Lovers of strong, alpha MC heroes will not want to miss Ice, the first book in the Regulators MC series. In a style somewhat similar to Tack, from Motorcycle Man, Ice is an amazing single dad, who after the death of his wife has taken on the role of raising his now teenage daughter. So focused, in fact, has he been on this task, that he really hasn't found anyone to warm his bed (well other than the occasional fling at the Club) and believes that he will never fall in love with anyone again. Instead, all of his time is devoted to his work as the Regulators MC president, certain other clandestine activities, and to his daughter who he fiercely protects. Then enter Morgan Powell, Ice's daughter's best friend's sister. Although they meet under less than ideal circumstances--at a time when Ice rather strongly questions her ability to control her teenage sister, who after being kicked out of her parents home has moved in with Morgan; Ice eventually comes to see Morgan for the "good" woman that she is. When Morgan's sister goes missing, however, there is little time to focus on any potential romantic connection, as Ice takes it upon himself, and the Regulators MC, to not only track Morgan down, but also find and rescue a number of other girls who have also gone missing in the area. After his initial rather harsh treatment, Morgan is not really sure what to expect, but decides to ultimately trust Ice with the mission to find her sister. During this terrible time in her life, Ice takes it upon himself to move Morgan into his home, in part, for her safety. It is during this time that their mutual respect and admiration for one another grows. Ultimately Ice, in his typical alpha way, decides Morgan is too good of a woman to allow to slip by, and therefore he determines he will claim her as his woman once Morgan is rescued. Convincing Morgan, however, a 24-year old virgin who still can't totally figure Ice out, may not be as easy as Ice is used to his women being. Will Ice actually be able to save the day by rescuing Morgan and the other missing girls? Moreover, even if he does, can he convince Morgan that they are meant to be together?I loved the suspense angle of this story. It was fun watching Ice and his MC brothers battle evil to rescue the day. Ice also had the perfect cocky, alpha nature that you would expect a MC President to have. The one area where I wasn't quite as convinced was with Morgan. I knew going in that she was an investment banker, so I guess I was expecting a really strong heroine, and in some ways, like when she was fighting to find her sister, she was. When it came to matters for herself, however, Morgan definitely suffered from somewhat of an insecurity complex. Perhaps that's why she tolerated some of her initial less than ideal interactions with Ice, but I guess I just expected her to make Ice have to fight harder to ultimately claim her after all of his initial remarks. In the end though, it does all come together, and I loved Ice's fierce loyalty and willingness to go above and beyond to protect the people who are important to him.I look forward to reading book 2 of the Regulators MC series, Hammer, which is scheduled to be released in March 2015.Source: Review copy provided in exchange for an honest review.
