I lived At The Rochester Zen Center and happened to be there the day Roshi passed away outside in the back garden. I was honored to know him for the brief time that I did. I even used to read to him and play guitar for him during the last month of his life. I am so grateful to all he has done for Zen and Buddhism in the west.

I wanted to listen to this book because Angelo DiLullo mentions it favorably and I was curious. He made it sound interesting, so I thought if give it a listen.

I wasn't so interested in the early part of the book, but once it got into the main point of the book, it was very interesting and captured my attention.

By the end of the book, I absolutely loved it! I especially loved the section that recounts individual Awakening experiences. This was so inspirational.

If you want motivation to keep going toward full liberation, you'll probably get a lot out of this book. ❤️

The narrator has a strange cadence. Pronounced and askew! Couldn’t appreciate the book as clarity was difficult!
