About this audiobook

Evidence of a violent crime in Bree’s basement causes police to re-open a cold case. Can she and her search dog, Samson, stop the killer before he strikes again?

Bree Nicholls has made a name for herself finding missing persons and solving mysteries in the untamed wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with her faithful search-and-rescue dog, Samson. Yet she still doubts herself, grieving the loss of her husband and longing for her young son’s forgiveness.

When a basement remodeling project at her lighthouse home uncovers evidence from a case the Rock Harbor police gave up on long ago, Bree’s family comes under attack. Someone wants something from the house . . . or possibly someone.

Ranger Kade Matthews steps in to help, winning Bree’s friendship and making real headway with her son, Davy. But there’s still a killer somewhere in Rock Harbor. It will take everything Bree and Samson can do to protect her family from the danger lurking outside the lighthouse door.

Title: Beyond a Doubt (Rock Harbor #2)Author: Colleen CoblePages: 320Year: 2013Publisher: Thomas NelsonMy rating is 4 out of 5 stars. This novel picks up shortly after the conclusion of book one, Without a Trace. Bree Nicholls is thrilled to be spending time with her son, Davy, after his 11-month absence. The little boy still has nightmares of his time away. One night he wanders into the basement. Bree’s rescue dog, Samson, reacts oddly to the place in the basement where Davy was hiding. The next morning Bree investigates and discovers a skeleton buried in the wall. Bree wants to know who the skeleton is and proceeds to begin an investigation of her own.The more she digs, the bigger target she unknowingly places on her back. Events begin to escalate. She is also trying to get her new search and rescue training center business off the ground, help a friend who is being abused by her husband and navigate a potential relationship with Kade Matthews, a local park ranger. With her persistent nature, she solves an old mystery. A new face in town keeps crossing Bree’s path, tugging her in a different direction than a relationship with Kade. Will she make the right choice? In this second book I’m getting more familiar with the reappearing characters and getting more involved with their lives. I love Anu! What a wonderful woman of God! The combination of faith, family and friends brings the characters to life. With the addition of mystery, suspense and romance, readers will have everything they need for a satisfying read. I can’t wait to start book three, Into the Deep!Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.

This story will keep you guessing until the very end. This is the second book in this series and this story picks up where book one left off, so I encourage you to read them in the order written (however, you could read this easily as a stand alone story). In this story there will be intrigue and mystery along with a little bit of romance.Bree discovers a corpse in her lighthouse home behind a hidden wall in her basement. This will lead to many questions as she tries to solve this age-old crime there in the quaint town of Rock Harbor. There are also several homes being vandalized out by the Lake, which will lead to even more discoveries. And then there is the ongoing strong feelings that Bree and Kade seem to share for one another, but can't seem to vocalize those feelings and commit. Kade also has his hands full trying to raise his sister, Lauri, who seems to be getting herself into a lot of trouble. There is a lot going on in the story and the author does a good job of tying up all the pieces in the end. But she leaves one story wide open, which I look forward to reading more about in the next book in this series, 'Into the Deep".
