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5One of those rare finds. A truly dreadful book. It read like a house catalogue. The action was sort of summarized in the last few chapters.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was great until the protagonist started quoting Christian scripture. ?
