      Second chance romances can be a hit or a miss with me. I had not read the previous installments of this series so I had no previous emotions one way or the other on the demise of the relationship for these two characters. Note that I said previous, after reading this book I have all sorts of emotions regarding this story now. I can say that this is absolutely one of my favorite second chance romances ever!The Day of the Duchess is a tale surrounding the marital demise of Seraphina, Duchess of Haven and Malcom Bevingstoke, Duke of Haven. The Author does a wonderful job of relating the story with transitions from past to present. The story follows both characters from the point of their separation almost three years prior, at the request of Haven. Their past is one of passion, yearning, betrayal and bitterness.Haven realized shortly after Sera had vanished that he screwed up royally. Honestly if his character had not had years of anguish for his mistakes I would not have liked him so much. He truly understood the gravity of his transgressions and had searched all over the world to find his wife. To beg her forgiveness, to ask her to come home. He had never given up, even when the day came where she stormed into parliament and demanded a divorce of him. At that moment, he knew that he would never give her the divorce. He was going to do whatever he could to win her back.Sera and her sisters have spent the bulk of their lives not being good enough for high society. Their father had gained his title by profit not by lineage and they had never been accepted. That had not bothered Sera before but once starting a relationship with Haven she became insecure and that allowed doubt to cloud her judgment to which she made a grave error. An error that sealed her doom with Haven. She would have done anything to make it right but eventually she realized that it could never be. At her lowest moment she decided that she would run and never look back. It took almost three years but Sera did come back to gain her independence and to be done with Haven forever.This is such a charming story. These characters had both loved deeply and were wounded by that love. Learning their stories, seeing their hurt, and watching their rebirth was just utterly marvelous! It was an emotional roller coaster that I did not want to get off. The first half of the book is the hashing out of the history but the second half of the book is where the healing starts to take place and Haven has to put everything on the line. This novel is filled with many grand romantic gestures. These gestures are not the kind that would be made for wooing a woman, but the kind that are made to show the deepest regret and vulnerability that one has to offer. It was as if he literally put his heart on a platter for her as an offering.This book had me in tears by the end. The epilogue is the kind that made those tears just stream down my face. This was such an amazing read! Beyond the relationship building and romance there was also endearing sibling relationships, humor, and a hint of maybe what is to come next for one of the sisters. I may have never before read a story from this author but that will never happen again. I adore her writing style and I am looking forward to the next novel in this series.       I love this author. She does these books really well. I can honestly say she really let her books fall in place. Meaning they are easy to follow.. I am new to her,. Enjoy her a lot. Well onto book 4.

      As usual Sarah did not disappoint and darling Sera got her happy ending after three difficult years of loving and losing. And guess what? There wasn’t any female that dressed as a man, thank goodness.

      Fun read. I adore the hate to love trope. We also have the sisters as backup causing mischief, and wife picking out new wife and interviewing suitors tropes.

      This book for some reason didn’t work for me. I’m not sure if it was the characters or the plot it just didn’t hold my attention as much as her other books.

      I am a fan of the infamous and intriguing Talbot sisters, and I'm excited to finally see Sera and Haven's story told. On the whole, this installment is very much in line with the Scandal and Scoundrel series, which I feel present somewhat ludicrous set-ups in order for the characters to sort their relationships out. If you like the other books, pick this one up.

      In this case, the Duke of Haven buys time with his estranged wife by requiring her to choose her replacement in order to allow a divorce. The themes are good, the enforced house party, a la Bachelorette is just odd, and the characters' relationship drama is convoluted. As with the other Scandal and Scoundrel books, the situations are relatively easy to resolve once the main characters get out of their own way. A solid choice, but it's not going on my top romance list any time soon.

      Positively charming. I am on a beach vacation, and this book was a perfect choice. Listening to this while gazing out at the hypnotic beauty of Lake Michigan was truly healing. Extra points for a beautiful portrait of the sister relationship which is indivisible, no matter how bad one or the other might mess up. Were there unbelievable elements? Hell yes. Was there a convenient failure to communicate? Yep. Still it was just what I wanted and it left me smiling. These days I will take my HEAs wherever I can get them.

      Seraphina, Duchess of Haven has been in exile for several years and now she returns demanding a divorce. Situations, misunderstanding and family have forced them apart but now she wants a life of her own and she's willing to beg in parliament for it.He hasn't forgotten her, he needs to marry, but he still loves her.I enjoyed the read but felt a little let down by the ending it felt a little pat.

      Malcolm Bevinstoke, Duke of Haven, was prepared for one last boring day in Parliament before he starts his search for his missing wife when she suddenly appears there to ask for a divorce. Seraphina left him almost three years ago, or he told her to get out, but he's never stopped loving her. In order to foil her divorce request, he convinces her it's her duty to find his new wife for him as he needs an heir. The story is told with a great many flashbacks that explain why they are in this current mess. I read the previous book and I knew the Dangerous Daughters from that, but for some reason, I missed the first book in the series (I just purchased it because I need to know more about Sophie and King). Still, I don't think I missed much. Ms. MacLean establishes that Mal is the villain right at the beginning, so I was prepared to properly hate him. His redemption arc is so lovely that I read the book from start to end in one sitting. Sera also has some atonement and growing up to do. They are a wonderful couple, and the writing here is superb and lyrical. There are some funny moments too; a highlight is Sesily thrusting her cat at the Duke of Haven and then throwing up on his boots after a long coach ride.I always enjoy Ms. MacLean's books and this one is one of my favorites. The best description I can come up with is poignant because this book will tear your heart out.

      OH MY GOSH, THE ANGST. Seriously, I don't think I've read this much delicious romantic angst since The Scarlet Pimpernel...except, every scene between Sera and Mal is like the one where Percy kisses everywhere that Marguerite's hand touched after she left him outside their home. So much love, buried under so many layers and years of hurting each other and being hurt... GAH. Though here we've got the lot of the Soiled Ss to keep things interesting, and a batch of suitesses (LOL, even when they're thinking they need a new name for them, they're still using the label) and a fluffy, bad-tempered, shedding like a fiend cat...plus, Sarah MacLean's writing. So. Good. Even when I'm aggravated beyond reason with Sera for her stubborn insistence that they have no future together, I couldn't get angry with the story, because did I mention, it's so good? Warning: once I'd started this book, I was good for absolutely nothing until I saw Sera and Mal to their long deserved HEA! (And can I just say--HA! I knew that what happens in the epilogue was going to happen!) Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

      This is the third book in Scandal & Scoundrel series and this one definitely lives up to the series' name. If you haven't read the previous two, I'd recommend you read at least the first one, The Rogue Not Taken, because in it we meet Seraphina and her no good, cheating husband.I know that I'm not alone in this when I say that redeeming a character such as the hero in this story wasn't going to be easy. As a matter a fact, if I was an author, I'd probably kill him off and give Sera a man worthy of her. I mean, why put yourself through all the angst Ms. MacLean?! Why be in the head of this man?!Don't answer that question. It's a rhetorical one and after I finished this book, you've answered it in full. What you did is show me why I am a reader and you the author. You've created a character so complex and flawed that his humanity just jumped off the pages. By the end of the book, you left me no choice but to accept him for what he was and is. Through your prose, I felt this man's remorse and forgave him his transgressions. The emotional baggage these two came with in this story was heartbreaking and the reason their relationships survived is testament to what real love is. It's not black or white, it's messy and painful at times, but it is worth fighting for it.One of the best second chance at love tropes I've read and I highly recommend it.
