About this audiobook

The highly anticipated new book from the acclaimed author of The Accident Season is a gorgeous, twisty story about things gone missing, things returned from the past, and a group of teenagers, connected in ways they could never have imagined.

One stormy Irish summer night, Olive and her best friend, Rose, begin to lose things. It starts with simple items like hairclips and jewelry, but soon it's clear that Rose has lost something much bigger, something she won't talk about, and Olive thinks her best friend is slipping away.

Then seductive diary pages written by a girl named Laurel begin to appear all over town. And Olive meets three mysterious strangers: Ivy, Hazel, and her twin brother, Rowan, secretly squatting in an abandoned housing estate. The trio are wild and alluring, but they seem lost too—and like Rose, they're holding tight to painful secrets.

When they discover the spellbook, it changes everything. Damp, tattered and ancient, it's full of hand-inked charms to conjure back things that have been lost. And it just might be their chance to find what they each need to set everything back to rights.

Unless it's leading them toward things that were never meant to be found...

"If you don't get lost, you'll never be found."

I loved this book so much!! The audio version is just gorgeous, with three narrators who have Irish accents and the perfect amount of sass. I've listened to the audio at least a dozen times, and have dozens of quotes highlighted in my kindle version.

After discovering this book on Scribd, I immediately bought it (audible, kindle, AND hardback), and then went on to buy author Möira Fowley Doyle's other books -- "The Accident Season" and " All The Bad Apples" (preordered, release date is Aug 27).

Why you might love this book: It's a gritty contemporary book about teenagers growing up in an Irish town. They lie to their parents, go out drinking, make grandiose melodramatic proclamations (usually while drunk), sneak back home, wake up feeling awful physically ( hungover) and emotionally (guilty about lying to their parents)... and do it all again. In other words, they're like any other group of teens. It seems like life will continue like this, like all other teens before them ...

Until -- they find it. The spellbook.

"Found: Old red leather-bound notebook, thin and worn, secured by a black rubber band; ripped-up pages out of three lost diaries"

"Then we found the spellbook. It was like it’d been waiting for us. Like it knew we’d need it. "

Is it real? Is magic real? Who took their diaries? "We wanted our diaries found. So Holly suggested we try it. " ... "None of us took it seriously, not even Holly. "

But... Strange things happen. Read this book, and think about the Big Question that they wonder --

"What can you not afford to lose?"

This is literally the BEST audiobook I’ve ever listened to! I love the story and her Irish accent really brought it to life. I typically prefer to read but the audio was so good, I listened along as I read. I’ve never done that before but it was an epic experience!
