About this audiobook

Max Bennett was nine years old the first time he met Emilia. The two formed a tight friendship that lasted for years until she moved away. Now, years later, Max enjoys a successful career and loves his life: carefree and fun. He has everything he wants and does not intend to settle down anytime soon (even though his family might have other ideas). But when a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Emilia, he starts questioning everything.

Emilia Campbell has a lot on her plate, taking care of her sick grandmother. After practically being left at the altar, Emilia has sworn off men . . . until the childhood friend she hero-worshiped and hasn't quite forgotten steps into her clinic. Max is every bit the troublemaker she remembers, only now he has a body to drool over.

They are both determined not to cross the boundaries of friendship. But as their chemistry spirals out of control, can Emilia trust her childhood hero with the key to her heart and accept she might have found her one true love?

Contains mature themes.

Another easy romance by Layla. This one is a childhood friendship that rekindles years later and turns into lovers. Emilia is now a physical therapist and Max injures himself which leads him to fall into the care of Emilia.

I think because of the friendship there didn't seem to be any real angst or tension between these two. Friends to lovers is never my favourite trope anyway so I wasn't surprised I didn't get immersed in their romance. Emilia has a difficult situation to deal with when it comes to her grandma who has raised her and that plays a large part in the story.

There doesn't seem to be much character growth or plot to these books. It is great seeing all the family again and getting thrown into the chaos. It is a comical and quick read. The books all seem to run the same course and are very predictable. No one's story seems to stand out as being different from the other.
